September 2011 - We are going to Disney World {THIS MONTH}! (Third Thread)

Tonight is the last day I have to cook ! Having dinner out with a friend tomorrow, and then getting subs on Thursday and having dinner out Friday! So happy! Might have to do dishes once or twice more and thats it!

Last night my boyfriend started his clothes packing and asked me to look over what shirts he was bringing...so when he wasnt in the room I snuck in a shirt my mom and I had got him for the trip back in June! So he came in and went through his pile one by one to show me and was so excited to see an early birthday/trip present! Have what I'd like to bring laid out...now need to decide whether I really need to bring it all! lol. I always have a problem with what to wear the day we leave home and arrive at Disney. It is suppose to be in the 60's the morning we leave WI and always cold on the plane...but hot hot hot when we get to Orlando! What do you wear traveling and to arrive in?

Oooo I love that site...off to check it out! Thanks!:surfweb:

How did I miss this yesterday? Thanks!

Started reading rumors and one was that there would be a superfluous amount of characters. I am not sure that would be enough for me to want to stay. Will talk to DH about it. But last time on the day we left DH was trying to convince me to stay just one more day, so I don't think it would be too hard to convince him.

10 days from today we start driving!! :drive:

I would love to stay on for the anniversary, but I've been overruled and will be listening to the ocean while staring at turquoise water. It's not Disney, but boy does it beat work!!:rotfl2:You have got a heck of a drive, girlie, be safe coming down south!:thumbsup2

Thanks, we will drive safely. I get the night shift because I don't require sleep, my kids trained me well ;)

ugh I'm having a down kind of day suddenly :(

I'm just coming to the realization that we can't afford for me to be a stay at home mom anymore. It's breaking my heart. I've been t hinking about it all day and i've had tears brimming in my eyes constantly. but I think it's time we admit that we just can't do it on one income.

it seems like we are always playign catch up with the bills and that makes me uncomfortable. I don't want to have to scramble to pay the bills and always be behind and then when something breaks or we have an unexpected expense we have to put off other bills.

ugh I'm just stressed and sad

I hear you. Although I am fortunate enough to be able to work from home, I would love to be a 100% stay at home mom, rather than a work-at-home and stay-at-home mom! Because I work for a real employer with real hours, I needed to have in-home care of the girls when they were younger, and now they go to preschool and elementary school during my work hours. It's hard not being the sole caregiver of my girls, but it's been a necessity. How old is your little one?

We are constantly re-assessing the chance for me to just be a full-time homemaker, but right now, this is where we are. I don't know if you've ever heard of it, but we took Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University course and it was life-changing (his 'Baby Steps' are so easy to follow: http://www.daveramsey.com/new/baby-steps). On days when I feel down about working, it helps me press on, knowing we are working towards long-term goals that will go beyond just keeping us ahead of our bills, but will also build a legacy for our children.

Hang in there. No matter what decision you make, as long as it's in the best interest of your family, it will be the right one! :grouphug:

I am SO sorry! :sad1: When my husband was laid off last year I decided try to go to work, and I balled hysterically while trying to apply places. (It was online so no one thought I was insane) I love being home with my kids, so I totally understand! :grouphug:

Would you be comfortable babysitting from your home? You could put up flyers around town or something? Maybe just one or two children would be enough extra money?

Do you coupon? I'm not talking "extreme couponining" (lol) but you can really shave SO much off of your monthly grocery bill. I rarely pay anything for toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, etc.....

Maybe you could try a home based business? I sold Tupperware for a year, and it was really great for me.

I recently read an article about "sidejobs" people can earn money at...I'm going to go find it!!!!

Like you it will be cool when we leave here and even colder when we get back.
I wear sweat pants or jeans and Mickey t-shirt and hoodie on plane to MCO. will change into shorts at airport. Hoodie and bottoms go into carry on.
On the way back I change into my "travel clothes" at the air port. I pack them in an outside pocket in the suitcase or on the very top of the main compartment.
12 days for us:banana::banana::banana:

I'm sorry you're having to make such an emotional decision about going back to work. If I had my way, every woman who wanted to stay home purely out of love for their children would be able to, including me.:sad2:But, we were just cutting it too close every month to ever be able to breathe comfortably, and if something unexpected came up, we were scrambling. Dave Ramsey DOES offer an amazing program, and it's worth checking out, believe me!:thumbsup2 Good luck, it will all work out the best way possible for your family if you just keep chugging!

sparks19 I hope your day has improved a bit! Thats an emotional decision to have to make, and I too would be a wreck! Right now, the way the economy is, being a stay at home mom is a luxury. Its so tough living off one income, we also are just getting by so I know the feeling. With DH back in school, he is no longer able to pick up the overtime we counted on. Its hard, but we have cut back on everything and will have to for the next two years. Hoping its all worth it in the end! :goodvibes

Last day in the double digits! 10 days to go  I cant wait to start reading some reports of this years MNSSHP!! That will really get me into the spirit!!

DH said it's supposed to rain every day that we are there...

I say it's better to be rained on everyday in Disney than sunny and be at home!

I just talked to my mother who is going with us to Disney in two weeks. She has had a history of a leaking heart valve, but it wasn't that bad. She went for a follow up the other day and she found out the leak has gotten quite bad and she needs to see a specialist. The doctor told her that she can still go on vacation...that nothing significant will happen in that short amount of time but that she has to have a procedure done when she gets back to see whether she has to have a replacement valve or a repair done and it should be done as soon as she gets back. I know there are a lot of rides at Disney that list that people with heart conditions should not ride certain rides. I am wondering if she should ask the doctor if there are any restrictions? He told her in the past that she could ride anything but I am wondering if things have changed now that the leak is worse. I know she is stressed about it. We just lost my step dad to brain cancer less than two years ago and she is still sensitive due to this. I want to keep her calm. I am hoping the vacation and small time away will allow her to relax a little.

Is it the Mitral Valve ? I had the repair procedure done in 2004. I feel great. Play softball, volleyball, racquetball, bowl, etc.... Get a surgeon that has done a bunch of em, not necessarily one with good bedside manners. She should check with her cardiologist. Good luck and God Bless.

Yikes! I took my car in for an oil change (to someone I trust) and they called me and said it was unsafe, it need a ball joint and a belt? well.........$350 later, I now need an alternator!!! It is try8ing to streal my Disney joy! :confused3

Oh no!!! Thats terrible timing! Better to catch it early though before anything worse comes of it!

If it says chance of scattered t-storms or isolated, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just be prepared just in case.
