September 2011 - We are going to Disney World {THIS MONTH}! (Third Thread)

Hello Everybody from the most magical place on earth and my smartphone (who pardon any errors, thinks it's smarter than me.) The dd's are still asleep, so I thought I would do an update.
Yay! Thanks for the update. Wish I were there (again)!! :rotfl:

Yup - figured it was easier to say that than DBFFDDWIALOODD - darling best friends forever's darling daughter who is almost like our own daughter - :lmao: - she and my dd are 4 years apart but are more like sisters than friends - she is coming with us on our trip
Oh so it is your BFFs DD who is also your DDs BFF. Awesome :lovestruc And that is amazing that you are taking her on your trip. So much fun!!

Our mousekeeper, Blanca, is the best ever. For newbies, some mousekeepers decorate your room using your toys or accessories and make towel animals for you. Not all do, but it is really cool to be surprised! Blanca is a gem. We had a big towel heart on the bed decorated with our hair flowers and a big towel swan by the tv. She also did little touches around the room and even tied the toilet paper in a bow. Lol

There are more people here than I have ever seen in the off season, but for the most part waits are not crazy long for rides. Even the buses are fine except for leaving MK after a kiss goodnight on Wed. (Not a party night so closed at 9 and EVERYBODY was there. Waited over 90 minutes for a bus to POP. Sooooo many people, but like I said the only crazy wait.

Our teacup headbands with our Alice shirts were really popular. It is cool that people are so friendly and talkative. We had a lot of people (even CM's )asking where we bought them. Unfortunatly, we missed getting a pic with Alice, because we only saw her once and we didn't line up because we were hungry (no food and it was 11 am). Bad decision- note: when you see a character line and it is important to you...get in it, don't wait for later.

We did see the fairies in their new home and it is sooooooo magical. I could live in that room- er, forest.

As for food. We are stuffed. Most meals are big enough to share and we are unused meal and snack credits are adding up. I am glad it is "free" because I would never buy the plan. We just can't eat that much and walk in the heat.

Actually the heat isn't that bad if you have had a hot summer. We left 105 and came to 92. Pass a sweater. Lol. The pool was tooo cold last night and I got out shivering.

Lovebugs are here and disgusting, however, so far they are not overwhelming the place. Just kind of gross.

Have fun with all the preps. You'll be here before you know it!

That is awesome that you have a great mousekeeper :)

Do you have any examples of wait times?

We did not have that problem with the dining plan, but we did use a meal credit and some snack credits on our way home. I saw some cute boxed candy you could use for the points for somewhere on the dis.

And update on HavenAlise - She is headed to AK and dinner at Hoop De Doo tonight at 5. Has anyone here ever gone to HDDR? It seems like fun!

Woohoo, thanks for the update, Marblies! And for everyone leaving today and tomorrow, have wonderful trips! I ran around getting everything we still needed, and everything to get us through the next week, then our high school football game last night. I came home with a group of rowdy cheerleaders! :rotfl: Now, we have a car wash fundraiser for oldest DDs chorus in 60 degree temps!:scared1:) At least we're staying busy while we're waiting!:thumbsup2 I'm hoping to get all of the clothes that still need to be packed taken care of this afternoon, but I'm not holding my breath. :rotfl2: I keep telling myself that it'll get done, I'm just impatient. One week from now, we're just crossing over into Florida!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

? for all seasoned WDW travellers....can you take a cooler into the parks and if so what can you take in? TIA
8 days to go!!

Yes, you can take a cooler into the parks. Not quite sure of the size, but it is listed on the Disney website.

:cool1: We leave tomorrow AM. I will try to post before we head out, but if not I would like to wish everyone a happy trip and we hope to see some of you there!

Have a wonderful and magical time!

I've lost track of how many are going this weekend; all I know is there is quite a few of us. I'm packing the car now and we should be pulling up to the CR around 12:30 PM today. See y'all there!

Martin

Enjoy your trip! Hope it's fantastic!

Hello Everybody from the most magical place on earth and my smartphone (who pardon any errors, thinks it's smarter than me.) The dd's are still asleep, so I thought I would do an update.

Little Hannah's postcard was mailed Thursday. We found Sorcerer Mickey to sign in HS. Hope you get it soon.

At check-in, I had to be a little assertive and ask them to look for a new room as per my request (which there is no record of). I was sweet and they eventually found me a ready room in building 5. It is awesome! We have a lake view from the fathest corner of the 4th flor which means no one sees our decorations, but we love them. Room 5413

Glad you are having fun! Hope the crowds aren't too bad. Are the waits really long? I am picturing waiting 45 minutes or more! That's my fear. Lol. We always go in the summer with tons of people so anything less than that, I can live with I guess.

Hope the love bugs are on the decline before we get there. My daughter flips out over flying insects.

Hope the rest of your trip is wonderful.

Today we are off to find a new costume for my son. He still thinks it's just for Halloween, but the costume we did buy him, he says is too hot and if it's too hot now in MD for him, then I can only imagine the complaining that will take place in Disney, so we have a new mission today. Then I am going to finish packing suitcases. Next weekend is to hectic to pack so it's getting finished while I still have time to do it. Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Starting to have a hard time sleeping. At this rate I am going to be so tired that I collapse on the bed when we finally get there! I wrote out our itenerary in my notebook again. I had several corrections to make to the old one because of swapping our ADRs around a bit. I really had hoped to be packed yesterday but it didnt work out like that so going to give it a try today.

This is the Minnie dress and hairbow. I made the dress and my cousin who makes little boys bow ties on etsy made the hairbow for me.

Hmm cant get the URL to work so here is the link: http://instagr.am/p/NLK8c/?ref=nf

Yay for everyone leaving this weekend! Have a magical time!

? for all seasoned WDW travellers....can you take a cooler into the parks and if so what can you take in? TIA
8 days to go!!

We've always taken in a soft sided cooler with a shoulder strap. We pack it with water, juice boxes for the kids and spray bottles (for those hot afternoons). We'll also throw in a couple of granola bars, if someone gets hungry between meals. We don't pack a full lunch or anything though.

They always look through our cooler at bag check-in, but never had any problems. Good luck!

Well, we're back! We had quite the trip.... Most of it was very fun and I can't wait to share all of the details. On the other hand, we're all sick. My oldest son was actually taken by ambulance to the hospital because he woke up in the middle of the night not being able to breath well and having something like an asthma attack. He has croup and bronchitis. They gave him a breathing treatment, steroids, and an antibiotic. He is doing much better now, thankfully! We spent the last two days of our trip taking it very easy. I will be sharing many more details and photos in the days to come. I'm just trying to relax and feel better.

Highlights:

Table Service Meals- Le Cellier lunch, Ohana dinner, Boma dinner, and Akershus dinner

Attractions- Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, and of course Toy Story Mania

We were amazed at how many people were just so generous. There were many times we got on a bus and someone would stand up for me so I could sit with the kids. I was also surprised that a few of the bus drivers were completely rude. One thing I didn't expect was just how loud every single place in WDW is. haha

We did receive a bit of pixie dust! We were standing in front of TSM and had just gotten fast passes. Our fast passes were for 5:45pm. A gentleman came up to us and asked us if we wanted his fast passes for 2:30pm. YES!!! We got to ride it twice!

Will we go again? Absolutely! Will we do some things different? Absolutely!

Well, we're back!

I do hope your son is feeling better!! My son had croup when he younger and was hospitalized for 2 days. It definitely can be scary!! Can't wait to hear about your trip and some of the things that you would do differently!:goodvibes

Oh no! Im sorry to hear about your son:goodvibes. Im happy to hear that hes better now though! On a trip about 4 years ago my brother had a seizure (hes never had one before) and ending up spending the night in Celebration hospital. He also had to spend the rest of the vacation in a wheelchair. Its rough getting over that bc you spend the whole trip paying a little to much attention to them making sure nothing else happens! Im happy to hear though that you will return! I cant wait to hear more!!

I am so glad your son is feeling better. My dd(11) had croup all the time until about 3 yrs ago. She would have it 2-3 times a yr and have to get decacron (sp?)shots and daily breathing treatments but I guess it doesn't faze me cause you get used to it when you have an asthmatic. It can be scarey to those who don't deal with it. Glad you still had a Magical trip! !!!! Thank you for all your time and effort in this thread. You are the best!!!!

Glad that overall you had fun, but sorry that your son had to go to the hospital. We had to visit Celebration hospital two years ago when my mom ended up being taken from Epcot by ambulance. She spent four days of our trip in the hospital. I know how scary it can be. Can't wait to hear more details.

So my son and daughter haven't been feeling well and we took them to the doctors today. My son has asthma and was having a really hard time breathing today. They are going to try a nebulizer with him in addition to the inhalers he uses. My daughter has an ear infection and my son has a sore throat. My husband and I both don't feel great today either. I a. Glad that we have 11 days until the World or we would all be a hot mess. Lol. Taking the weekend to feel better.

L Harper, so sorry to hear about your son, but glad he's okay. It's horrible to be sick and have to be on a plane. Get better soon!

DH and I got back very late on Thursday the 15th. I have been busy unpacking and doing laundry and getting groceries. Today I'm feeling very tired. I think the intense sun took it out of me this trip.

My take: Love bugs were not too much of a bother. Our last two days we really seemed to notice them around the water and the entrance of HS & MK.

The most fun I personally had was the Halloween party. It seemed as though all the CMs that were working were really into it and they made it special. The parade was wonderful and I really loved Hallowishes! We got a lot of comments from the CMs about our t-shirts we wore. So glad we didn't have hot costumes to wear! There were a few adults with costumes, but not that many. And we got about 6 lbs of candy!!!

The crowd levels were much as predicted, but in general seemed more populated than in previous Septembers we've been. The waits for the rides were pretty minimal. The heat really got to me this year for some reason. I had a little sun poisoning in my legs and that was painful. Please don't do what I did, which was to drink soda instead of water. They also have power drinks with electrolytes and those are a good bet as well. Take a fan that spritzes water if you have one. It saved my vacation. Literally.

The food was fantastic. In 8 days of eating, we didn't get one meal we didn't like. We did Cape May cafe for the first time and we loved it. Nice variety and food was hot. Other places we ate: LTTavern, Le Celier, La Chefs de France, Boma, 50's Prime Time and the Crystal Palace. All VERY good!

Another highlight was Cirque - La Nuba. This is our third time to see it and it never disappoints. Also we watched Fantasmic for the first time in many years and enjoyed it very much. Illuminations and Wishes and the MSEP were all just beautiful as well.

The Wilderness Lodge was beautiful and quiet. Our room was only on the second floor, but we had a nice view of the lake. Our mousekeeper was great. We got a total of 4 towel animals and one day she switched the toiletries to different locations. All the CMs at WL were so helpful and friendly too.

For those of you who are about to go, have a wonderful trip. For those who have a bit of a wait yet, hang in there, it'll be here before you know it. Any specific questions, just let me know. Now, I'm going back to read all the pages I missed while gone...you September peeps have been busy!! I love this thread!

Welcome back, ladies!! L-Harper, sorry about your son, that's so scary! I hope everyone feels better soon! I'm glad you had a good time, and can't wait to hear the rest!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

ugh I'm having a down kind of day suddenly :(

I'm just coming to the realization that we can't afford for me to be a stay at home mom anymore. It's breaking my heart. I've been t hinking about it all day and i've had tears brimming in my eyes constantly. but I think it's time we admit that we just can't do it on one income.

it seems like we are always playign catch up with the bills and that makes me uncomfortable. I don't want to have to scramble to pay the bills and always be behind and then when something breaks or we have an unexpected expense we have to put off other bills.

ugh I'm just stressed and sad

I was so sorry to read this, but then I was glad later on to read that your dear hubby made you feel better. I was a stay at home mom and felt so blessed to be able to do that. We weren't able to take many trips or do some of the other fun things, but we still had lots of good memories. Good luck with your decision!

9 DAYS!!!!!!!!! On-line check-in at the WL is complete and we are starting to get everything ready to pack. This trip is over a year in the making and I can't believe that it is almost here!
!

We just returned from WL two days ago. When we got off the ME bus, there was a CM waiting just outside the entrance to the hotel with a clip board who knew who I was before I even told her! You will love it there and the boat ride to MK is so pleasant! Enjoy!

I AM excited about these field trips! With us, it's a given, because we chaperone everything. The teachers some to us first, because it's widely known that we like to help. And, for the most part, I like teenagers!:rotfl2: The ones that will be rooming with me for both MB and TN are amazing girls who I've known since kindergarten, so that helps. Hoping for good luck with the WDW trip, too, but their teacher is pretty stringent on their behavior as well, so we don't normally have any problems. :thumbsup2 It makes coming back from Disney a lot less painful, since we know we're not taking a family trip next year!:yay:

Sounds like so much fun! DH and I were always chaps for our kids too and it was great fun getting to know the other kids over the years. What great trips you get to go on also! Sweet!

Hope you are all feeling better. Glad it happened early enough to allow time for recovery before your trip!

ETA: It took me 3 hours to read all the posts since I've been gone!! We've got to be the most prolific group on the boards! I'm so excited for everyone who has yet to go. All the surprises planned and the clothes made and meets going on...what fun! Have a blast people!

One more thing: I just wanted to add that our 10 day forecast was for rain every day and we only had rain twice. One was a huge downpour for about 1/2 hour and one was a sprinkle that didn't even count to me. So, you should all be good to go on that score. :thumbsup2

I hope your right and that no rain prevails. When we went in June there was so much rain that I hope this time we do without. :goodvibes
