September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Two weeks from today we'll have been on the road for (I hope) several hours.

Its been such a crazy week for us that I (almost) forgot about Disney. My DS got a concussion playing soccer on Sunday. The CT scan at the hospital showed something weird. They couldn't do an MRI before they did a stomach x-ray to look for a dime that he may have swallowed :sad2:. It got real scary for a while, but the MRI was negative. I held up great during the crisis, but had some kind of weird panic attack the next day. I couldn't stop seeing him hurt himself and just kind of fell apart. (But I'm much better now :goodvibes).

Then, the earthquake yesterday. Wow. I'm so glad I don't live in California :goodvibes. I think its the suddenness of it that would get to me. No warning at all. I was actually excited to be part of it - I had always wondered what it would feel like.

So, this morning I realized that two weeks is really close and its time to start packing. Yay! So, I'm washing clothes, cleaning my bedroom (so I have room for suitcases), and generally getting excited again!!

I'm so excited for you!!! I cannot wait to hear all about your trip when you get back!

I love it!!! Great job!

I am not as proud of this one as I was yesterdays (maybe cause I'm not a big Stitch fan, but I do think it is good....

Today's Countdown!

Are you kidding? It's awesome!:thumbsup2 And I would definitely change my ticker...you have to see the numbers getting smaller!! You must!:goodvibes

Thank you both!!! Sometimes, I am my own worse critic....

Well 3 days left.

This thread moves so fast. Especially beacuse I have been so busy. For whatever reason I feel my house needs to be super clean before we go. I'm doing my laundry today so I should be packed by tonight. I'm going to wash the kitchen floor today and I cleaned one of the 2 bathrooms this am. Did a deep scrub in the kitchen this am. Looks liek the hurricane won't be much of a problem.

I also need to look into a stay, park and fly hotel for the night. Dh is insisting that he dont' want to leave the house at 230 am. I sort of don't blame him. So right now it looks like they are all comparable at 150.00 a night that is for the marriott.

I am just like you! I have to have the house super clean before I go on vacation...not sure why but I always do! :) Have a wonderful, wonderful time!! We still have a month to go!

DH and I are talking with his family about going next year for Christmas, well December 8-15! I really hope it all works out! Who else is already starting to plan their next trip?

We are!!

We usually go around the same time you mentioned in December. It's great! However, we are keeping our eye on the Art of Animation resort. If the Little Mermaid rooms will be open by December 2012, we are planning on aligning our vacation to get those rooms. However, if the Mermaid opening is delayed for some reason (or if we just change our minds!), then we may hop over to November 2012 for the first time to try the Food & Wine festival.

You should come over and join us on the December 2012 thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2730984!

I don't want to get too excited for it yet, because its still a long shot. I will join that thread when I know for sure if we're going. If we don't go next year, we are FOR SURE going Nov or Dec 2013.

I am super lucky that we have Seasonal AP and live so close, so we can go whenever we want, but we already some trips planned ahead after our Sept trip. They are not long vacations but little getaways.

We are going back in Nov for F&W and the end of January for our anniversary weekend, hoping for a good price on a deluxe (either AKL or WL). I already have ADR's for Rose & Crown, Artist Point, and Le Cellier. But I may cancel LC?? And also another birthday trip Sept 5-8 (4 days/3 nights again).

I am ready to put my AP to work for me!! :rotfl:

No problem, just know that alot of people on the thread aren't sure if they are actually going in December 2012, so please don't let that stop you! At the least, I would subscribe and read along. That way, you'll be really prepared for a holiday vacation in 2012 or 2013!

Oh yes me too! It makes it just a tiny bit easier knowing I'm going home to a clean house!

I'm definitely jealous of a lot of you!.....
So many cute :cutie: pictures of little ones seeing the castle and meeting the characters. My DsD is 17 and our first trip to the castle was 2 years ago when she was 14 and it just didn't have the same affect. SO, cherish those moments and pictures :flower3:

Also, NO Mickey Mail for me! :sad2: We rented points this time and ordered our tickets from Undercover Tourist (although it was fun a couple months ago when that arrived!).

SO, although I'm hugely excited for ALL of you, I am so green with envy!! :thumbsup2

P.S. I also have to clean my house before I/we leave. So much nicer knowing "dirt" isn't waiting for you!

Then, the earthquake yesterday. Wow.

Pixie dust for you :wizard: Life sure does throw us curve balls sometimes - just dodge them and head for WDW!

On a happy note, allow me to celebrate with all you countdowners...3 WEEKS!!!! DD1 and I will be arriving at MCO in exactly 3 weeks!!!!:banana::banana:

(Pay no attention to my ticker, that is for DD2 who arrives on the 16th)

looks like I may have to get a new ticker... mine has been stuck on 18 days till we leave and 20 days till we arrive for 2 days now.... Just hate to have to start it over.... but it will move across much faster!!!

No really, I would be bummed!!. I love watching tinkerbell's progress. But you are right it will move right along. And I love your pic but I am partial to Stitch myself, he reminds me of my 9 yo.

I was reading about the cleaning the house before vaca posts a week or two ago and thought that might be a good idea, and took it a step further and was going to do a tag sale this weekend. Irene begs to differ so we are going to have one next weekend. I just have so much stuff!! And a little extra money for Mickey wouldn't hurt ;)

I know if we got any snow around my neck of woods (east central FL, between Port Canaveral and Vero resort) we wouldn't know what to do with ourselves, but we got the hurricane preparedness down.

Its the complete opposite up here in NB, Canada (just above Maine) - Snow we have down to a science - 2-3 feet - eh, no problem! SNOW DAY!! :cool1:...

Hurricanes or earthquakes - now that's a different story - our capital city felt the one yesterday and was evacuating buildings downtown :scared1: - they were a swayin'... and we live right on the coast so if it came up our way, people would start heading for the hills... lol.. :lmao:

I honestly think I'm going crazy now. Any tips on getting through these next 14 days?! The boys must be going crazy too because they have been quite the stinkers. :scared1:

Have you...

- made a list of rides you wanna hit
- put them on a map :)
- thought about the ones you don't wanna ride and why?
- watched videos on youtube of the rides you do and don't wanna ride
- packed, packed, and repacked
- packed outfits ds's in large ziplock bags (easy dressing each day)
- made / bought decorations for your door & window of room
- make a decoration with your dis name on it
- make a disney coloring book for your boys to use
- made list of who you are buying gifts for
- made a list of snacks you absolutely can't miss
- watch a disney movie each day
- window shop on the disney store website

hope that keeps you going for a couple days :lmao: its how I keep a little sane :rotfl2:

Definitely something generating major excitement in the air...my DD(21) just came in and asked if we could stop by Columbia Harbour House and pick up some fish and chips to eat while we stand in line for Peter Pan this afternoon. I wanted to say yes in the worse way. Arghhhhhh....time to move to Kissimmee and get APs.

I go on the same day you do :goodvibes. I usually have to find a little mini-project or else I don't get anything done but DIS board posts :rotfl:. I'm not someone who cleans all the time, but I started working on my bedroom today. At least it will be clean when we get home. I'm also thinking about all the Fall craziness that will hit us when we get home and trying to plan for it ahead of time. Last year we got slammed with activities and making up things we had missed.

I'm also going through pins, setting aside clothes I want to pack, writing WalMart lists, etc. And doing lots of dreaming :).

Me too! I'm always dreaming of the tuna sandwich at CHH. And wishing I could just stop by once in a while just to get a snack I like. Or people watch. Or watch a show. Sigh.
