September 2012 roll call

11 sleeps :cool1::cool1:

Got my Disney cruise documents in the mail today. Had to hide in my bedroom to read it all. DD doesn't know about the cruise yet and not sure how/when to tell her.

I have the next 3 days off work then working right up until we leave. So the next 3 days are my last chance to make sure everything is done, bought, organised and to start packing.

oh i do love a parade/ surprise:cool1:

make sure you tell her when your out shopping or at the movies..just lean over to her and whisper it in her ear:duck:

Down to three sleeps here! :cool1::cool1:

Okay people, hand luggage question. We are on a night flight so my kids will be in trackies, long sleeved t-shirts to fly (plus the weather here is forecast to be cold and windy). Should I pack shorts and t-shirts to change into when they wake up (please let them sleep) before landing in LAX? I'm in a long sleeved tunic with leggings and won't find it hot when I land like little kids but I'm worried about the winkles. What to pack in the hand luggage for the boys please?

Off to the doctor today as the kids are still spewing ectoplasm from their nostrils.

try and keep them in their "jim jams" as long as possible, even if you change their clothes while waiting in the customs line.....also the toilets are filthy by the end of a long flight so try not to use them if putting clean clothes on, wait till your off the plane.

pack stuff in case your bags go missing for a few days, and when packing your main luggage if you have for example 4 bags for 4 people, put 25 % of each persons clothing in each bag, then if one of the bags goes missing, you have at least some clothes....i made that mistake once...never again will i go without....

I know you dont travel "up the back of the plane" Karen, but it beats me how anyone can do anything in airplane bathrooms besides the absolute essentials.

There is no way an adult and twin 4/5 year olds would fit in there to get changed!! :crowded:

I wont be joining the mile high club anytime soon!! :faint:

Oh, and you're right, they are absolutely gross by the end of the flight!!

Bought a bottle of milk this morning. The Use By date is the date we leave - now I really KNOW it's close :cool1:

Andona

re changing..i just was thinking that little men get a tad embarassed at that tender age of people seeing them in states of undress...my DS1 was horrified to have people see his undies @ 5yrs.....

also a reminder...DO NOT GO BARE FOOT INTO THE TOILETS......you don't want to know what is on the floors......

carry on for little people.....just put everything in zip lock bags....they cover a multitude of uses and can keep things tidier..

8 sleeps for me...this time in 8 days I will be sitting waiting for the doors to close.....ohhhhhh exciting times

a huiku for today

Oh weather channel
why did i chose to wear shorts
my legs are so white

happy days indeed:moped:

I am very bendy! And I only take one in at a time, the limited space works to my advantage as the kids can't kick up too much of a fuss and have to apply themselves!:rotfl:

Would you believe I now have one sort of well kid and one that needs different antibiotics as they are still sick. So I have to carry those on the plane and they require keeping cool.

But wait, there's more....

One child got hit by a water propelled rocket at Kindergarten and the doc suspects he may have cracked ribs. I'm hoping bruising. We can do bruising.

I want a smilie that's banging it's head up against a wall! Where's my smilie? I have snotty kids, suspected cracked ribs and my Disney parcel is AWOL. Argh.

YOU WIN

Will you have to have a docs cert to travel??? Will it be covered by travel insurance???? Why do our disney boxes love Memphis??? These and many more questions.....

OMG....maybe I will now wrap DH up in bubble wrap til we get to the airport.....then he's on his own:rotfl2:

Wow, what dramas! I hope everyone is better and there are no cracked ribs! DS2 has conjunctivitis but easily treated and should be gone in a few days. Babies and daycare, what can I say?! I just hope its nothing more than that until after we get home!

I am also no longer concerned with baby and time zones, he is awake all hours at the moment anyway so we will be good!

in our experience the airport is airconditioned anyway, so might be best to just change your little men in the bathrooms after customs/baggage retrieval etc but before getting out into the LA weather...

we wore pants/tshirts on the plane and i thought a cardi would be sufficient. when we landed at lax in nov, it was freezing cold, biting winds and bucketing down rain, so the first thing we did when we hit the curb was unpack hoodies/jumpers from our carry on luggage & checked luggage and get changed curbside.

perhaps wait and see what the weather is like in LAX once you hit the curb and then get changed, or change in the airport bathrooms, as they are at the very least cleaner and tidier.

...

just a thought

:scared1: Did you cross the path of a black cat that was walking under a ladder that fell down and broke a mirror!!!??

Yikes - I'm hoping for bruising too :thumbsup2

I'm booked in for a spray tan the day before we leave - otherwise I'd need to issue sunglasses to anyone within 500m of my whiter-than-white legs :scared1:

I have some tan to apply to me, my legs are also flourescent

Same here with the whiter than white arms and legs!!! I just bought some of that moisturizer that gradually couloirs you - hope it gives me a bit of color before I go!! :-)

I'm not worried that I'm pale, I figure everyone will be looking at my son as he'll be black and blue with green snot! That'll be far more interesting than my white lumpy legs.

all you people with orange legs:rotfl:

oh dear

Karen that pic is awful, it looks like a giant Disney turkey leg of which you are so fond.

48 hours and we are in the air!!! How much more trouble can we get into this week? Hmm, parcels have left Memphis, I've got soaked in tea tree oil and Alex got hit by a rocket. DH is away for the night on a work 'thing' and we all know how much of an individual he is, at least he can't flush his wedding ring again. :rotfl2:

Alex's teacher turned up last night at the house. This morning she's still beside herself about the accident. Alex is doing his best to cheer her up by going up and hugging her and saying in a loud voice 'it's okay you hit me with a rocket'. Sooner we get that child on the plane the better, there's a whole population of unsuspecting American's he can share his thoughts with just waiting for him to land.:rolleyes1

Gah!!! That's terrifying !

I saw a young girl yesterday who wasn't quite that bad....but nearly .

I've had a couple of spray tans before and I always go for the lightest colour they've got, I do NOT like orange :rotfl:
