September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

hence the cruise! And we can't wait! /
/QUOTE]

Penny sounds like a great plan to me. The cruise for sure will be a wonderful escape from the "real world" and for me it was so stress free. Difficult returning to this real world after 7 nights of being stress free.

Looking forward to hopefully meeting at least to say hi.:goodvibes

Yea brady - all the places we did not get to go to in Key West - drat the trolley that hit every pot hole in Key West and drat that cold windy day!!!! September may turn out to be warmer and prettier! Hope so for you

DisGal

Yeah I hope weather is better and I can check more out on Key West. But ya know since you didn't get to see what you wanted, I guess that means you should be going again in Sept <G>

It should be nice and warm in September in Key West. Marsha, there should be someplace there on Duvall street to get a piece of Key Lime Pie. Mike

If there is I am sure to fine it :goodvibes

Anyone else up for some key lime pie?

Hey all  What's up??? :goodvibes

Key lime pie??? I don't think so. I don't think it's something I'd like. However if you post over on the main thread...ask Shirly Brown (Owner of the Perfect Gift) about where the "best" place in town would be. She's from Key West...and know all the "best" places to go. She'll also send you all sorts of info from Key West...things to do, places to see, maps, pamplets and what nots if you ask...and if she's going to Key West sometime before our cruise. All she asks is $ for shipping costs. I know she's posted on the main cruise thread before a few of the best places for Key Lime pie.

Has anyone head of Kinos? The shoe place in Key West. From what I hear/read they have some great shoes at a super good price. And I think there made right there. If you do a search on line you should be able to find them....just google em if your intrested. ;)

Marshmello....

In Key West we also plan to just go on our own. Last cruise we were scheduled to dock during the Fanasty Fest....which oddly we were looking forward to seeing. (we love people watching...and what a better time to watch than at a Festavle called "Fanasty Fest...Freaks, Geeks and Goddesses". This time we'll just have to make due with the regular crowd in Key West....which should be entertaining enough.

"In Grand Cayman, I definitely want to snorkel somewhere." This is exactly what I want to do as well. We've booked with Capt Marvins both years...and have heard nothing but good reviews from fellow disers about them. So more than likely we'll book one of their trips again. I'm thinking the one with three reefs/shipwrecks and a stop at stingray city "Shipwreck & Reef Snorkeling Grand Cayman"

"In Cozumel.

Cozumel Ruins & Beach Tour Cozumel" I've also heard this is a LONG day...which ends up being mainly travel. But I've also heard the beach time on this excursion is awesome.

"I don't know about the ruins one. I've heard that it is a LONG HOT walk to the ruins, as well as a long drive."

"In Castaway Cay, we are just going to relax at Serenity Bay....looking forward to that!" We'll be doing alot of relaxing here also. Last time we stayed on the family beach...which was great. But I'd love to venture back down to the adult area for some photos. I also want to just wonder around the island more taking random photos....after all it is the perfect backdrop.

...The doctor just put me on a new medication yesterday that says to avoid sun exposure. Yikes! How will I do that on a cruise? I don't consider myself a true sun worshipper, but I had planned on a couple hours by the pool or on the beach each day. We'll still be on the cruise, but our plans while on the cruise may have to change a bit.
Have you any ideas how to deal with this, Eva? Some years ago I had to take medication which increased my sensitivity to the sun - Dr told me the main thing was to wear a hat to protect my face and scalp plus I had to keep my ears plastered in sun block as it's mainly the areas of thinner skin that are affected. Fingers crossed that it won't impair your enjoyment...
Karen, we have to start a book club on the cruise. :thumbsup2
We really should, Eva! Mind you, there's so much going on I'm not sure how much reading I'll actually do! I've ordered some books from Amazon by the authors you recommended - can't wait for them to arrive. :thumbsup2 Did a bit of research to make sure I read 'em in the correct order but I'm so pleased to have a new bunch of authors to look out for - I read so fast...

We made our first trip to WDW in December 2000 - delayed honeymoon - and have been back five times since then, joined DVC in 2003, and added points last year :) The dilemma is - having the kids there - we have to see them, and we love to see them ... but we feel like we've lost our Disney "escape" because they're there ... hence the cruise! And we can't wait! The cruise will be our escape -- then a week at VWL and seeing the kids will be the family time!
Hi Penny! DH and I have just joined DVC - we've bought VWL through The Timeshare Store and I cannot wait to visit! The earliest I think I'll manage it is mid-December with my DS14 - it'll be his Christmas surprise... :santa:

scrapperjill, I think that I agree with you on the Key Lime Pie. I hear that they all have graham cracker crusts, like the ones my MIL makes. Not that her cooking is bad, I just do not like graham cracker crusts on any kind of pie. Kind of funny because I like plain old graham crackers.

Karen, I know what you mean about having time on the cruise for a book club. Maybe we can just exchange books at dinner. Have you called to link our reservations together yet? I'm just getting ready to that this afternoon. I'm not sure if we both have to, but it doesn't hurt. Still looking for another couple or two that would like to share a table with two crazy couples celebrating their 25th. If no one bites, I'm sure we'll still have a great time during meals.

I"ll probably have a better idea what the sun is going to do to me during the summer. I do a lot of yard work. I usually wear a sunscreen, but still get a pretty good tan. My grandmother was a Native American Indian, so I tan pretty easily. But I have been known to burn slightly from time to time.

For excursions I'm fairly certain we are going to stick with this:
* Key West - Short walking tour, maybe jump on the trolley
* Grand Caymen - Stingray City
* Cozumel - Stay on the ship and relax
* Castaway Cay - Mostly hang out on Serenity Bay, DH will be parasailing

I'll try some, Marsha! :thumbsup2

We have similar plans - tho' we'll probably do something in Cozumel just not sure what at the moment and, as I'm a wuss, I'm not too keen on the notion of having to contend with street vendors...

Cozumel is still in the planning stages. Mike

Well, I've completed another of the planning stages for our trip - booked a room at the Hyatt in MCO for the night prior to the cruise. Just got to add on DCL transfers and that's the first leg done and dusted. I've also pre-booked our seats on the flight today - silly really but it makes me feel like I'm doing something! :cool1:

Getting excited now...

I finished another bit of our trip yesterday as well. I booked our stay at Pop and purchased our WDW tickets :goodvibes Then I booked our stay for the Saturday we get off the ship at the All Star Movies resort. We've never stayed there so we thought we'd give it a try and see how it was.

Last time after the cruise we stayed at the all star sports resorts.

Going to the parks after the cruise helps to soften the blow of returning to reality. Mike

That is so true, Mike. After our cruise in May 2005, DD and I went to the Beach Club for 7 nights to enjoy the Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot - overall it was a fantastic vacation! :thumbsup2

Sadly DH has to get back to London after the cruise tho' I will be back in WDW a few days later with DD to have fun at MNSSHP AND the Food & Wine Festival! Can't wait...

Key Lime Pie - um, I am not too sure. One girl at work bought a Key Lime Pie one day and it was really good, but the next time I tried one was at the Cheesecake Factory and I was not thrilled with it at all. I guess it is worth a try again, well see.

I need to hire all of you to help plan our trip!! LOL!! I really have not even looked much into it yet (although this trip has really been somewhat planned for 3 years now:laughing: ). I am headed to Las Vegas in 2 weeks with some friends that have never been there before, so I have been trying to plan things to do there. Maybe once I get back I can get more into the cruise planning.:hippie:

We will probably not do Disney when we get back. Since it is Football season for my son and he will already have missed a game, we will probably get back for his game on that Sunday.

Kathy

I'm not sure if we'll do a park when we get of the ship either....but at least we'll be staying on property. The biggest (really only) reason were even staying is because of the flight deals we got. They had a super good deal for flights leaving at 7am...and of course we couldn't make the 7am flight on Sat...so we're doing the 7am flight on Sun.

We did talk about maybe trying out a water park that day...but who knows...a park may be nice as well. ;)

Definitely key lime pie you must get the real thing not one of those "jello" types. A true key lime pie I enjoy but the "fake" ones nope, nada.

I hear the ones in Key West are the "real" mccoy. Don't know as I haven't had any but I do hope to in Sept <G>

hey remember we have like 7 months to plan, so enjoy vegas and then focus on crusing <G>

There's a bakery on Duval St that is just wonderful... Key Lime Pie:cool1:
And for all...
We are one more day closer to Vacation:banana:
