September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Look at my ticker! :cool1: I can't believe it's almost here! :cloud9:

I have been making some changes to my adr's and wanted to see what you guys think!

I'm having second thoughts about Le Cellier for our anniversary dinner. I really want to go there, but from everything I've read its not very romantic.

DH and I love Le Cellier, but you're right it isn't the most romantic. I agree with the Artist Point idea or maybe even the California Grill if possible. If you stick with Le Cellier, it will be romantic b/c you will both make it that way. Whatever you decide, I hope you have a wonderful celebration and a great trip!:good vibes

This one's non Disney. DD (8 years old remember?) was talking about naming her teddy bear "Theodore" because someone was telling her about Theodore Roosevelt and the origins of the teddy bear. I asked her to tell me about Roosevelt and she mentioned he was born in New York (completely left out that he was president) and said she thought he belonged to a motorcycle gang called the Rough Riders.:lmao:

Her grandparents are bikers and both of them died laughing when I called to tell them.

This cracked me up!:lmao::lmao: How cute!

janabananas;42202373 So re-rethinking ADRs again and my mind is spinning. To keep or cancel said:
Just a thought on Boma and Cape May: It's true they do afford you a lot of choices, so you aren't stuck with something you don't like, as you say. If the budget allows for it, I would keep them both. I don't eat a lot at any one sitting, but I really enjoy Boma and plan to enjoying Cape May when we go this trip. It's so hard to make these decisions, but I really I think anywhere you end up will be great. Have a wonderful trip!

Yippppeeeeeee!!!!!

We got our "Mickey Mail" today!!!

and 4 weeks from tommorrow night we load up the car for our favorite roadtrip!

Yay for Mickey Mail!! :cheer2: We got some today too.. our luggage tags. Didn't think we would get them, but I'm sure glad we did. We're at 28 days today.:dance3:

That one thing that I am going to miss since this trip s a surprise. I love making a countdown calendar, but oh well, the surprise will be worth it.

Surprise trips are the best! We surprised our girls in 2009...what great memories :cloud9: I still can't beleive we pulled it off, especially since we had to rely on the school/teachers to keep it a secret also. DDs had no clue...even after they opened a huge box with a gigantic minnie balloon that floated out with a sign that said: "Suprise, We're going to Disney World Right Now!" they were completely confused  Once we showed them their packed bags/luggage is when it hit them that we really were leaving in an hour, then came the excited screams and jumping up and down lol!

How fun for you!

There's always next time for the countdown calendar ;)

I decided to keep BOMA and cancel Cape May. I really want to try BOMA and I figure we can eat seafood and bbq anytime. There is lots of bbq and seafood joints in my area (some owned by friends of ours) and we do not have any African inspired places around my neck of the woods.

I am replacing Cape May with an "unplanned" trip to DTD/POFQ. I really wanted one night to wander as we want. We are only staying 3 nights.

So night 1: BOMA then Wishes, night 2: Tokyo Dining, EMH & Illuminations, night 3: no idea......??? I have heard lots about Earl of Sandwich so maybe??, we also may grab dinner & beignets at POFQ and take the boat to DTD.

Sadly, my ex got laid off, (I found this out after my previous rant last week...), so a bit of my Disney budget went to getting his share of kid school stuff. So budget has become an issue. Not horribly so and I am gonna work some overtime each week til I leave, but I figure if I am not 100% about an ADR, I can always cancel and try again another time. DBF and I have Seasonal AP, so we will be back.

I also wanted to say, that while my creativity has been stimulated, my ability to execute has not. So I doubt I will be making any of my ideas. :sad2: But if I do, you will definitely see them so you can laugh at my amateurish attempts. :lmao:

So, I'm booked at Pop Century with free dining for ten nights in September and we started toying with the idea of getting another room so the kids can have their own beds and we can share another bathroom. Pop seems to be at capacity while we are there, so that is not going to work. I started checking on upgrading to a resort with bigger rooms, but all I see available are the cabins at an additional cost of over $2500. However, I now see listings on ebay for Wyndham Bonnet Creek 2 bedroom units for about $100/night and am considering getting at least 5 nights there just to get some extra space. I would just keep our reservation at Pop for the free dining.

Finally went to the dollar store to pick up the red and black poster board, and stopped at Home Depot to pick up some extra Mickey head paint samples (seem to have misplaced my stash :upsidedow) so hoping to get our countdown calendar ready for our 30 day mark on Sunday :cool1:

We left our countdown calender up from our June trip and are going to take the days off till its time. Now we just have to wait 13 long days until we can start.:yay:

Oh wow! Can I sleep in your empty room? No really, I have heard of people doing this. As long as you are paying your bill, Disney doesn't seem to mind. Less work for mousekeeping! :rotfl2: You just can't hold two Disney property ressies in the same name for the same dates. You can have your FD and eat it too, (or something like that.)

Woohoo on a whim last night hubby and i booked dinner at california grill at 9:30. Woot. We are going to get dressed up and have a little date night. We are staying at BLT so its also really convenient :). This will be my first time eating there

Wouldn't it be cheaper to pay for food than to pay for Pop for ten nights?

I totally agree! The summer camp I work for finishes up our last session next week. As much as I love camp and our campers,,,I can't wait for it to be over with for the season!

We will be there the exact same time and....

We got our magical express mail today as well:banana:!!

Got my mousekeeping envelopes done. School starts up again Aug 30th, so I emailed my professor two days ago to let him know I'd be out of town without internet access (sorta a white lie because I may have a smart phone by then...but I'm still not doing school work on my vacation!!) for 1 week of the 8 week class. He didn't sound very enthused, saying its not ideal and I'll have to work ahead and make some stuff up...which I told him I was ready and willing to do--so I hope it won't be a big deal! I'll make it work for vacation's sake!

WOOHOO that means mine should be coming any day now! So exciting! I gotta do the mousekeeping envelopes too. I'm glad you were able to work something out with your professor so nothing stands in your way!

We would basically break even on food only. Even if we were able to get an extra room at Pop, we would pay a minimum of $85 per night. The 6 nights at Bonnet Creek would also be $85/night, but we would get free Internet access and a full kitchen and laundry area that we could not get at any value or moderate. We would stay our first four nights at Pop, then move to Bonnet Creek. We are still looking at the pros and cons, but having two bedrooms and a kitchen for the last 6 nights is pretty tempting.

I love your countdown calendar! I've never made one before. I count down on my calendar and now on my iPad, but I love the idea of removing something each day! Think I'll try it next trip....or I'm at 27 days, I could make a quick trip to Home Depot...;)

So glad you snagged a ressie for CG! Enjoy your romantic evening!:goodvibes

Can you all believe that we're going to be at Disney NEXT MONTH?!?! :wizard: I still can't believe it!!! :goodvibes

If you have to give up one of the two, I think your reasons for giving up Cape May Cafe are very grounded. If df is really looking for sea food, there is always one of those all you can eat lobster buffets in Orlando or Red Lobster is right at Cross Roads and Bahama Breeze is just down the road from there near the outlet.

If you take a trip to POFQ from DTD, if it's a Wed thru Saturday, you might want to stop at POR and catch Yeehaw Bob's show. It's alot of fun. And the River Roost is one of the lounges where you can get 20% off with your TIW card!

Sorry to hear about df's lay off. That makes things tougher, but is coming more and more common in this economy. I'm glad you will both still be able to vacation!

Ok so we modified our reservation! and I'm really excited about it. The difference saved was $633.00 going from AKL CL AP rate room only to Preferred King Room at CSR package AP rate. We added the dining plan (which I still think is alot of food) and we were able to buy universal studios passes. At the end of the day we still saved $396.00 and we are going to use that for drinks are souvenirs. (tolls and gas)
We've never done Universal. I cant wait! 25 days to go :wizard:

I hope you enjoy CSR as much as we do! The preferred buildings are the Casitas (1, 2, and 3) and they are so pretty at night. Plus building 4 of the Casitas has a spa and fitness center. If you would like a microwave, you can ask if one is available during your stay when you check in. We loved having the microwave, though with a dining plan one might not come in handy for you.

Is anyone doing Hollywood and Vine? I know it don't get great reviews but I was thinking of doing it for lunch for the characters instead of mama melorse. We already have Via Napolil for one of our Epcot meals. My only thing I'm not a huge buffett person but for the girls I would do it. LOL

We are doing CP buffett for breakfest and Tuskers for breakfest also. These are the other 2 buffetts we have.

That is awesome we were thinking of doing AKL next year. But we can do POR in a Royal room for 10 nights and Universal RPR for 2 nights for quite a bit cheaper than AKL standard room.

We are not doing it this time, but we have in the past for both breakfast and lunch. Lunch is okay...nothing to write home about. It's mainly salads, lunch meat, etc. If you are comparing mama Melrose and H & V then Mama's is much better, but if you just want something to eat and don't care which is better than H & V is okay. The other character meals you have listed are much better.
