September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

I was once said I would NEVER take a child to disney without being potty trained, but that flew out the window when DD2 was born. Actually having one in diapers is much better then when we took oldest DD, then 3, right before she was daignosed with over active bladder :scared1: We ran to the bathroom every 30 minutes and couldn't stand in a line that was longer

Yeah I was thinking it would be nice if our almost 2 year old was potty trained for our trip, but then I remembered that newly trained kids go from fine to have to GO in 2.3 seconds...

Diapers weren't a big deal last year at all....

Hi Ladies, it's been a long time since I posted in this thread last. For the longest time I thought the slow loading issue was the 'boards as other webpages seemed ok. I knew I was having other computer issues but I didn't realize it was affecting my browsing DIS. So slow that it was too hard to keep up. Thankfully a month ago I was able to purchase a new hard drive and operating system. Whatever was wrong is gone now.

Harper, would you change our resort on the main page? Today I switched us over to POR. Still the same dates. I'm glad my TA was able to switch us under the original FD offer. Though I don't know if we will be going or cancelling now...

BTW, I love those shirts! Wish I could find stuff like that here.

Staying September 15-21 - Polynesian - DH's Birthday and MNSSHP!

Ok, so I couldn't get over my nagging feeling and I upgraded. :woohoo:

We are now staying at the AKL 9/24-9/28 instead of the ASMo. I figured if we are staying out that far on property, might as well make it deluxe so I can eat at Boma and Sanaa.

We had to change our dates to Sept.9-17. It's OK by me I don't mind being there a week earlier than planned:thumbsup2

I thought it would be terrible to try and get ADR's again, but there was much more available that week and I think I've gotten it all squared away

Almost down to double digits! 104 left to go!

We switched from CSR to CBR today!! Im actually very excited since the last time I was there I was 2! Im upset that Im loosing the queen size beds and the Pepper Market (DH and myself LOVED the food at the PM) but I happened to see the Pirate splash area at CBR and knew DS would have a field day. We are staying in a preferred room, and I really know nothing about the resort, exscept that its huge! At least for the next few days I can keep myself occupied trying to find out everything there is to know about CBR :rotfl:

woo! I'm going to be at CSR from 8/31-9/6!!!!! Solo & fabulous!:goodvibes

:welcome: to the new travelers to our thread! I have everyone added or changed. Our list is growing!!! :dance3:

Ladies, this may be one of my last posts on this thread, unless we get a miracle. We may have to do an eleventh hour cancel. We had the nastiest "unforeseen circumstances" I have ever encountered hit us today. Pray and think good thoughts for us, I'll know if we're sunk for sure by tomorrow!:sad2:I'll let everybody know!

Oh no!!! I will be praying for you and your family. I hope that you won't have to cancel your trip and that everything will be ok.

Well up until this point we were going to Disney and never returning...sigh...I suppose that isn't the best plan, so I just bought return flights. Ugh. Hahahahahaha! ;)

I'm sure many of you have seen this, but apparently, ticket prices are going up on Sunday. This is a departure from Disney's customary approach of increasing prices the first weekend of each August. I guess they will be trying to capitalize on summer travel.

I wonder if this means that if we modify our reservation after this weekend (even if the number of ticket days purchased stays the same), future package changes could be re-calculated with these new ticket prices? If so, make sure you are comfortable with your vacation plans now!

I know I priced out the same vacation as we have this year for next year and the vacation was 200.00 more for the same time. That is a big price increase imo. There has also been a huge price increase for the dining plans. QSDp was the only one with no increase but lost a snack credit. We will be going back but we will most likey never see a moderate again. I'm very thankfull for the values so we can continue to go every year.

I agree. The values are extremely comparable to or better than the price of offsite hotels. It makes it worth staying on site for all the other resort-guest benefits!

The regular dining will add the mug which is cool for a family like mine that drinks a lot, but we would never stay at a deluxe and the uk deal is only offering the qsdp for value AND mods in 2012 (as of now, don't quote me or anything lol ) and it also showed a 3 day ticket min instead of two which would stink in our situation. It has me wishing this stay was on site and that our NEXT stay would be off site because by then bastian will be a dis adult and Clara will be 3 so we will be in a suite or TWO value rooms....

Oh Disney math. If only my husband understood why I fret the way I do..

Seriously. I have been making pro and con lists and spread sheets and then even tried making some ADRs "in case" we switch but nothing I wanted was open. SO I took it as a sign from Walt himself that I shouldn't switch ( :rotfl: ) so then I got happy to be off site again thinking about being able to do laundry and fun snacks I can make to bring to the park and not having to worry about the 45 day pay off date.. THEN they released the new dining info for 2012 and the prices for the AoA suites and I went back to "Oh I should just stay one more time, this is a sign from Walt himself that I better stay on-site (:rotfl: ) and now I missed booking with a cheaper ticket because even though undercover is still selling the cheap ones I would have to buy the more expensive for the package... which made it another sign I should stay off site

Nevermind - maybe I know why my husband stopped listening to me :lmao::lmao:

Actually under the FD memories package the tickets are still the same price. Not that I'm trying to bend your arm. LOL Also you cannot go by the UK deal they also get upgraded tickets and other things that we don't get.

I know AOA is going to suck me in next year for a mermaid room if they happen to be available But it looks like right now we will be back at pop. AOA standard rooms will be around 35.00 more a night then the other values and the suites will be around 50.00 more a night. I beleive this is due to the theme rooms(like the pirate rooms). I'm one of those that will pay for the theme room. They get me every time like that.

Yikes! I missed all this! I've been busy with my daughter's birthday party. Guess I'm going to be staying up late reviewing all the changes and pricing a vacation for 2012! I do like that they added a mug to the regular dining plan.

Bummer that the AOA standards rooms are that much more than other values. Are suites generally that expensive? It's weird that it would be cheaper to book two separate rooms (which would sleep 8 total) than 1 suite (that would sleep only 6). How does that make sense?

For our dates of travel in 2012, the AOA standard rooms are $10 more a night than the other values. That's not too bad of a price difference, so we will probably stay at AOA in 2012.

We've been enjoying the free ride for my 2 year old daughter thus far, but it will end in 2012. Hope I don't have too much sticker shock when we put everything together!

Disney doesn't let you price vacation packages this far out, so I'm going to wait to calculate any real costs (for now!). Our December 2012 trip will be determined by schedules for MVMCP and possibly CP, which won't come out for another year. Guess I'll be waiting awhile! :surfweb:

Really?!?!?!
:faint:
:worship: for the info. off to go make another list :surfweb: (it would be :rotfl: if it wasn't true :sad2: )

$50 more for their suites just seemed a little steep to me. And we could get two values but the only thing DH said was he didn't want a little mermaid room, and I think i read that the standard rooms will all be little mermaid. I've got plenty of time to worry about next trip, I cannot even make up my mind for this one :rotfl:

I tied to get a package price for AOA in a standard room and there was nothing. Did you just go with a room only? Maybe that is my issue?

I was thinking the same thing, if I don't keep the Little Mermaid rooms a secret from my daughter I will be sucked into a room at AOA as well. I showed her the pictures of the Royal Rooms at the POR that will be available starting next spring and my 8 year old daughter who is a Poly loyalist, (and doesn't know we are staying somewhere else this trip :scared1:), was ready to jump ship and stay at the POR in a heartbeat. Going to do a split stay in Sept. 2012.

Wow, just for kicks I just looked for Sept. 2012 at the AOA. For the week we go, (last week of Sept), there weren't any Mermaid rooms available. The Cars and Nemo suites were still available, but no Little Mermaid.

For the people that complain that Disney caters too much to little girls with the Princess stuff, I guess this is proof positive of what sells to them, LOL.

I kind of wish the POR would have added Haunted Mansion rooms in addition to the Tiana Royal Rooms as well though. I would have booked a HM in a New York minute.

I was just looking at the pricing chart on Disney's website to determine cost. I don't believe Disney's vacation package tool allows you to calculate a package price this far in advance.

That is beacuse the rooms (standard) are the last to be done. I think they are opening the resort in stages. So I don't think they plan on those being done. That is my educated guess. LOL

I would have loved the Haunted Mansion rooms as well!! The Royal Rooms do like nice and my husband agrees they don't come across to "girly" to him - just very "royal". So we might stay there one year. Too bad they won't be done this spring/summer. ;)

If CBR had made their pirate rooms queen-sized beds, we would have stayed there last year.

Ouch to all the price increases :scared:

Not sure yet where we would like to stay next year if we go to Disney...I think my girls would love the Royal rooms at POR but AoA looks fun too :confused3

Also, we love September but I really want a Christmas trip :santa:, lol

We're at the 3 month mark today :yay:

We just booked a royal room for 2012. I didn't add dining. If they don't come out with free dining. We will just pay OP for food since the plan has gone up so much. We have been lucky to get free dining for the past 3 years. So I'm sure with the increase in cost disney will have to offer some sort of discount. Even if they are trying to get away from it.

Just a FYi if you do book that there are now 9 diffrent room catogories at POR. I was so stinkin confused. I just told her the cheapest royal room. I think the room cat thing is a little overboard.
