September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

Great plan, Marsha, good for you! :thumbsup2 Looks like you'll have to celebrate my birthday (June 22nd) for me on the Wonder! Whilst I'm beyond excited to be sailing on the Magic this September, a 3 night Wonder cruise was how it all started for me and so will always have a special place in my heart... :cloud9:

I'll be sure to celebrate and give you cheers for your birthday. My first and at this point only cruise was the 7 night this past Jan. So I prefer the 7 night but just believe this 3 night will get thru waiting, provide me with some down time. I plan on doing NOTHING but finding a deck, sitting back, relaxing :thumbsup2

No excursions, no have to do this or have to see this, or have to do anything but sit on my backside LOL:rotfl:

Now to make a couple signs for June, but at least maybe that will keep me from making more door signs for Sept cruise. If I don't stop really you won't be able to see the door because of the signs :goodvibes But I know by Sept I will have dwindled down to take just the ones I want for sure to use.

But fun making them for now. Ok for some June door signs? ummmm

:dance3:

And I'll send a virtual "cheers" right back at you! :thumbsup2 You'll have a great time just chilling and don't forget you still get a CC day! Plus you'll get to see the differences in the ships - Magic has Art Nouveau theming, the Wonder is more Art Deco... I'M SO JEALOUS!!! :rotfl:

Sounds completely and utterly fab!!! :)

ya know i thought it sounded fab as well. just a few days to relax!!!

during day relax. see hercules on thursday night, golden mickeys friday night, disney dreams saturday night. and if want check out some evening/night entertainment. or go back to relaxing on one of decks LOL.

and while kicking back, dreaming of our Sept cruise and how fab that is going to be WOO HOO

Congratulations Marsha. Glad that you will be able to take a short cruise. Mike

thanks Mike. I am just loving seeing the cutest little bunny everytime I come to visit the thread.

Welcome Mark!

Wow, gone again for a day and the thread explodes.

Karen, Congrats to your daughter for the DVC points. Hope the same for my two DDs. We definitely have the add-on fever. We called and added 150 points and now DH is saying that we may have to add another 150 to do all things he has planned on his spread sheet. I think he has gone a bit crazy. But I will enjoy the trip along with him.

I also can't believe that your birthday is only 6 days before mine and we are the same age. Pretty cool, huh? Oh, but I get to call you an old woman for 6 days. My DH does it to me because I am 6 months older than him.

Eva I married an older woman. She is 2 years, three weeks older than me.

A reminder to anyone thinking about renting a car or a scooter while on Grand Cayman. Since it once was a British possession, they drive on the left side of the road. Karen will be fine, but for most people going around a curve for the first time in the wrong lane, can be unnerving:lmao: Mike

That sounds very cool, Eva! Wish my DH had a vacation spreadsheet - he has one for our finances but leaves all vacation planning up to me and I'm not sure spreadsheets are my style! I'm refusing to be tempted with further point purchasing as I'm secretly holding out for DVC at the Contemporary...

Feel free. I'm 7 months younger than DH so no one ever calls me old - TBH they wouldn't dare! It's an amazing coincidence tht we're so close in age - it'll feel like meeting a twin! :thumbsup2

Mike, I hope that you do not call your wife old woman. My DH does for 6 months out of the year, until he hits the same age as me. He loves doing it because everyone thinks he is actually older than me by a few years. Not that I look like a young woman, he just has quite a bit of gray hair. It just makes him look distinguished though. Never can understand why men look better as they age. How did woman get the short end of that stick. :rolleyes2

Karen, Oh yes, DH has a vacation spreadsheet. He and I confirm on it at least monthly. We had to make changes this year because a number of his family backed out of the Alaska cruise for next year. After all the recent cruise incidents, a number of very sane adults became cruise phobic. We really wanted to go to Ireland instead anyway. So we will be going and taking DMIL and possibly DSIL. Plus we will spend a week in WDW just the two of us later in December. Oh, I should mention that we will be in England in 2010. I know, we are freaks!

They are having the same old debate of dressing for dinner on the main cruise board. I really don't have any issue with what other people wear to dinner. Well, as long as it isn’t a "Tiny Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini." :) But I thought I would see what everyone likes to wear to dinner. No fights here guys!

For us we wear:
Most nights - DH wears a polo shirt and Dockers & I wear a sundress or skirt with a blouse and nice sandals
Semi-Formal Night - DH wears a black suit (He usually wears it again for Formal night.) and I wear a black cocktail dress.
Formal Night - Pretty close to Semi-Formal night. This year I was debating on a tux for DH, but am having a time trying to justify the expense to DH. What do you all think? I will be wearing a dress that I wore at a conference or a more formal dress if DH wears the tux. I have a formal that I need to lose 20 pounds to squeeze myself back in to. But I'm working on that.

Now if someone else dresses like they are going to the Oscars, that's fine with me. And if someone wants to wear a tropical shirt on formal night, that's ok with me too. I know a lot of people that have to get dressed up for work really don't want to have to dress up on vacation. I just love getting a bit dressed up for dinner. There aren't many places around central Illinois to do that. So I take advantage of any reason to get spiffed up.

Wow, sorry this is so long. I took today off so I can watch the Disney specials on the Travel Channel today. So I have some extra time on my hands. OK, I really do have a problem. :guilty:

Eva for formal night I wear a pair of dress slacks and a blazer with with shirt and tie. Kathy wears a nice dress or pant suit.

Kathy and I had dental appointments this morning. While I was getting my teeth cleaned, she took Katie to preschool. Being the girls that they are, they were flapping their lips and Kathy drove right by the school. Katie told her "Grandma you are driving me crazy!" Out of the mouth of babes. Mike

I've never been to Ireland but I'm going on a 3 night cruise with DD to Cork in August. It's a special cruise for fans of Models Prefer make-up - have you heard of that? The owner of the brand, Stacey Schieffelin, organised it and as my DD is a big fan I got roped into going too! I hope to get to Dublin with DH in the not too distant future as we have friends there...

Gosh, they really can't leave that one alone, can they? I really don't see how the clothes someone else is wearing can affect your cruise! :confused3 But what do I know...?

Most nights: DH will probably wear casual short-sleeved shirts and chinos. I'll wear capris, sleeveless top, a cardigan and sparkly mules.
Semi-Formal Night: We'll both wear our Vow Renewal outfits (whatever thay might be) as we're eating at Palo's that night...
Formal Night: DH will wear a suit and smart shirt. I'll probably wear a silk dress, strappy sandals, matching purse and jewellery...
...I took today off so I can watch the Disney specials on the Travel Channel today. So I have some extra time on my hands. OK, I really do have a problem. :guilty:
Wish they had Disney specials on over here - that would've made for a very good day... :thumbsup2

Well Karen, you helped me make up my mind. Since we are eating together and your DH is wearing a suit on formal night, I will not pester my DH into wearing a tux. He can just take one suit and change the look for semi-formal and formal nights by changing to different color shirts and ties. What an easy decision. Now I don't have to lose 20 pounds to fit in my more formal dress! :woohoo:

Eva, I thought long and hard about the tux issue and decided I'd rather see my DH in a nice new suit and a dressy shirt for Formal Night and our VR. I absolutely love him in a suit (even tho' he wears one everyday to work) and not only does this give him an opportunity to get a new one, but it also means he can splash out as he'll get a lot of wear out of it. I'm happy I could help you with your decision... :thumbsup2

My DS13 wants to wear a tux when we go on the Mexican Riviera cruise next year so I'll hopefully be able to rent them one each then - it'll be worth it for the photos... ;)

Mike, That is a cute story. Right now all my DGD can say is Hi!, Thank you, Don't!, No!, Kitty Cat, Doggie, Yep!, Mommy, and Daddy. She can repeat about anything you say. But she only really understands those words. My DD says it will be great when she can say full sentences. I keep warning her. ;)

Karen, I like your idea. Instead of renting a tux, put the money towards a new suit they can wear more often.

I got the results from my second blood draw. My pregnancy hormones were at 5,898 (from 2,970 two days earlier), so that is good. I have an appointment to go see the nurse practitioner on 4/30 at which point I will be just over 6 weeks along (I will be 4 weeks tomorrow). They told me to plan to be there a couple hours. I guess the nurse will be giving me all the information I need. They called me in some prenatal vitamins today which I have to start taking along with progesterone supplements. I will let you know how the meeting with the nurse goes and/or if there is any news.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers! I really appreciate it.

Melody

My Mother (God rest her soul) Had two sayings.

"When you have babies, you can't wait for them to walk and talk. When they get older, you can't wait for them to sit down and shut up"

" Grand children are God's gift to you for not killing your own:rotfl: "

Amen, Mike!

Good news Melody!

I Love These!!! I can't wait to share the first one with DD9 who is constantly trying to get DD 3 1/2 mos to talk!

Eva, Karen! Slow down on addin' the points! I want to catch up with you!:worship:
Okay...so how old are you both for this 6 days apart b-day? :bday:
I am 45 on May16th. I have tried to do something memorable each birthday since I turned 40. I decided for my 40th that I wasn't going to be depressed getting older, that I was going to do things that were memorable for each year in the future. Like first time to go White Water Rafting, or my first (and last) tatoo, my first trip to WDW. This year is a first for a Disney Cruise! I guess, eventually, one of the first would have to be liposuction. :lmao: Maybe not. Anyway, you two seem to have it altogether, very organized and on a mission so to speak. I love the fact that you are 'game' for lots of new adventures and you take action to get there.
I know why I like Disney so much. Why do you like it? What are the details, the specifics that keep you both...you all who are reading this...coming back for more and more? I ask only because everyone has their own likes. I am interested in what WDW gives you that causes you to want to come back time and time again versus going somewhere else to spend your vacation time? Sorry if this sounds a little analytical and serious; not meaning to come off that way. I am just curious. I love Disney for the consistant
high quality in customer service and entertainment. I feel like I can depend on getting the most bang for a buck and consistantly clean and safe environment. What do you think?

Re: What to wear when: :clown:
I also to don't really care what others are wearing, sans the yellow polka dot bikini, as long as they are pleasant and decently behaved.
(wendy = promises to behave to a certain point and then when the 'drink(s)' kick in all bets are off!) I hope to meet up with both of you ...all of you on this cruise! If we all have anything in common it is DISNEY!

Stacy, Sandi, and all
Thanks for your repsonse to my questions reqarding shore excursions. I appreciate all of the inside info; it will save alot of hassels. Much appreciated! :)

Do you think that a first Disney Cruise would be wasted if NO shore excursions were taken? Perhaps the word(s) of the PV should be: RELAX (and drink as much as possible)?

Thanks for your repsonses, Wendy
