September 2016 Trip Thread!!!!

We will be there from the 11-15. I'm trying to stay positive with the number of things on the refurb list and changes in the entertainment schedule. We don't usually watch the parades, but had actually considered a dining package for PTN until we realized it is over on the 5th. And, we didn't hit any of the Tom Sawyer Island rides last year. Looks like we'll miss that again.

I've read it's a trade-off during the slower times of the year. More refurbs for lower crowd levels. I just hadn't taken in to consideration the end of the 60th celebration bringing changes too.

My job is seasonal, so I have to go when I can get time off. There is so much to do. I just hope there aren't any more surprises!

Frozen will be taking a break after 5 Sep per the daily schedule. No word yet on if/when it will return. https://disneyland.disney.go.com/ca/calendar/daily/?day=20160906

For what it's worth, I just got off the phone with a CM. I called because I was concerned that Frozen AND Disney Jr (which also is not on the schedule) would be dark during our September visit. The CM told me that the only entertainment that has been scheduled for September for DCA is WOC. She could not give me anything definitely, but she said that the entertainment schedule for "early September" would likely go up no later than August 15. She said that's when we could likely know when Disney Jr, Frozen, and Pixar Play will be offered, if they are offered.

I really hope this isn't true, and if it is I wish they would just announce it! This is so frustrating. Why don't they just officially announce everything that's ending after the 5th all at once instead of a comment here or a tweet there or posting incomplete schedules. If this is true it would be really strange though. Didn't this show just debut in May?

It is on the Disneyland website, under the things to do tab. If you go to the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration:

Special Event
May 22, 2015 - September 05, 2016
Sadly Frozen is listed with those events ending.

That's just dumb! Why go through all the trouble of getting rid of Aladdin and spending a fortune on this new show, only to show it in the summer??? I mean literally 3 months! I really don't understand what the execs at Disney are thinking!!!

Anyone have any details on the Indiana Jones refurb? Starting mid month. Any end date info?

I don't understand this, either. Why not just leave Aladdin through the summer? Why incur the expense of changing out the theater for a new show only to discontinue it? Something else has to be going on here.

Maybe it has something to do with the upcoming Marvel changes in that area of the park....

One of our other members here, "Sherlee", called Disney directly and was told it's only a two day closure.
I was sweating this too since we'll be there that week!

As an update, the official calendar now shows IAJ closed through weds the 14th now. So at least three days now.

I just got off the phone with Disney dining, and the CM said it's only the pre-show packages that are ending, not the show itself. He said we'll just need to get fastpasses for the show.

Ugh...that's too bad. I was really hoping to take advantage of the pre-show package! the frozen FPs are disconnected though, right?! Can i have 3 FPs at the same time? RSR, WOC, Frozen?

You are correct, the show FPs (WOC and Frozen) are not connected and you can hold both show FPs and one attraction one. Actually, if you sent someone over to DL with the tickets you could have both shows and one attraction from each park!

good to know! THANK YOU!!

Are we still waiting and hopeful that they will post a schedule for Pixar Play Parade and Disney's Junior Live on Stage after the 5th?

Oh good! We don't really care to see it but the more people who are lined up to get FP's in the morning the less there will be at other things.

I am thinking my plan will be to go to Soaring first, then TSMM, make our way through Paradise Pier, hit Grizzly River Run, all while watching the FP return times for RSR cause I really want to ride it at night. Then hop to DL. I also want to fit ToT in at night too at some point too...

They sure are lagging on some of the entertainment after the 5th. It's 30 days until our trip and still no fireworks on the weekends or Frozen musical at all on the schedule. Oh and no Pixar Parade either.

Well hopefully that means they aren't expecting crowds, or that crowds will stay away because it's so dead...

Yeah, no fall entertainment schedule released yet, 5 weeks out. That's deplorable.
