September 2011 - We are going to Disney World {THIS MONTH}! (Third Thread)

Hey everyone! We just got home from dinner with the inlaws--reservation was at 5:30 and it was a party of 12 and took forever to get food. We left the restaurant at 8:30 so three hours for DD to sit in her high chair! It was really past her bedtime too. It was a great dry run for Disney as I don't think any place we go will keep us in the restaurant for 3 hours! She did great and wasn't fussy at all even though it was past her bedtime.

Also, my inlaws gave her an early birthday present today:

400001343104

I love it! She got it in the carry-on size. Not the most fun gift for a 2 year old but she will be able to use it on many trips to WDW (hopefully!).
Hey I saw this at our TJMAXX. a few months back and dumb me I passed it up. went back to get it and gone of course. I wanted carry on cause I don't want airlines damaging. It. Any idea where they found it?

This time tomorrow we will be about either on ME or checking into POR! I CAN'T wait...we are leaving here in a few minutes to head down to the airport, we are staying there tonight and heading over to the airport tomorrow at 730am....I can't wait! The weather looks like it's going to be beautiful, sun and relaxation here we come....Anyone leaving between now and when we get back have a fabulous trip!! "See Ya Real Soon!"

Have a wonderful time!!!! I cant wait to go. It is under 2 weeks for us now:woohoo:

BorkBorkBork, That is a great present. Your daughter will definitely enjoy for her many trips back to see "The Mouse":)

I just luv this thread...everyone is so upbeat and excited.
I'm single digit dancing.:cool1::banana::dance3:
:laundy:The clothes for the trip are washed and packed. I don't have very much left to do this week. It's going to be a long week.
Next Sunday will be worse since I'll only have one day left. I'll be drving DH nuts.;)
I'm undecided about doing online check in. Any thoughts on this?

I just completed it and so far so good. I was sad there's wasn't a separate comment box to request bed rails, but I was able to request a ground level room. (But not the specific section I wanted, glad I already did that on the phone.) I connected my credit card and specified approx arrival and departure times that I think we'll be getting into and leaving the hotel and verified my address and the names of all the people in our party. I got a message that said when we go to the hotel I just need to get into the Online check-in line (which should hopefully be faster) and get my KTTW cards.

So I don't really see any downsides to it since it should hopefully speed up the process of getting to our room. :thumbsup2

Thanks. I just completed it and it was great .... no problems.
Like you, I hope it speeds up getting into the room:cloud9: We arrive after midnight :scared1:and would like to get to bed.

They got it at disneystore.com. It was pricey but it's nice and I hope it'll last a long time!

We did online check-in but I had paid for a king bed so I wasn't counting on any special requests like room location. I did have the option of requesting a pack 'n' play which made me a LITTLE nervous since it's not a request, it's a requirement! If we are 3 people in a king room and one is an infant, there has to be a pack 'n' play in there, right? I hope so!

DD stayed with my inlaws last night so I got out all the suitcases again and am slowly getting closer to be done with packing. Our bag for the plane is full of books, activities, snacks, small toys and diapers. I have headphones for her to use DH's iPhone for movies and toddler apps. I'll be packing her blanket although it is pretty big and fluffy. Does anyone have any other suggestions for flying with a toddler?

Ahhh been so busy but we are on the 10 day countdown and so I thought I would pop in and see how everyone else was doing. So many have already gone and we are all so close!

I have about half of our stuff packed, we got our Mickey Mail at the beginning of the month, the cat is booked in to the boarding place and we are making arrangements for the hampster.

We made tiedye shirts for departure day and I am booking the girls and I in to have our toes done before we go! So excited!!!

Hope everyone who is on their trip is having a MAGICAL time and that those who are about to leave have a safe trip! See you at Disney!!!

seriously we need to get there already from my sister being mad at me because I made restaurant resrvations without her and then get another resrvation around the same time I"m getting an ulcer. You try to do the nice and right thing and then you get stepped on.:sad1:

Having a great time making costumes and t-shirts with the girls (remember they are 20 & 21). We took a break for dinner and are looking over our very rough itinerary and I mentioned that Sat. night none of the parks are open late, so we might want to go to Chip and Dale's. Wow! You should have seen the size of their eyes as they celebrated going to see the Chippendales. It was hilarious, because we already discussed going to the sing-a-long and movie one night. Guess I just said it in the wrong way. :confused3 However, Fox and the Hound is showing that night, so the only skin they are going to see will be hanging on the barn wall. :lmao:

Bwahahaha, that's absolutely hysterical!:rotfl2:I wish I could have been a fly on the wall for that one!

We use the Lines app from Touringplans.com (the Unofficial Guide people). It is a lot of fun to check to see what the rides are! I last checked at 10am (11am WDW time) and there were still FP's available for TSM and everything else was a 20 minute or less wait except Soarin'.

We use the same app! :thumbsup2 I too love checking in on the wait times! Seems last week was really slow, hoping it stays that way this week too! :wizard:

Well today we dropped my dog off at my mother's house, we'll miss her while we're gone :guilty: Also stopped at Barnes and Noble and downloaded a few more books to DD's NookColor and picked up a book for myself: Hunger Games, anybody here read it? The sample chapter I read was good!

We're nearly packed and we were trying to pack light but we ended up with 4 checked suitcases, 1 carry-on suitcase, 1 backpack, and 1 stroller...Oh well, we tried LOL! The kids have one more day of school tomorrow then we're off to Disney on Tuesday :yay: Can't wait!

I LOVE The Hunger Games!!!! It's seriously one of my most favorite series of all time, it's so addicting! I can't wait for the movies to come out!

I'm sure the same thing will happen to me, I don't think it's possible to pack light with a family of 6! I'm going to give it my best though since we'll have to pay $50 for each bag that needs to be checked, and I don't think we can juggle many carry-ons with having to deal with hanging onto two very rambunctious toddlers in the airport! Especially since we're coming from Canada and have a bit more security to get through! I'm so jealous, I can't wait until this week is done and I can post that I'm leaving on Tuesday! :cool1::yay::woohoo:

We haven't started to pack yet because Minnesota weather has been brutally warm these past few days, but it seems like it's about to cool down starting Wednesday so... :thumbsup2
We're hoping to fit everything in a large suitcase and only check that. We'll then use a little suitcase for carryon as well as a duffel bag and my purse. Hopefully with all of this it will work out. My purse is a large tote DB Disney, so it's not like it's "light" traveling by any means

Only five days until we leave for our trip!!!! SO EXCITED!! It was a good weekend--I packed about 80% for DS and I. (DH packs his own clothes after complaining one too many times about what I used to pack for him...so I can cross that off the list too.) I preordered the photopass cd. Ordered our stuff from Garden Grocer. Paid all of our monthly bills (something I normally do the week we are at Disney).

I still need to:
Finish that other 20% of packing (but probably not until Friday--most of the stuff I still need to pack is stuff that we frequently use)

Take my autograph book to Kinkos to be bound

Transfer audio books to my ipod for DS to listen to on the plane

Attach my Disney luggage tags! :)

Really, not much left to do at all!! I cannot wait!! I can't tell you how many times I've thought "Next week at this time I"ll be....flying to Orlando....at Chef Mickeys....riding POTC....etc."

Hope everyone who is currently at WDW is having a great time--but save some fun for me! :):):)

I just talked to my mother who is going with us to Disney in two weeks. She has had a history of a leaking heart valve, but it wasn't that bad. She went for a follow up the other day and she found out the leak has gotten quite bad and she needs to see a specialist. The doctor told her that she can still go on vacation...that nothing significant will happen in that short amount of time but that she has to have a procedure done when she gets back to see whether she has to have a replacement valve or a repair done and it should be done as soon as she gets back. I know there are a lot of rides at Disney that list that people with heart conditions should not ride certain rides. I am wondering if she should ask the doctor if there are any restrictions? He told her in the past that she could ride anything but I am wondering if things have changed now that the leak is worse. I know she is stressed about it. We just lost my step dad to brain cancer less than two years ago and she is still sensitive due to this. I want to keep her calm. I am hoping the vacation and small time away will allow her to relax a little.
DH here. I'm not a Dr and don't play one on TV, but I do work at a cardiac rehab. Usually leaky valves mean you have less energy and tire easier than you used to. I would think that the rides wouldn't be a problem as long as she isn't over tired. Of course I have cardiomyopathy with an EF of 25 and I go on everything. As always, check with your Dr for his/her take.:thumbsup2

My mom put a call into the doctor and he said that she could go on everything she wanted to go on at Disney. She might just want to take more rests when walking around the park if she gets tired. She is so excited to go and looking forward to it. I think it will be fine. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.

I finally found the Wolverine costume my son wanted for Halloween. He doesn't know he is going to wear it for MNSSHP too. We bought t-shirts for the kids just in case they get to hot in costumes, but I thought they would at least want to start out in costumes that night.

Marblees, that story is hilarious! Thanks for sharing!

Anjalee6, I'm glad your Mom is going to be able to enjoy the rides! I hope that she gets good news when you guys get home.
