Bob and Penny...WELCOME:goodvibes

Eva...thanks for the link. I'll have to consider going ala' cart. The ONLY big perk for doing the REAS I can see is the ablity to book early. BUT I don't think it'll be a issue either way. When we got the REAS package...the gift basket came with champaign, a box of cholocates, and the photo frame. I really like the robe idea...but I don't know that we'd really use them.

Kathy...I always forget how busy you get with the kids and their activites. They are always involved in something. My girls have never gotten into any sport or on going activity.... I'm not sure why but they just never have. Oh well...

As for what I'm looking forward to doing on the ship....I'm thinking the hanging on deck 10 with the drink of the day sounds wonderful ;) I also want to go around the ship and take some photos of all sorts of things. Anything ... and everything.

Gees, I think this is the first time I have ever double posted. I thought I knew how to delet a post, but apparently not. :confused3

I'm looking forward to the same thing. On our last cruise we spent a good portion of the day by the adult pool or on deck 10 with tropical drinks and a good book. I'm sure we will take a break and go to a couple of tastings, bingo, and a gathering here and there. Oh and of course, some spa time! I had thought about just doing a massage, but DH has me talked into the Spa Villa for 1. I've been trying to talk him into the villa for 2, but he just isn't biting. He says he is going to go parasailing on CC instead. You won't get me to do that! He has to drag me on TOT at MGM. I'm not good with heights.

Things I'm looking forward to....Palo's, snorkeling, the sailaway party, standing at the front of the ship and feeling the wind blow, walking around the decks at night with DH and looking at the stars, lounging at Serenity Bay and enjoying a Conch Cooler at 10 am! :rotfl2:

Oh, how I wish I were on Serenity Bay now. We are having some NASTY weather here right now. There are blizzard warnings in the northern part of IN...JUST north of me. Several counties have been declared under emergencies. We have gotten I think about 6 inches of snow since last night and it's still falling. We have also had, and still are having, sleet and freezing rain. Some people have lost power because of ice on power lines. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that our power doesn't go out...no heat would be very bad :sad2:

stay safe, and hope you keep power. keep us posted how things are for you.

Everyone stay safe with the bad weather.

I also love to have breakfast at topsiders. We stay inside as it is hot and muggy a lot of the times when we tried to eat outside. Also the wind blows stuff off the table such as sugar packets and such.

One of the best things to do is to switch the magnetic signs around on the doors of our fellow cruisers:lmao: :rotfl2: things like turn them upside down and rearrange their order on the door. Mike

I'm right there with you, Melody. I live in central Illinois and they are saying up to 15 inches by midnight tonight. It looks like a snow hurricane outside right now. We've had blizzard warnings since 5am.

Ok so if my signs get rearranged I know who to blame and come after? :goodvibes

Thanks for the welcome. I am presently reading the Passporter's Cruise Guide which is very informative. Also reading some excellent trip reports and forwarding same to Penny. I should urge her to get her own account on here as she is much more personable than I am. Much smarter than me (or is it I?) if you can believe those silly intelligence tests.. Then again, I was a Navy Chief Petty Officer and that alone covers a multitude of sins.

Weather is a bit nasty here as well. By tomorrow morning, the DC area will be one giant Popcicle.

brrrrr stay warm up there. Yeah tell Penny to get on here and say hello. Would love chatting with both of you.

You are going to just love DCL well that's my opinion just because i just did my first DCL Magic about a week and half a go <G>

Has anyone ever cruised alone?

For now I am unless can convince a friend to go with me. I am use to traveling alone for work which I do about every other week. Also use to vacationing alone. Ok I know sounds like I have no friends but really honestly I do. <G> Often my schedule and friends schedule just don't go together to vacation.

even if I end up going alone I don't see it as being alone since there are thousands on the ship. And I enjoy going around meeting ppl, seeing where they are from, etc... I also enjoy and require alone time which I am sure to have.

But curious if others have cruised alone and how it went for you?

I am looking forward no matter its with a friend or just me. But by the way, since my birthday is during the cruise, just want everyone to know, I am going to celebrate it ALL week. I figure I have that right being getting closer and closer to 50. <G> So be aware I won't let anyone forget it's my birthday WEEK!!!! LOL. No I promise not to be obnoxious though. <G>

Ok I am on a run on posts:

Curious how many going on this cruise have gone before with others on this cruise? So like its a second cruise with same ppl besides family, but more ppl you have met here on the DIS boards?

Also if anyone visits WDW and would like to meet even to just say Hi let me know. I live about 30 mins from WDW and go as often as possible. I am so spoiled <G>

Marsha, you are so lucky to live so close to Disney! Unfortunately, we won't be going to the parks during our cruise. DH would be miserable which would make me miserable. Disney World is not his thing. I go there with my Granny and Mom. We are going in December...so it won't be quite as sad being in the Orlando airport in September knowing that I'm not going to the World. I have December to look forward to :goodvibes

I hope you stay warm and safe Eva! We are up to about 9 inches of snow/ice now and it is going to continue through the night they are saying as well as tomorrow.

we have severe thunderstorms come thru but not is sunny and beautiful. not sure if we are expecting more storms later tonight. hope not.

i feel for all those in this snow storm crossing the USA. I can't imagine being in a foot of snow much less enough that covers your home. Saw a pic on TV today that the snow covered entire house. Bless all of you in all this snow.

If in Dec you are interested in just meeting long enough to say hi, i would enjoy doing so. I realize ppl come to WDW for their vacations and have their own schedule and things to do. Just nice sometimes to just meet a couple minutes to say hi and but faces with user names. Oh wait maybe we can do that in Sept <G>

stay warm.

The couple that we are dining with have been on 5 Disney cruises with us. They live in Pa and we live in TN. Talk on the phone all the time and have driven to Baltimore and Washington DC to spend a few days with them.

I am retired from CSX Transportation on occupational disability and the wife of the other couple works for the Federal Railroad Retirement Board. So when we met we immediately had something in common. Mike

Welcome Penny & Bob!

We are traveling for the third time with Scrapperjill and her family. We met on our first cruise in 2004 and sailed again in 2005. And we met right here in the Disboards!

Well, we too are being dumped on with snow. It is hard to determine exactly how much we have gotten because there are extremely high winds, but I would say probably about 9 inches. My car was stuck with about 2 feet of snow along the driver side door!! The were calling for it to end by 9 pm, but now just extended it until about 6 am! The plows cannot even keep up with the main streets. My train tonight was running over an hour late! But still, I am close enough and we are in Chicago, so nothing stops here. I will be at work tomorrow as if there is not snow or bad winds.

Deck 10 would be so nice right now!!!!

Kathy

way cool on some of you have met on the boards then met on cruises. then to even return cruising together is way cool. this being only my second disney cruise and my first was just last month, the ppl I met aren't returning as quickly as I am <G> it would be neat to cruise later down the road with some of the same ppl I cruised with last month.

then again, maybe will work where can cruise with some here down the road again too. never know i guess.

i have already set aside a few books so I don't read them before the cruise. I plan on bringing them and hanging out in the fresh sea air on one of the decks, reading and daydreaming <G>

If anyone else planning on reading onboard, and when finished maybe we could swap books around <G>

Marsha aka Brady, I am an avid reader. What types of books do you enjoy reading? I like mysteries, suspence, and crime-FBI type novels. Some of my favorite authors are: James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, Kay Hooper (Not the romance novels, she has a series about an FBI unit that have paranormal talents.), Shephen White, Tammie Hoag (again not the romance novels), Catherine Coulter's FBI series. Oh I could go on, but that probably gives you an idea of my taste. My biggest problem is that I end up reading everything my favorites have out and then I have to go hunt for a new author to read. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great!

seems like you and I read about the same authors and/or story lines. to add to you list:
Faye Kellerman, Jonathan Kellerman, Iris Johansen, Kathy Reichs, Robert Parker, Dean Koontz, Sue Grafton, etc....

I like mysteries, forsenic, etc....

I need to check out Coulter's FBI series wasn't aware she had those. I'm not into romance novels so overlooked her.

I have the same problem. I find an author I like, read all they have out, old and current. Then have to find another author. Gets harder to find a new author though without recommendations. coulter and hoag i def will check into.

I can read two or three books a week. I normally read before bed each night.

So if we finish something on the cruise if want we can swap?

later

Well, weather conditions are a little better here today. At least it stopped snowing. I think the average accumulation is about 11". We have 30 counties under a snow emergency today, including mine. They will give you a ticket if you are out and it's not an emergency, so they say. Deck 10 sounds good to me too!

I love reading James Patterson! I have read his Alex Cross series except for the new one, 'Cross', which recently came out. I'm on a waiting list to get it from my library. I suppose I could read his other ones. I just got so into the Cross series that I had to keep reading them. I'm afraid if I read his others, I won't like them as well :confused3
