If the bridge wasnt in Az... it would have been a dang hard paddle for one day!:lmao:
We used to be known for the bridge... now it more like "girls gone wild" from spring break and any reason to visit in the summer with a boat.:scared1:
What can I say... we love it here:love:

Penny, So glad that you are feeling better. Congratulations on your DS's upcoming wedding. I'm dreading it myself. But then again, we have two daughter's. I'm not as worried about the youngest DD (22). She would probably be happy getting married in jeans in the backyard with a big pig roast. But my oldest DD (24) will likely want a grand wedding at WDW or something. Well, we are just giving them a limit and anything over is theirs to pay. And if it is under they get to keep the left over money. My Dad did the same thing nearly 25 years ago. Boy, we watched every penny so we could have a couple thousand dollars left over. But then again, 25 years ago you could have a wedding for $3,000. I hate to imagine what our limit will be for each daughter now a days. :scared1:

Mike, To be honest, I must have been having a senior moment too! I didn't know you could have them at 43. But I'm hear to say you sure can. I was trying to figure out what on earth Ann was taking about too. I thought at first she was going to the UK for a trip. Boy, am I silly.

ok... everyone... the London Bridge is in Arizona!:rotfl:

Ann:rolleyes1

...we have our DS Michael's WEDDING in two weeks!!! Bob says weddings are one of the main reasons it's better to have sons than daughters!
Wow - sounds like a busy couple of weeks for you guys. I think Bob's right about that - we have 2 sons and whilst we'll be happy to help out when they finally tie the knot (long time to wait there as my youngest's only 13!) it just doesn't seem like there'll be the same level of responsibility attached as parents of the groom...
...Karen, Mothering Sunday sounds lovely - I hope your nice weather is holding, and have a great lunch tomorrow!!
Thanks Penny! I had a great time - we went to a local Turkish-style restaurant and had lots of delicious little dishes to share - meze I think it's called :confused3 - and a few glasses of pink champagne! I had cards and gifts and generally spent a lazy day being waited on - loved it!:thumbsup2

Luckily I only have one DD and even tho's she's been with her boyfriend for over 8 years she doesn't really show any sign of wanting the big fairytale WDW wedding I'd love her to have. Hence my attempt to live the dream with the onboard vow renewal! :rolleyes1 TBH it's cheaper for us Brits to marry abroad than to do the deed at home - the parents of a girlfriend of mine recently spent close to £30,000 (well over $50,000) for a wedding! Admittedly it was a large catered event at a stately home but it really wasn't Buckingham Palace! :lmao:

Karen, glad that you had a great Mothering Day. Mothers day is celebrated here in May.

Kathy and I had a cheap wedding. We were married by a Justice of the peace in the local court house after knowing each other for 7 weeks. Lasted 34 years so far. It will be 35 on September 1st if we live that long.:lmao: Mike

That's amazing, Mike - what a whirlwind romance!:thumbsup2 Richard and I met each other when we both 15 (blind date organised by a mutual friend) and knew pretty quickly that we were right for each other - we just had to get school out of the way first! :lmao: Took us another 4 years before we were married and that was a civil ceremony at the local Registry office, followed by lunch at my MIL's house. It was a very low-key and inexpensive affair... :rolleyes1

Karen, Our story's somewhat similar to yours. We met our last year of high school and dated for 2 1/2 years before getting married. We did get married in a church, but it was definitely not elaborate. We had a luncheon in the church basement that my family prepared. My Mother even baked my wedding cake. Now a days people spend tens of thousands of dollars to get married. It blows my mind. I think my DD's may be in for a shock when they find out how much we are willing to pay for a wedding. But I'm not too concerned right now. Both of my daughters have long time boyfriends, but no immediate plans of getting married. At least not that I know of!

And your DDs are the same sort of ages as my eldest two - Eva, seems like we've been living parallel lives just a few thousand miles apart!

The weather is horrible here today AND my central heating boiler's not working - so it's sleeting, hailing and we're huddled around the fire trying to keep warm! :sad2: I just keep thinking about being onboard in the Caribbean with the blue skies and sun - hurry up ticker and get below 6 months!!! :beach:

Oh no, Karen! I hope that you were able to get your heat working. Today the weather is a bit better. We have a high of 60, but the nights are still pretty cold. I can't imagine not having heat right now.

3 more days!!!!   Till we all hit the 6 month mark!!!!!! party:

Karen hope that you get your heat fixed soon. Mike

Hi Karen,

I hope you get your heat fixed! The weather here is trying like mad to be spring, but we keep getting blasted with sleet, snow and anything else "Mother Nature" decides - 75 degrees one day, 30 the next! Fortunately, the last couple of snows have not lasted very long since it turns warm in the next day or two.

I'm dreaming of warm sea breezes and sunshine!

Eva,

I like your parents' incentive to keep things simple - sounds like you were very careful and wisely kept some for a nest egg! Our DS and DDIL2B are keeping things simple too - the reception is in the church's fellowship hall, and relatives are cooking all the food. I think she told us her Aunt is baking the cake, and her Mom is decorating it. Bob and I got married by a magistrate in a gazebo in a park near here - only because there were a few too many to fit in the Magistrate's office :grouphug: Our five children and first DDIL plus my Mom and two sisters attended; Mom took us all out to lunch afterwards - for photos, we gave each one of the kids a disposable camera :)

Hopefully your DDs will stay sensible as well!

Penny

Page #2 will never do. Mike

Still no heating :scared: - the guy's coming tomorrow morning so fingers crossed it's a straightforward fix. More sleet, hail and snow today which has been unpleasant to say the least. :sad2:

I can't get off the Disboards at the moment! :surfweb: I'm obsessed with reading as much about the cruise as possible - I suppose it makes it feel a little nearer and the weather a little warmer and this :beach: is my favourite smilie... :thumbsup2

Karen,

Hope your heating gets fixed quickly and simply tomorrow - I'm thinking warm thoughts :beach: and SPRING!!

Two more days until the 6 months mark!! :cheer2:

Penny

Karen the first time that we took a tour in Grand Cayman, it was a little unnerving ,as since it was a British possession before independence, they drive on the left side of the road. Took a few minutes of closing the eyes when we went around curves on the wrong side of the road so to speak for us:lmao: Mike

ok where is everyone??????

guess what i did today? well I booked another cruise for Sept 2008. <G> at least i have 18 months to find someone else to go to share the room, which will reduce my cost plus sharing the experience with a friend.<G>

still working on finding someone to go this Sept. no luck so far, either friends can't take off work, finances of course can be a reason, but i have 6 months to keep tempting ppl LOL.

ok ppl we are just about at that 6 month mark...... so is everyone ready? planned out what to pack? what excursions? other plans? <G>

I am sure we all have and forgetting we have to get thru the summer first <G>

Hi Marsha,

I think that most everybody is out enjoying the warmer weather. Kathy, I and our granddaughter, along with her mother are going to Atlanta to the Georgia Aquarium this weekend. We have a great one in Chattanooga, but the one in Atlanta is supposed to be the largest in the US. Mike
