September 2011 - We are going to Disney World {THIS MONTH}! (Third Thread)

Yay! I got some pixie dust today!!! I've had to switch some days around because of adding MNSSHP at the last minute, so I've been trying and trying to get a T-REX ressie again for lunch on our MNSSHP day. Sure enough, I lucked out today and scored one at the exact time I wanted! Now all my ressies are perfect!

Congrats on getting the reservation you wanted.

Janabananas, great to hear about your success without doing rope drop, especially for TSM! We will be trying for rope drop but we'll see what having a toddler does to our schedule!

My DH has 3 more nights of work and that's it! 4 days left! Our countdown chain sure looks pathetic with 3 piddley little links on it! (we take the link off after dinner so our last one is Saturday night). We realized that our camcorder's internal memory is only 3 hours of footage so we're looking into getting or borrowing a large memory card so we have more wiggle room. There's always something else you gotta do!

well we were really planning on homeschooling but I don't know if that's going to be a possibility now unless something really changes.

We don't want to send her to the public schools here though so if she's not homeschooled she be going to the private school here... so I'll need to think about tuition costs when I find a job. If I can expand my etsy store and bring in a more steady amount through there that will make the rest a lot easier... I may be able to go only part time. Actually it's not so much that we don't have enough money NOW... it's when we need to start paying for her education (whether private or homeschool) that it's going to get sticky. the private school here also offers a co op for homeschoolers where they homeschool part time and go to the private school part time.

I homeschool my daughter and I just wanted to let you know that you can easily homeschool for very little money...especially in the early elementary/preschool years! Don't rule out homeschooling because it might cost too much....there are tons of resources out there for free! And there are tons of support groups/blogs on the internet that help you learn how to homeschool inexpensively. HTH!

I'm thinking of starting a spread sheet with all the stuff we normally buy. like the staples... the stuff we get every time and then that way I can make a better list of what we need by just scanning the list and checking off the items we need at that time and then make a list from that to take to the grocery store so we get all the stuff we need and hopefully less of that "hey lets try this" stuff lol. and maybe that will help curb unnessecary trips to the store when we inevitably forget something that would have been on the list if we had one. and it might make it easier to look for coupons that way for things we need and not things we just think of buying because there is a coupon :)

If you combine the sales with coupons you might be better off planning around specials instead of worrying about your staples. Also if you ahve an Aldis near you those are great for staples. I also plan my menu to have the most bang for my buck (ex - I made stock with a whole chicken, shredded the meat and used it for the chicken and rice soup, a batch of chicken salad and froze a bag of it - the chicken itself cost under $5). With 6 of us I usually spend about 100/week on groceries.

I see many are excited about their trips coming up soon. I leave Friday morning and I still haven't packed. It will have to wait until Thursday night.

Part of my morning was messed up because the President arrived late this morning and the highway was shut down near the airport. If he had arrived on time thing would have been ok. So, after doing an illegal u-turn on the highway, crossing the median, I made it to my appointment about 10 minutes late.

I so look forward to hearing about everyone's trip.

As a person that has a former president that don't live to far from me. I feel your pain and then some. The jet planes the traffic ugh! Then everyone under the sun has to go get a sneak of his house in the summer which makes traffic worse. Good luck packing and have a great trip!!:)

 Hope you're feeling better!

sparks19  I cant wait to start reading some reports of this years MNSSHP!! That will really get me into the spirit!!
No kidding! I was looking at pictures on the DiS already today! I am excited that the Dwarves are in Frontierland cause Splash MTn is my boyfriends favorite ride...and I'm hoping since they'll be close he'll hop into line with me early!!

DH said it's supposed to rain every day that we are there...

I say it's better to be rained on everyday in Disney than sunny and be at home!

I TOTALLY AGREE! I don't mind Florida afternoon showers though cause they stop just as quickly as they may start!

Yikes! I took my car in for an oil change (to someone I trust) and they called me and said it was unsafe, it need a ball joint and a belt? well.........$350 later, I now need an alternator!!! It is try8ing to streal my Disney joy! :confused3
Ugh I hear you. my check engine light keeps coming on in my Jetta. Take it to my local shop and they keep turning it off for me telling me there isn't anything wrong with my car...that I'll probably have to take it to a dealership an hour or more away and pay $$ to get it to stop for good!

I'

silylily i also love to be on the go all the time! thats very exciting that your DD has a trip to WDW that you need to take! :rotfl: i mean.. you cant say no to the school, can you??

we're almost there ladies! the end of september is not far from here!!

Sillylily - :woohoo: for great field trips.

And :yay::yay::yay: We're all going soon!! So excited!!:banana:

I AM excited about these field trips! With us, it's a given, because we chaperone everything. The teachers some to us first, because it's widely known that we like to help. And, for the most part, I like teenagers!:rotfl2: The ones that will be rooming with me for both MB and TN are amazing girls who I've known since kindergarten, so that helps. Hoping for good luck with the WDW trip, too, but their teacher is pretty stringent on their behavior as well, so we don't normally have any problems. :thumbsup2 It makes coming back from Disney a lot less painful, since we know we're not taking a family trip next year!:yay:

I'm hit and miss with the threads lateley:confused3 . I can actually do online check in, is it worth it? Can I request a certain room or do I have to do that when we get there?
I had ordered the custom made maps and they arrived 3 days ago. Got my gift cards, MNSSHP tickets and my luggage tags all tucked safely away waiting for next Friday:banana:
Not sure if I had posted my plans on this thread ( I do have a pretrip going--brainwashed daughter, obsessed mom and burgers and fries dad) and I have posted my "plans" on that, but I'll probably get more response from this thread:rotfl:
