September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

You can leave it at home and just get one in the parks. You just need the code off the one they sent you for check out reason to get the photpass book free. You can upload as many photopass cards to the accout. I think we did 2 diffrent ones last year.

I'm afraid I would loose it. I paid for it I want the book.

Ok I just took my packet out and the same number that is printed on the back of PPC is printed on the page anyway. So as long as you don't loose both you should be ok.

Sweet, thanks! I'm an obsessive planner, so I have a large binder jammed full of ressies and touring plans, anything extra I'll break the binding!:lmao:

Just finished catching up since Ive been MIA for the past two weeks. Im so excited to hear that people have started to get Mickey Mail!:banana:

We just got back from a mini trip to Hershey Park. DS loved all the candy bar characters and ran up to them with big hugs and kisses... which made me even more excited to take him to see his favorite guys! He is going to LOVE it! I feel like once August is here I can offically start buying all the toiletries and stuff. I also realized that I an unable to say no to DS when he wants something, and have decided I need to put away a little more spending money. :rotfl: Plus mommy needs a few things herself..

Just think once august arrives we are all able to say we are leaving 'next month'!!!! :yay::yay::yay: So excited!

"next month" does have a better sound to it.:goodvibes
This is my favorite thread on the dis board. I can feel the excitement jumping off the computer screen.:yay:party:
I've already started the packing.:cloud9: I don't know what else to do with myself.:confused3 I still have the t-shirts to do, but waiting for a rainy weekend. It'll cheer me up.

I didn't think about the luggage tags. I don't think we get them since we're renting DVC points. Now I'm sad :(

If you are riding on Magical Express from the airport to WDW, then you will some how need to get tags for your luggage. Right? I mean, there would be no other way for them to know that they need to pick up your luggage, or even you for that matter.

Yes they just get the big Yellow ones that we all get to strap to our luggage. Nothing cute about those.

These are the ones that come with the packages that they send out with your vouchers. You can put you name, address and phone number in them. They are really nothing special but they are cute this year.

We live about an hour from Hershey! I love it there too. We go every year for Christmas CandyLane! DS4 loves it

Cancelled my DxDP and downgraded to the DDP. :( I'm sad about it and dh and I are major foodies and were soooo looking forward to all the yummy looking food at the World but I'm really worried that we won't be able to enjoy dining with our four kids. They're 3, 4, 7 & 9, but the 3 yr old (who will just barely be 3 by the time we go) is seriously one of the most crazy hyper kids I've ever encountered in my life! (And I've worked at a daycare and run a dayhome for many years). He has a really hard time sitting still, so we thought it would probably be best to cancel and put less stress on everyone! So now I'm trying to figure out which ressies to keep and which to cancel. I'm leaning towards making things simple as possible for ourselves and trying to dine at places in or very close to the parks or our resort. The more I think about it, the more I think it will be stressful and annoying to be taking buses to and from other resorts just for a meal. It might be something to save and look forward to when the kids are older and can manage to sit at a restaurant for 2 hours without me feeling like I want to hide under the table.

Here's what I had, my thoughts are in red on what to save/cancel:

21 - Arrival day
No ressies as I'm not sure when we'll be getting in, probably not til 7ish so we might just take boat across to DTD and get some EOS!
22- AK
8:10 am - Tusker House keep, love breakfast anyways and handy to get in early and be close to kilamanjaro
5:05 pm - Boma Might cancel as bit of a pain to have to travel to get there

23 - BB or TL Not sure which one to go to?
6:25 pm - Turf Club (we're staying at SSR) keep

24 - MK
8:05 am - Crystal Palace Keep, it will be magical to be in park early
5:35 pm - CRT MUST keep, I have a 7 yr old who thinks she's a princess!

1:00 pm - Teppan Edo Cancel
6:25 pm - Biergarten Keep! (I'm German)

26 - DTD/resort day
11:30 am - TREX Keep
5:00 pm - Hoop De Doo Cancel. Pain to travel and I don't know how well my youngest will take it since there's so much noise and stimulation for a long period of time.

27 - MK
8:05 am - Crystal Palace Cancel since we'll have already been.
5:00 pm - Ohana Keep. Come on. It's Ohana!

28 - DHS
8:05 am - Hollywood and Vine Cancel? I heard this isn't very good compared to other character breakfasts. Thoughts?
1:40 pm - 50's Primetime Keep, I think. Food looks yummy!

29 - EP
11:30 am - Via Napoli Keep. LOVE pizza and Le Cellier will be worth 2 so it's prob the smarter thing to do.
4:40 pm - Le Cellier Cancel. :( Was looking forward to try the soup and the famous filet and risotto.

30 - MK
7:45 am - Chef Mickey's Cancel. Heard character interaction is rushed anyways.
12:50 pm - The Plaza Keep. If we have a credit for it, great. If not, we'll pay OOP since it's one of the cheaper TS anyways.
5:40 pm - Narcoossees Cancel. Pain to travel and a bit nervous about taking tired unruly kids to a signature.

So? What do you think? Agree? (This will be our first trip so I welcome the advice!)

It's getting closer and I'm starting to feel that panicky feeling once in awhile because I haven't done up our packing list, still need to get youngest one some new sandals, plus pick up extras like toys for in long lines, mist fans, adult ponchos, etc. Plus I have to get school shopping done soon before stores go crazy next month!

OK I wanted to make tanks for the girls for Nalloween---how did u stencil that on. thanks for the info

I'd love a PM too BorkBorkBork! Such cute shirts and dresses!

BorkBorkBork - Amazing work...wish I was that talented with the sewing machine and I love your tank for MNSSHP!!

We are almost at the 45 day mark!!!!! 48 to go! Looking forward to Mickey Mail!

Baby K has a 15 month check up today, hoping he does ok with the shots...he had a Febrel (sp) Seizure after the last set. Can't wait to see how much he as grown. DS4 is doing great with his swimming lessons and we can't wait for the water parks this year since he will LOVE the slides....may even get him snorkeling at Shark Reef....

Mom2Cody, just want to let you know that one of the requirements of swimming the shark reef is that you can swim without stopping through. Alot of people try to stop to look longer at the fish and rays but they have lifeguards there watching making sure people keep moving along! The water is also really cold compared to the pool water!

Haven't gotten our mickey mail yet, would someone post pictures of the new luggage tags for those of us who can't wait!?!

I think your ideas for what to keep and what to get rid of sound good & practical. I'm sorry you have to downgrade but your sanity is worth a lot too! Also, your comment about the Plaza being one of the cheapest TS made me evaluate and I've decided we'll do that OOP and free up a TS credit for 50s Primetime, which solves my dilemma of what to eat at HS. So thank you for that!

I'm sure you guys will have a great trip and getting rid of those TS meals just frees up more time for touring & relaxing!

I'd love a PM too BorkBorkBork! Such cute shirts and dresses! Haven't gotten our mickey mail yet, would someone post pictures of the new luggage tags for those of us who can't wait!?!

Sure, fellow Wisconsinite! ;)

I would love to see the new luggage tags too. Our ones from 2009 are still on our suitcases and make me smile every time I use them for much more mundane travel.

We will be staying at POP August 30th - September 5th. I'll see if our home depot has alien green and maybe I will run into some of you. I've seen about 5 others staying at POP the same week on various threads. I'll be the one with the melting husband (he uses the ac here on the fog ridden coast of CA when it gets above 75*). He has been in May before so hopefully he can hang this time too.

Things are crazy around here but just wanted to comment BorkBorkBork: very cute outifts! :thumbsup2

You did an awesome job!

Welcome to all the newcomers to the thread! :cool1:

These are the ones that come with the packages that they send out with your vouchers. You can put you name, address and phone number in them. They are really nothing special but they are cute this year.

If patience is a virtue, I'm feeling mighty unvirtuous right now. Can't wait for my Mickey mail with those cute new luggage tags. I never put our address in, though, just last name and cell phone number. Two reasons. One, I don't want to risk any "temporarily misplaced" luggage being sent home if I'm heading to WDW. Two, I don't need to advertise the address of the home that I'm leaving unattended for a week or two.

BorkBorkBork, We love 50s PT! It's a double hoot & really tasty. Last time, we paid OOP at lunch bcz we didn't need dessert, nor a bigger-than-your-head-and-super-yummy milkshake as our included beverage. Plus, the portions are so generous that two of us lighter eaters easily shared a meal. OK, OK, we shared a milkshake, too. ;) We used those "extra" TS credits for signature dining at Jiko, which was fabulous. Even the skeptical tweens were completely won over.

Oh, and a tip from the Moms Panel last year: Apparently, you can order Le Cellier's amazing cheddar soup & pretzel bread to go!

Oooh, how do you order the soup and pretzel bread to go, just call the restaurant in advance or walk up and order it? I want that! :yay:

60 days today, oh man I'm getting worked up! I want Mickey Mail, too, but I figure I've got a little more wait ahead of me. :lmao:

I have alot of catching up to do, wanted to quick respond to hwyprincess.

I live in central Florida and it has been hot here, but actually cooler and less humid than at friend's houses who live in PA and NC. It's been averaging about 94 degrees. There has been a thunderstorm almost every evening around dinner time that has rolled in and cooled things off a bit. On the days that the thunderstorms don't roll in, it's kept things warmer and we'd wake up to 80's and it would go up to a few degrees warmer, like to 96ish.

Yesterday I was sitting in the sun at my son's swim lessons and at 10am it was 85 degrees. There was a nice breeze and I didn't sweat at all.

However, last Thursday we went to the MK. It was 96 degrees, 12 noon, no breeze, and as soon as I stepped out of the car at the TTC, I started sweating. We cooled off with lunch at Cosmic Rays. Then a few hours later at the Main St. Bakery, sitting in the airconditioning with an icecream cookie sandwich!!

Just finished catching up since Ive been MIA for the past two weeks. Im so excited to hear that people have started to get Mickey Mail!:banana:

Just think once august arrives we are all able to say we are leaving 'next month'!!!! :yay::yay::yay: So excited!

We went to Hershey Park as part of our summer travels too. But I ended up at the Hershey Medical Center with my Dad who took ill while at the park. The rest of the family stayed and had a blast!! My parents live very close to Hershey. I grew up with a seasonal pass every summer. I forget how flat FL is. peachydreamyxx, you should be in great shape for Disney! Those hills at Hershey Park made me realize and appreciate how flat Disney is. It was way more of a workout at HP then WDW!!

Here's what I had, my thoughts are in red on what to save/cancel:

22- AK
8:10 am - Tusker House keep, love breakfast anyways and handy to get in early and be close to kilamanjaro
5:05 pm - Boma Might cancel as bit of a pain to have to travel to get there

My youngest has special needs, and I can sure relate about the stimulation and going into overdrive. I usually bring quiet toys or DK ULtimate sticker books with us to the sit downs just in case I need to entertain him to get him quiet.

Boma would not be hard to travel to, if you are still at the AK. Just hop on the AKL bus, it's right around the corner from the AK. Walk in the main doors and hop on an elevator on the right hand side and go down a floor to Boma. Very easy. If you are early or you want to hang around after dinner, you can go outside and walk around and see the animals. There is a viewing area on the main floor just pass check in. It looks like just a lounge, but beyond the seating area there is a door to the outside to stand out and look. Heading out the doors from Boma there are more animals beyond the theme pool. There is also another viewing area off of the 2nd floor, and a fire and storyteller outside. Also additional viewing areas.

To get back to SSR from AK you would have to hop a bus either to another park if AK isn't still open or to DTD.

23 - BB or TL Not sure which one to go to?
6:25 pm - Turf Club (we're staying at SSR) keep

With the age span of your kids, you might want to consider BB. I would suggest asking for a locker at the Ski Patrol Area. That way you will be right at a bathroom, some food stands, the kiddie area and the pre-teen area!! The preteen area is so nice. When my oldest, who is now 17 was in elementary school that was his favorite water park. We use to drive there after school alot. Until he got too old for the ski patrol area and they told him he could no longer play in there.

The onion rings with dips is sooooo good at the Turf Club. We've only been there at lunch time. The crab cakes are super small, but very yummy! The tomato soup with goat cheese was very good. The Angus chuck burger was mediocre.

6:25 pm - Biergarten Keep! (I'm German)

We go to Biergarten alot. If you check out my TR Disney Done Differently there are many pics of it towards the end of the report. I took pics of all the food and portions of the show.

26 - DTD/resort day
11:30 am - TREX Keep
5:00 pm - Hoop De Doo Cancel. Pain to travel and I don't know how well my youngest will take it since there's so much noise and stimulation for a long period of time.

Remember that TREX has a dig site, so if you have to wait for seating or it's taking too long for food to arrive you can take your son to the dig site to get out some energy! There is LOTS of noise at T-REX and tons of stimulation. My son loved it, but had his hands over his ears most of the meal, especially during the meteor showers!

I agree Hoop Dee Doo is not the easiest to get to or get back to the resort from.

28 - DHS
8:05 am - Hollywood and Vine Cancel? I heard this isn't very good compared to other character breakfasts. Thoughts?
1:40 pm - 50's Primetime Keep, I think. Food looks yummy!

I also have pics of 50's Prime time in my TR, but haven't updated the 1st page with links in a long time. We had a blast there during Star Wars Weekends. I wanted Sci-Fi but only 50'sPTC was available. I was worried about the stimulation and how long you have to wait for a table. We waited a long wait to be seated. DS played brick breaker on my husband's phone to pass the time away. The food was ok. But our server was FANTASTIC!! We hid ds's leftover food on DH's plate so that DS could get the clean plate sticker. DH kept getting in trouble about his elbows. He kept doing things to purposely get in trouble and ended up having to take his dishes to the kitchen! DS wanted to go that too, and the server let him. We had a blast!

We love The Plaza! It's one of our favorite places. They all know us in there. Chef Ken is the best! He is so sweet and stops by our table even if our allergy kid isn't with us!

Narcoossees has amazing food! I loved our experience there! There were plenty of children so I wouldn't worry about that. But it took extremely long to get the food. It was a very relaxed meal and not rushed at all, but the waiting can seem like an eternity for a child who wants to have fun and if sitting at the table is not his idea of fun.

We are doing the QSDP again this year beacuse my youngest just cannot sit and relax in a resturaunt. She is 3 also. She does good until she is done eating and that is it. Then she is ready to go. I don't want the stress of alot of adr's either. We have 2 adr's for our 10 day stay one T-rex and the other Tusker house. Plus she has a habbit of falling a sleep in the stroller everytime we have a adr. It just makes it easier for us all around. Good luck with trimming your list.

Good idea about the address in the luggage tag! I am so excited for my Mickey mail too! We're also waiting for the new stroller we ordered on Amazon, that should come today.

Thanks for your tips about 50s PT too, those are good points. They have that one entree that is the "sampler" (from allears.net menu) that would be splitable if we weren't too hungry as well...I'll have to run some numbers. DH & I are a bit nervous about the CM interaction at 50s PT but we can handle it :).

DH & I are off to the Wisconsin Dells for 2 nights by ourselves this weekend and I promised I'd go on rollercoasters with him! :scared1: I've never gone on any bigger than Big Thunder and that terrified me as a child but I'm not going to miss Expedition Everest etc. while we're there this time! I think after the high, fast, non-themed ones I do this week it will be a piece of cake, albeit by myself due to the need for baby swap.
