September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

lol i think I need to just relax about the ADRs. We aren't fine dining people at home so I don't expect to necessarily be one on vacation either :) I just didn't want to feel like I was wasting TS credits, but if we enjoy it, then I suppose it isn't wasting it.

I like what one poster did about getting gift cards and using those for their remaining days...looks like they were doing a split stay as well. It will be nice to have food paid for before we go (which is what makes the dining plan so appealing).

Looking forward to meeting people that will be at the World the same time as us :)
So true!
If I had the $$ in the budget I would love to go to the Poly, so I totally understand why it is worth trying a split stay.

9/23 Arrival day! Plane lands around 330 so possibly eat dinner at the hotel or DTD depending on how DS is acting.
9/24 Dinner at Chef Mickeys
9/25 Breakfast at Tusker house and Dinner at Cinderellas Royal Table
9/26 Dinner at Chefs d' France
9/27 MNSSHP!! Dinner at Crystal Palace
9/28 Trex Lunch , Tutto Italy Dinner
9/29 Le Cellier lunch
9/30 Hollywood and Vine Breakfast, La Hacienda Dinner
10/1 Dinner at Ohanas.. family favorite!
10/2 Breakfast at the hotel/dtd then home =(

We're thinking of MNSSHP the 27th too :)

I am starting to get Ohana envy. Everyone that has gone there seems to love it!

Just curious. Is anyone attending Night of Joy?? We've never been to WDW in September, and I am so sad to be that close to Night of Joy, yet still miss it by a few days! Unfortunately, we just can't stay any longer than one night following our cruise. I guess we'll have to come back to WDW in September another year!

Anyone else doing BBB? I am pretty sure I read that you need a credit card to book it. I do not have one, do you think I could just pay for it instead? Same with PL.

We will be doing BBB! My oldest did it last year for her 6th birthday, and it was SO fun!!! We did the DTD location, but I want to try to get MK this time. Yes it did require a credit card to book it. But they didn't actually charge it at that time. Do you have a debit card?? That would work...

Up until last year we didn't have credit cards either so I understand where you are coming from. You can get a Green Dot card from CVS or Walgreens. You just load it with money...and you can keep using it and reloading it. You could use something like that to book.

:)

Got our ADRs today...
Arrive on the 11th and doing dinner CS at Riverside Mill

09/12 - Hoop Dee Doo - category 1 9:30 p.m.

09/13 - Yak & Yeti 4:30 p.m.

09/14 - Boatwrights 7:55 p.m.

09/15 - Tony's Town Square 5:10 p.m.

09/16 - Coral Reef 4:30 p.m.

Leaving day on the 17th and doing breakfast CS at Riverside Mill

(Wed. we are eating late due to our spending the day at US)

:dance3: YAY!

I've already made a change to our ADRs! :rolleyes1

9/11 Chef Mickey's
9/12 Garden Grill
9/13 Ohana
9/14 Sci-Fi
9/15 Tusker House / T-Rex
9/16 Whispering Canyon
9/17 Via Napoli

I wasn't too sure how my husband and Jake would end up liking Boma, so I made us a Tusker House breakfast reservation and one for dinner at T-Rex. Jake is OBSESSED with dinosaurs, so I know he'll love it! :goodvibes

:rotfl: I'm wondering how many times I will change mine... :rolleyes1

:rotfl: I feel like a dairy farm. My dad has taken to calling me DQ! The only advantage is that I can't put her down long enough for other people to get at her. I don't like to share my babies!

:lmao: Nice! I felt like that, too. I really miss nursing my babies. :(

I'll be the ultra un-fit mom trying to keep up with my little boy! :) I cannot wait to see POFQ. It looks like a beautiful place. I didn't do any special room requests. I know that all the refurbs will be done by then, so I figure that any room is a good room! We're arriving on SW at 10:30, should be at POFQ by 11:30ish, so I"m hoping that if we don't have any special requests, we'll be able to get into a room right away to freshen up before we hit the parks.

The ADRS I'm hoping to get are:
Saturday, 9/17: Chef Mickey's
Sunday, 9/18: Mama Melrose Fantasmic Package
Monday, 9/19: Biergarten
Tuesday, 9/20: Ohana (dinner)
Wednesday, 9/21: Crystal Palace (dinner)
Thursday, 9/22: Cape May Seafood Buffet
Friday, 9/23: Tusker House Safari Breakfast

Probably not really similar to yours...not sure how much teenage boys like character meals! :) My little one will love it, though. :)

Good luck! I hope you get all of the reservations you are wanting.

Monday I got all of my wanted ADR's also! We are at Pop sept 10-18th and we are adding a room only night the 9th (flights are cheaper, so DH said ok :woohoo:)

We are celebrating my 25th birthday and DD 1st trip to the world she will be 18mos!

We have:
9/10 Crystal Palace 8:05am Big River Grille dinner (no adr)
9/11 Boma 9:00 am
9/12 Whispering Canyon 5:00pm
9/13 Chef Mickey's 10:10AM MNSSHP
9/14 Teppan Edo 5:30PM
9/15 Mama Melrose 6:30PM
9/16 Tusker House 8:00AM
9/17 Kona 8:30AM (OOP)

We are breakfast people and have been to each place except, Whispering Canyon, mama melrose and tusker house. I hope we like them! We wanted the character meals so we don't spend tons of time waiting in-line for characters in the heat!:worship:

:welcome: to our group! I have you added to the first post. Yay for getting all of your ADR's!

We'll be there during Night of Joy, but sadly we'll be missing it. We were originally planning on going and hiring a sitter to come in and sit with our boys, but it just won't work out now that we added a couple extra days to our vacation.

We will be doing BBB! My oldest did it last year for her 6th birthday, and it was SO fun!!! We did the DTD location, but I want to try to get MK this time. Yes it did require a credit card to book it. But they didn't actually charge it at that time. Do you have a debit card?? That would work...

:)

Yes I have a debit card, glad that will work. One day we will get credit cards again but we were just soooo stupid last time. Took us five years to get out of the debt we made, and I am not looking to climb back into debt any time soon.

I'll have to look into Green Dot cards.

I am on here waaaay too much today. My tooth hurts terribly and I am having a pity party for myself and not getting enough done... Off to go change my signature... dd turned 2 yesterday and my other young dd turns 4 tomorrow...

Yay! After seeing everyone's dining and not finding one single day where anyone else had the same dining reservation as us, I was beginning to worry I picked bad restaurants/times. We will be at WCC on the 14th as well, hoping to catch the fireworks and parade after.

Hello Sept. Lovelies,

Coming up to my ADR-makin' date. Part of our trip is CL, so I've already sent in those measly two requests. Just gotta figure out what to make for the first part of the trip, where I've gotta do it myself.

I'm not big on "lots of planned meals", but last year we had the following:
  • Breakfast at Cape May Cafe
  • Breakfast at Kona Cafe
  • Breakfast at Ohana
  • Dinner at Kona Cafe
  • Unplanned Dinner at Rose & Crown (with fireworks in the roped off area at the end, FAN-FREAKIN'-TASTIC. This was on our first night, so that rocked my socks.)

So far for this September's trip, we've got:
Tea at Garden View Tea Room
Dinner at Kona Cafe

From another thread I posted in the restaurant forum, I've got the following on my ADR short-list: Sanaa, Tokyo Dining and The Plaza. As well as a bunch of others I'm going to have written down for reference when we get hungry but not make ADRs for...

I'd like to do one character dining meal for the kiddo. I briefly entertained the idea of trying for CRT but thought better of it because, although my daughter loves the castle, she's not really into princesses and we've booked a TPV room. So, maybe back to Cape May Cafe since we're staying at the BC and we had an excellent time there last year -- the characters were outstanding and the food wasn't too bad for a buffet. As much as the kiddo loves Stitch, the food at Ohana wasn't that wonderful for us (sugar on potatoes kinda freaks me out). Anyone have any recommendations?

Can I say that I'm thinking and dreaming about it all. the. flippin'. time. ... and there's a half-a-year to go? EESH!

Since I haven't really had any response to my PTR I'm going to ask all of you what you think of my plans so far (this has been in the making for 2 years), Please give me your honest opinions and suggestions:

We're doing the same!:goodvibes Split stay with 3 nights at Pop Century with 8 day tix under the Kids Stay/play promo, then we move to the Beach Club for 4 nights with the 40% room only discount :thumbsup2 We haven't decided yet if we are going to add QS or regular dining plan onto the first part of our stay but as I mentioned we do have a Disney gift card for the second part of our stay. I do like the convenience of knowing that the meals are essentially pre-paid on the giftcard :)

I'm not worried about the move at all. I always have my daughters complete outfits packed in individual gallon size ziplock bags with their names on it and day of the week for each outfit and we stay pretty organized so I don't think the packing/unpacking will be too much trouble. On Friday September 16th we plan on checking out of Pop, taking a cab over to the Beach Club and the kids will go on the Kids pirate cruise from 9:30-11:30 am while DH and I explore the resort :cloud9: Then we'll enjoy SAB and plan on attending MNSSHP that evening :yay:

I'm so excited...my two girls love their pool time so that's why we chose BC for the very awesome looking SAB and DH is excited about the proximity to Epcot and Boardwalk! Can't wait :yay: It sounds like you have a great plan too for your transition day!

lol I was up until late last night looking at the Beach Club! We will be spending Monday-Friday going back and forth between MK and Epcot (our favourite park). I was wondering if staying at the Beach Club might make more sense...lol why do I do this to myself?

I really think I'm going to go with the gift card idea. May I ask how much you put on there? I can get an idea of what we might spend, but really won't know until we're sitting down to eat, and seeing how hungry we are :)

Your transition day sounds awesome! I read about the cruise in the BC thread last night. Our girls really love the water and swimming and the BC makes a lot of sense...it does as well because of the proximity to Epcot.

I think your choices are great! We have only done CRT for breakfast twice, never dinner but the atmosphere is great! We're thinking about trying T-rex this time too. We've been to the Rainforest Cafe here at home and enjoyed it. My 4 year old likes dinosaurs so this might be a fun choice for our DTD day. Also love H and V breakfast, so glad they added handy Manny and Oso and the little dance they do with the kids was a highlight on past visits!

You should definitely try T-Rex! Our girls LOVED it last year and they weren't really big dinosaur kids. I actually enjoyed the food as well...lol so there's a plus :)

So true!
If I had the $$ in the budget I would love to go to the Poly, so I totally understand why it is worth trying a split stay.

I am starting to get Ohana envy. Everyone that has gone there seems to love it!

I am drooling at the thought of our 'Ohana dinner :) We all really enjoyed our 'Ohana breakfast in November.

lol if it weren't for the code there would be no way that we would be able to do the Poly. Heck without the additional free kids tickets for the stay and play I doubt we'd be able to do the Poly....lol well we could..but I'm cheap by nature and I think I would have broken down with an anxiety attack :)

ohhh great reservations! I'm really looking forward to our Tusker House breakfast and Yak n Yeti is very good!
lol another drooling over the 'Ohana dinner. I think EVERYONE books that one!

Now this is our first WDW trip and we have park hoppersl

Let me know what you all think!

Looks like a great plan! We enjoyed Akershus, but it definitely wasn't our favourite. No better way to see all the princesses though.

For your MNSSHP night, just make sure you eat at Cosmic Rays early. We wasted SOOOOOOOO much time at MVMCP by eating at Cosmic Rays (right after arriving to the park). It was INSANE! I am definitely going to do an early dinner (4:30ish) and let the kids snack around MK rather then getting a meal there and wasting precious time.

DTD on your off day sounds good. There is so much to see and do there :) You can always try Wolfgang Puck Cafe for a meal there :)

For your AK/MK day you might want to try Columbia Harbor House for dinner. I've read a love a good things about it.

For your DHS day we really enjoyed 50's Prime Time and are planning it again this year. Make sure to "play" your part :) It adds to the fun of the meal!

That's what I'm figuring between 4 and 5 at Cosmic Rays and we'll make sure we take her a snack for later.
Never thought of wolfgang, will look into that.
On wednesday we are...Gasp..eating off disney property for dinner...at hooters!

Yes I have a debit card, glad that will work. One day we will get credit cards again but we were just soooo stupid last time. Took us five years to get out of the debt we made, and I am not looking to climb back into debt any time soon.

Glad I could help!! Congrats on getting out and staying out of debt!! We too made poor decisions the first time around. It feels great to be debt free now, and we only use CC's now for building our credit back up :rolleyes1

I hope your tooth feels better soon so you can enjoy some cake with your girls! princess:

BRIGHTVALLEYJRTS >> Thanks for the pictures! It's so much easier for me to "see" how something is done, rather than read it.

My DDP ADRs are due next week. I'm still trying to figure things out!

I keep debating over Mama Melrose for the Fantasmic dining package or not as well. So many reviews are not that favoriable to the restaurant or seating... Of course it would help if I could make up my mind what *day* to attend DHS!

Currently I have us down for a full day (rope drop to Fantasmic), which means eating in the park and dealing with a crowd. OR a full-day (non fantasmic day) with hopping to DHS one evening to see Fantasmic. That means completely revising my schedule!! I just don't know...

On the flip side, I just realized DHS *does* have a TS breakfast! :rotfl: I guess I had it blocked out of my mind as my kids are too old for the characters when we went last year. I can't see my husband & I going there ourselves. ;)

Us too!!! I need to fill out our CL questionnaire and send it back to IPO ASAP. I haven't had any time since Lilyana wants to nurse 20 out of 24 hours in the day, literally! Hopefully tonight when I get her swing put together it will keep her occupied for a little while and I can get to planning.

I breast-fed my youngest DS :littleangel: but only for four months, we were in the final stages of building our first house and I had to keep running there to approve this or that etc and my DS :littleangel: wanted to eat every 2 hours or sooner, it was exhausting to say the least.

Great ADRs, maybe we'll see you at Whispering Canyon!!

I wasn't going to do it, until you all started talking about it, which prompted me to read up on how awesome it sounds! ;)

We ate there 3 trips ago. We're going back because I think my girls will enjoy the atmosphere and it will be a nice air conditioned lunch. We've tried eating there on every trip since then as just a walk up but the line is always huge. Nothing sticks out in my mind about the food being fantastic, but I did enjoy it. I was looking at the menu and it seems too pricey, but I figure my girls and I can split a meal and I can pick up something little at any of the other WS CS if I'm still hungry. Sorry I can't provide any more specific feedback!

I vaguely glanced at the menu, need to go back and look at it better, we are on the DxDP this trip so I keep thinking this is a good trip to try it.

Ohana is another I am on the fence about DH wants to try it but I just do not know where to fit it in
Also having read about the long check-in and wait times, has me worried since I did think perhaps going there before MNSSHP ?

Ooohhh.. gotcha. That IS a hard decision. Especially not knowing if FD is going to be re-released.

Shiela - we are doing a gift card for our dining too. So far it only has $70 on it but it is better than nothing. Going back to the disney store on the 29th to pick up Tangled so I will throw some more money on it then.

This is more of a question for off site diners, but this has become my go to place on the dis so I figured I would check here first...
I am thinking of getting pizza delivered when we are off site. I heard Giordanos was good AND they have restaurant.com vouchers. Can I use a restaurant.com voucher for delivery or are they more of a dine in type of thing? I have one for HOB when we go to DTD. I never used them before and am a newbie to them.

Sunday's our day, too. I haven't done this for a while so need some help, please, remembering the rules. I can call at 6:30am east coast time? What about booking online -- same time? Thanks!

I think I must have confused you, nothing new for me I talk the way I think and it sometimes loses something in the translation to print

We are doing the DP but I am taking back $20 in cash and putting it aside in an envelope for the trip for tipping and other misc expenses for the trip, this way I won't be having to pull out a large some of traveling cash from the bank days before we leave...I figure it will be less painless this way
The gift cards is a good idea if we did not do the DP this trip that is what I had planned on doing after reading about another DIS doing that and how well it worked for her family

Another tip on Cosmic rays, try during the frist parade?, diffently wait untill MNSSHP starts. People who do not have tickets try to stick arounnd by eatting. My personal fav to Is pecos Bill of the QS. If you can get Into Chef Mickeys earl, the better after 9am it can get pretty loud. For your MK evenning maybe ytu O'hanns?. Looks great we will be going as you are comming In:cool1: hope we take all the humid with us:goodvibes
