September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Is anyone doing Hollywood and Vine? I know it don't get great reviews but I was thinking of doing it for lunch for the characters instead of mama melorse. We already have Via Napolil for one of our Epcot meals. My only thing I'm not a huge buffett person but for the girls I would do it. LOL

We are doing lunch. We did breakfast last time and really enjoyed it. Maybe we are just easy to please haha :rotfl2:

Ok so we modified our reservation! and I'm really excited about it. The difference saved was $633.00 going from AKL CL AP rate room only to Preferred King Room at CSR package AP rate. We added the dining plan (which I still think is alot of food) and we were able to buy universal studios passes. At the end of the day we still saved $396.00 and we are going to use that for drinks are souvenirs. (tolls and gas)
We've never done Universal. I cant wait! 25 days to go :wizard:

That is great savings!! We are staying at CSR for the first time this trip. You will have to tell me how you like it. We have 35 days left!!

I havent done H&V in a long time, like 4 years-but I remember it being really bad food. We booked the character lunch for my kids when Little einsteins were there and the character interaction was amazing, but the food was gross. I swore I'd never eat there again...just me though....

We stayed a CSR last year for a quick mothers day weekend. We didnt spend much time at the resort since the kids were all about the parks. This trip i just me and hubby so I'm really hoping to just relax and chill poolside.

I can't believe we are all SO close! I told dh this morning he has 3 more Fridays to get through then a half day till Disney! :)

We both really need this vacation! Then again I think EVERYONE on this thread needs a vacation about now. Very much looking forward to sitting by the pool drink in hand relaxing!

WOOHOO that means mine should be coming any day now! So exciting! I gotta do the mousekeeping envelopes too. I'm glad you were able to work something out with your professor so nothing stands in your way!

Thanks BorkBorkBork! I am committed to this vacation and enjoying myself!

We are doing CP buffett for breakfest and Tuskers for breakfest also. These are the other 2 buffetts we have.

We went 4 years ago (our first meal of our first trip) and was not really impressed. The layout of H& V is bad in my opinion, it seemed like a congested cafeteria. The food was ok but like others said not great. I liked Mama Melrose better.

We went there for dinner and :crazy2: Didn't like the lay out the food or the servers. Thumbs down across the board. But I never went to see characters there so that is a whole other ball game if that is where your kids really want to see a disney jr. character. My kids don't like any of those characters so it isn't an issue for us.

RFrank - we really enjoyed Universal when we went in 06 and are looking forward to trying it again! So much fun!

Thanks everyone I'm not a huge buffett person at all. I can never relax someone always needs something. So I'm sticking with mama melrose. WE are already doing 5 character meals in 10 days so that is good. Plus 3 of them are buffetts. The other 2 are family style. I'm sort of limited to making adr's in the parks. Dh and I aren't big fans of going to other resorts to eat just takes to much time.
We have
Tuskers
CP x2 once for lunch and one breakfest
Arkshurs
Garden Grill

I think they are all good choices. :goodvibes

If you have to give up one of the two, I think your reasons for giving up Cape May Cafe are very grounded. If df is really looking for sea food, there is always one of those all you can eat lobster buffets in Orlando or Red Lobster is right at Cross Roads and Bahama Breeze is just down the road from there near the outlet.

If you take a trip to POFQ from DTD, if it's a Wed thru Saturday, you might want to stop at POR and catch Yeehaw Bob's show. It's alot of fun. And the River Roost is one of the lounges where you can get 20% off with your TIW card!

Sorry to hear about df's lay off. That makes things tougher, but is coming more and more common in this economy. I'm glad you will both still be able to vacation!

Thankfully I live about 5 minutes from the beach & river over on the east coast of Florida, just south of Port Canaveral/Cocoa Beach. There are many seafood places over here, so DBF can get his seafood fix anyday.:rotfl:

Yet, another reason to X out Cape May and keep BOMA. Sorry for my constant babbling and rants.... You all understand my frustration like no one else does. :grouphug:

Ticker check time - 6 weeks til vacay starts - adults are having a big secret meeting tonight to siacuas as kids don't have a clue they r going :cool1:

I had to remind myself today that the kids don't know about our trip when I almost asked them if they wanted to go and get tie dye kits to make shirts for Disney. Them I stopped myself just in time. Keeping the secret is killing me. I am so used to having the kids involved in planning. It's so weird.

Anyone have any great ideas of ways to pack suitcases without the kids knowing we are going on a trip? Would love to hear some suggestions. I have no clue how to do this. :confused3

On another note, we found some really cute shirts at Target today. Got my DD an Ariel shirt and a Tinkerbell shirt. She wanted one of everything, but I had to draw the line somewhere.

We also got my DS a very cool Perry shirt. Love it!

Ok so I just need to vent. Robin(disneydiva), Norma(2pirates1princess) and I and our DH's---have kept this Disney trip a secret for MONTHS---8 MONTHS!!!!!! Well Robin's friend is going for a few of our days and happens to be Robin's friend and her DD is Robin's DD's BFF....WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Her friends DD told Robin's DD that she was going to Disney with her. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT was Robin's friend thinking!! OMG we have gone so long and she could have just ruined our surprise. Robin thinks MAYBE she made her DD Gabi believe we weren't going but it still has planted a seed in Gabi's head. Arrggghhhh some people just can't be quiet!! Sorry for ranting....I am just MAD!! Us 3 have done so much planning and gifts and surprises and planning my flight to meet them all in D.C. I hope Robin's friend didn't ruin this and I won't be happy!!!

With my kids I might tell them I am organizing clothes and finding stuff to give away to charity or to put away because they don't need it. Depending on the time year and where you live, you might be able to pull the "I am putting away the summer clothes for now". But if it is still Holy Cow Crazy HOT like it is in FL, that wouldn't work.

Honestly though my boys could care less about what clothes are going where. :rotfl

And to my favorite group of fellow Sept travelers, I wanted to tell you what I found at Publix today. I am not sure how many of you have a Publix in your area.

Publix Supermarkets is offering $10 off a $50 gas company gift card. That's a 20% saving! There is a minimum $25 grocery purchase, but that's easy to do at Publix. You'll need a coupon, which can be found in the flyer found at the store entrance. It ends Aug 17th.

They had cards from several of the major gas companies, Hess, BP, Chevron/Texaco.

I hope this helps.

Now Now Michelle. It will be fine. Angela didn't mean to ruin anything for anyone. She is 11 and just excited to be going to Florida with Gabi. And even though she may have planted a seed in Gabi's head, Gabi knows not to say anything to anyone else. I do believe I have defused the situation and made Gabi think that this planning has been for next year. Regardless, I am not mad. Who can blame Angela for being so excited to go to Disney:yay:. Gabi has not brought it back up, so I do think we are good:)!! Now BREATHE:hug:

Woohooo! I just got some mickey mail! Our Magical Express Tags came in via UPS today! We're in Canada, and our arrival date is Sept.21, I definitely wasn't expecting them this quick. It's funny how more "real" it feels now!!

Just had to share my September traveler encounter today:

Today while I was shopping at Target I saw the Girl's t-shirts were on sale ($7 down from $8.99...but a sale is a sale! :rolleyes1) and they had some fun Disney ones. So I am looking and talking to my youngest who is in the cart "Hmmm....does your sister need this Disney shirt?"....

Well this other mom was shopping and came over to check them out as well. I wound up saying "We probably don't need this shirt, but what's one more? :rotfl: She said "Oh I know...we are going to Disney in September, so it would be nice to have another shirt!"

I had to refrain from jumping up and down! Ha! We bonded for a bit over plans, etc. I was too scared to ask her if she DIS's or not...

I could have stood there and talked Disney with her all afternoon!
