September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

Hello there!!!
I'm 16 weeks now and feel like I'm just getting back from hell. I've spent much of the last 14 weeks with my face plastered to the couch and I am just peeling it off now. Whooosh, not a fun ride!!!! I have an ultrasound during the first week of school so hopefully I'll be able to annouce BOY or GIRL on the cruise. My official due date is January 28th and hopefully I'll be able to keep my legs crossed until then. (the further from xmas the better)

I would like to take advantage of my year off (canadian mat leave is 52 weeks:banana: ) to do some travelling. We've always been a family on the go and I don't want to stop now. I'ts a big planet eh. So re-booking might be in our future.

Hope all is well
Michelle

So glad to know you're doing better!:grouphug:
52 weeks of leave... now that's a very nice incentive for having kids!!!

A bit of good news... The wristbands arrived today!:cool1:  :cool1:
Every single one labled and priced for each family and for each cruise!!

And if I spend my $$$ right for the 3 weeks... save me a spot on that couch!:yay:

Fantastic! Our DD thinks thats the coolest thing going. Thank you once again for organizing them. It will certainly make us identifiable on the ship. Can't wait to see them.:woohoo:

AHhhhh:eek:

Just got DD blood tests back.

She is now officially allergic to

Peanuts
Tree Nuts
Fresh tomatoes
Sesame
Chick Peas

At the end of this the only thing left will be Tennesse Spring Water.

Sorry. Just needed to vent. :scared1: :scared1:

You are welcome. They are cool!

Fat Cat... ouch! Make sure DCL knows about the allergies, they can be a BIG help. You may want to think about a medic-alert band for her. Dh and mine are still on order.:thumbsup2

Hi everyone!

Has anyone ever dropped off pillowcases to get them signed by Disney characters? I'm thinking of ringing the changes and doing it with cushion covers as I collect Disney cushions. Plus I have a couple of plain off-white bolster-shaped ones that would look fab covered in multi-coloured signatures! I believe you can choose from Mickey and Friends and/or Princesses. I'm hoping that the concierge will be able to fix it so that we get one of each... :cloud9:

It's getting so close now and I'm very excited. At least I would be if I didn't still feel so awful - my sore throat has developed into a full-blown cough/headcold and I'm having terrible trouble sleeping. Ah well, hopefully it'll pass...

Great news about the wristbands, Ann! :thumbsup2

Bad news about your DD's allergies, FatCat! That really sucks... :sad2:

And Marsha, if you're out there, we're thinking of you...

Good morning all. Hope that everyone has a great day. Another day closer to the cruise. Mike

Karen, I heard that you can take the items to Guest Services. Put all your items in a zip lock bag with all the color pens... they suggest NO Yellow... it doesn't show up as well. Take it on Sunday(they say it's the best day) and dont forget to put your cabin # on it. Some have had it delivered to their room.:thumbsup2
Ive seen some pics of the pillow cases... they look awsome. I just might do that for 4 of my grandkids. What a surprise for them.:yay:

HOORAY! ONLY 39 DAYS!!!!!

Karen, I sure hope you start feeling better real soon. :flower2:

Chris, So sorry about DD's allergies. Is she allergic enough that she goes into anaphylactic shock? I just wondered if you have to worry about that type of emergency. Hopefully she will grow out of it. I was allergic to tomatoes, strawberries, and all citrus fruit when I was a kid. Thank goodness I grew out of it. Anytime I ate anything containing one of those things I looked like I had been lying out in the sun for a week and my skin was on fire. I know that some peanut allergies can be pretty bad. I hope everything goes well. As Ann said, be sure to notify DCL about it.

Ann, Thanks for mentioning the pillowcases for your grandkids. I hadn't really paid much attention to doing this because I really don't need one myself. But I think our grandkids would probably enjoy them. Do you get fabric pens for this? Oh, I forgot how much the wristbands are. If you could post that again, I would be grateful. I just want to make sure I have the right amount of cash for you.

They do look fab don't they?! :thumbsup2 I'm very much looking forward to getting my cushions done. They'll be totally individual souvenirs of our Magical cruise... :cloud9:

Sharpies seem to be the most recommended pens... :thumbsup2

I have some conflicting information and I thought maybe someone here might help clear this up for me. We are going to WDW after the cruise. I found out a couple weeks ago that my favorite ride, Rockin Rollercoaster is going to be refurbished this fall. Here on the DIS they have the dates 09/04 to 10/04. That would stink because we are leaving the morning of 10/05. This would mean that I won't get to ride it this year. But I was just reading Deb Willis' newsletter and she has the dates listed as 09/04 to 09/30. Oh, I hope she is right. Does anyone have any other information that would corroborate one or the other?

Everything I've read elsewhere (intercot, wdwmagic) suggests it's down until 10/04, Eva. Maybe you'll be able to swing by the Studios on your way home...

DD and I are pretty upset as BTMR is down whilst we're in WDW and I'm not sure that the MK will feel quite the same without the wildest ride in the wilderness!

Thanks for the information. I was just hoping that Deb was right. Here's what she has on her site: http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/rehabs.htm Scroll down to September 2007. But it sounds like she is the only one. :sad1: Unfortunately, I won't have a pass for 10/05. While it is my favorite, I don't think I can talk Steve into paying $75 each just to ride it. We are using a couple of old Hopper Passes for this trip and are only going into the theme parks 2 days. Thanks again!

Sorry about BTMR. It seems that going in the fall it is more likely to have this happen. This is the first time that we have gone this time of year. Looks like some of the more popular rides close in September for refurbishment. I will make sure that our trip with our grandkids is in May, when we normally go. I don't ever remember any of the major rides being down the first week of May.

This is the first time we've gone in the Autumn/Fall and it'll be interesting to see if it feels any different. I've really got the WDW blues at the moment. :sad1: This time last year we were staying for 2 weeks in the Polynesian, having one of our best extended family vacations ever! Our recent sojourn in Spain was lovely but nothing beats that Disney fix... :cloud9:

Are you going next May, Eva? DD and I will be at VWL from May 3rd - 11th. If you're around maybe we could meet up for a drink or two..? ;)

Well, we are taking the grandkids in 2009. But I am very tempted to go just Steve and I this May (2008). Steve won't let me bring our little Lexy until she is at least 3. So I have to wait until 2009 to bring the whole family. How rude of him! Well, I probably shouldn't be mad at him today. Because today is our actual 25th Wedding Anniversary. But we are not celebrating until the cruise.

How fantastic! I can't believe you kept that quiet!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thanks Karen! Well Steve should be home soon and we are going to have a nice dinner and just relax in the jacuzzi tub with a bottle of wine.;) See you all tomorrow!

WOW...I needed to catch up.

I know your disapointment with RnR at MGM....we're planning a trip to WDW before the cruise and had planned on going to MGM...mainly for RnR and Tot. I JUST found out last weekend about RnR being down. The WDW site said it's until the 30th.:thumbsup2 Hopefully for you that'll work in your favor. We still plan on doing MGM before the cruise...so maybe I can check into it while I'm there and let you know what (if anything) I find out. I've NEVER ever been to MGM so....I can't say for sure I'll find anything out. But I'll try.

Pillowcases... We've done this on both of our cruises so far. Both times we made up an image then ironed it onto the pillowcase....Once on the ship we put them in a ziplock with the pens (lots of colored sharpies) along with our names and room number. Last time we also left a photo mat. Now...the first time we did it...like I mentioned we included a brand new package of lots of colored sharpies...BUT NON of them were used. The pillowcases came back with all black...and my package of pens wasn't even opened.:confused3 The following year we didn't even include sharpies...not even a black on. And both the pillow cases and photo mat came back with colorful sigs. One thing that I was disapointed with was.....the lack of variety or amount of signatures. On the pillow case we had an image (it was a photo that we scanned and printed on the iron on transfers) of the most common disney characters (Mickey, Pluto, Minnie....and so on)...and they were the ONLY ones that signed it. I was wanting ALL the characters...but only got what was on the image. Same goes for the photo mat. Although I didn't have a pic included with it...they only had 7 characters sign it (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Chip & Dale, Donald, Daisy and Pluto)...I guess that's 8 if you count Chip & Dale as two..they signed as one...so I just counted it as on. Anyways...IF i was to do either again.....I'd make sure to leave a note that said exactly what I wanted....Like "Please have ALL of the disney characters sign this item in various colors...the more the better, Thanks". I've also heard of some cool items being dropped off for signing....things like hats/caps aprons, scrapbook pages....all sort of things. The first year we also had some tee-shirts with an iron on transfer that we dropped off.

I want to say we've always dropped ours off the first night...and they say they'll be delivered to the stateroom by the end of the week.

OH....one word of advice. If you do do something like the mat board (photo mat) 1.) Pick an easy size to travle with...I went with a HUGE 22x24 one...and it wasn't the easist thing to pack....yes it was flat and did lay in the bottom of the suit case easly...but a smaller one would have been even easer. 2.)...take some of the blue painters tape or a pencil and mark off the edges where the photo frame with be so they don't sign there.....3.) put on the sides or back which way is the top....do you want the frame to be vertical or horzional??...and it keeps all the characters signing in the same direction.
