September 2014 hours were released and it's weird...

Yep, nothing better than all parks closing before 10 with EMH on the same nights.

Sorry if things aren't the way you want them for your trip. For my trip, it's exactly what I was hoping/expecting. A MNSSHP on the 23rd (judging by the 7pm closing). EMH at Epcot on the 24th. DHS open till 9 on the 25th.

The stars aligned for me.

You can have all the MNSSHP nights you need but to have EMH on the same evenings is flat out BS.

Perhaps...but since it doesn't affect me or my trip (at the moment) I really don't care. Thanks for posting the calendar though! I was wondering when it would come out...and I suspect there may yet be some changes to it.

Park hours are always very short when the calendar is first released. There will be major updates (based partially on resort capacity) about a month out. These hours will get extended, but not for MNSSHP and Night of Joy, of course.

We've gone in Sept. for many years now and we've never seen a calendar like this before. We're super-planners, so I always look at the first calendars released and this calendar is really odd. While we have noticed that typically about a month before or so a few park hours will be adjusted (usually by just an hour or 2), we have never seen anything start out like this before. I'm really hoping it's just a glitch and not a new plan by Disney, but we'll see.

How soon before Josh (easywdw) and Len (touringplans) update their crowd predictions?

My wife and I will be there 9/9-9/16. The doubled PM-EMH on Monday the 15th really screws us over. The only Epcot EMH is on our anniversary (9/10), which we planned on spending at the MK (Dinner at BOG).

How hard is it to catch Wishes and immediately get to Epcot for EMH? Is it even worth the bother? I was thinking Boat to the TTC, then the monorail.

I am the same way. This calendar is brutal. I was stunned when I read it.

They're showing the AK parade, so I would imagine there would definitely be changes coming.

ETA ~ And no parade at MK? Isn't the new one starting before then?

They won't get rid of the AK parade on the calendar until an official announcement of it's closing. Similarly, they won't add the MK parade until its start date has been officially announced.

From easywdw.com:

"There are no “errors” on the schedule and what you see linked is exactly what’s available internally. Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade is expected to end in June around the same time as the Festival of the Lion King theater in Africa opens. That has not been formally announced and the Parade will continue to be listed until an end date is confirmed. Likewise, Disney has not announced the start date of the new Festival of Fantasy Parade, even though it’s widely speculated to be in the middle of March. Festival of Fantasy should certainly be running in September, but Disney won’t add it to an official operating schedule until the start date is formally announced.

There were a few questions about two evening Extra Magic Hours on Mondays with the addition of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party on Sundays. The bottom line is that Disney is trying to sell as many tickets to those Parties as possible. With no Extra Magic Hours scheduled on Sundays, people are more likely to purchase tickets. If Disney moved the Studios’ evening EMH to Sunday and kept the Park open until 10pm, they would sell fewer tickets. I would not expect the Extra Magic Hours schedule to change unless they decide not to run the Halloween Party on Sundays. Remember that Halloween Party dates are not finalized and they have shifted in the past.

There are always questions regarding the initial release of an operating schedule as people compare the operating hours to last year. You can take a look at least year’s final schedule here. Disney always releases a conservative operating schedule first and then follows with an update closer to the start of the month. Before MyMagic+, those updates usually came just 2.5 weeks before the start of the month. Now they come about 3.5 months in advance. Look for a major update to September’s operating schedule around May 16th. The final schedule should look more or less the same as last year.

The recommendations are otherwise mostly what you would expect. Animal Kingdom comes tentatively recommended on Mondays even with the morning Extra Magic Hours attached because Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios will be so popular with evening EMH. Epcot is also tentatively recommended on Tuesdays during the Food and Wine Festival because it isn’t much more crowded than the recommended Mondays and Thursdays and is far less crowded than the weekends. Ideally, only people eligible for EMH that plan to arrive in time to take advantage of it would visit on those tentatively recommended days, but they’re not so bad that they come “not recommended.”"

I read that as well...

Park hours normally get extended. I am not really worried about that.

It's a nightmare trying to plan this vacation they way they have this set up right now though.

Disney wants you to book everything 180 days only so 20 days out they can change everything on this sheet. UGH!
