Well, we are pllaning our trip on Sept. 7-11th. Just wondered what the weather is like at that time of the year. I guess HOT!!

Any tips/advice would be much appreciated. Just adults going, no kids in the group.

THANK YOU!

The Disney Divas will be there 9/8-9/13 and would like to know what to expect weather wise as well! :cutie:
popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

We usually go the 3rd week in September and it is always hot! If you are staying on site I would suggest you take advantage of EMH am or pm that way you won't be in the parks during the hottest time of the day. Also if you must be in the parks say btwn 12-4 then take in more indoor attractions and stay hydrated.

We always go the same week as the first two posters...and will be there again this year (5th-13th)...it will be EXTREMELY HOT. Plan to take breaks in the afternoon to swim and cool off. Have water shipped to your resort and plan to drink LOTS of it to stay hydrated. Also plan on Tstorms every afternoon. They usually don't last too long (usually until dinner time). I would also suggest getting a misting fan to cool off while in the parks and visit the cooling stations (huge misting fans like they have at football games). Animal Kingdom seems to be the worst for whatever reason. Definately plan on hitting the safari first thing in the morning when you go to AK. The animals will all be hiding in the afternoon.

The good news is that the lines will be minimal so most of the water rides you can ride over and over again (Kali River Rapids and Splash Mountain in particular).

Oh wow I'm going to be there from Sept. 7 til Sept. 12. And our dd's are the same age, well almost, mine turns 4 in Aug. We've never been this time of year though so it's good to know the lines aren't horrendus.

Hello All! Disney World is VERY HOT in September. It really cannot be described other than to say it will literally hit you in the face! Do not plan on wearing make-up, drink lots of ice water (freeze water bottles the night before in your freezer if you have a fridge in your room) and bring them along, wear loose/comfortable/breathable clothing, and plan breaks. Staying hydrated is very important. I will be there, staying at ASM, September 10-20, with DGS (4). I am bringing my own refrigerator as I will be driving this time. If you are staying at a value resort like me, you will not have a fridge in your room unless you request it and pay $10 per day, or bring your own if you are driving. They run about $80 at Home Depot. If you do not want to leave the parks, which is realistic since you are not travelling with children, and people with young children will leave the parks at that time to take their children back to the hotel for naps, then plan to do things such as Hall of Presidents, Country Bears, Haunted Mansion, It's a Small World and Laugh Floor Comedy Club. Or maybe plan to do your shopping at this time. You can have items shipped to your hotel so you do not need to carry them around the park the rest of the day. Do what works for your group and have a magical time!

Last year we were there the 3rd week of September and this year the last week. We don't do the heat and humidity well so were very concerned about our trip last september. We went once in June and thought it was so miserable we would never go this time of year again. September was not as bad as we thought. It rained and would cool off a bit and with the shorter lines we did fine. We did plan on lots of water to keep hydrated and took breaks to cool off. Spent a lot of time in air conditioned places and by a pool during the really hot parts of the day. Plan for hot weather and you will do fine. Only a couple more months I can't wait.:yay:

We live down here Alabama/Florida border. You can expect hot with HIGH humdity. It's the humdity that will get you. Plan to take a break somewhere cool from 11-2 - during these hours it can get down right miserable and dangerous. You also need to make sure that everyone in your party drinks plenty of water!
As long as you take breaks and listen to your body - ya'll be fine. One of the previous posters made a recommendation that I agree with - make good us of the early hours in the morning and the hours after 4 pm. That's one of the good things about staying on Disney property.

I was planning to go next year for my birthday, September 16. I've only been in early December, late Feb., and early March. So I never went to the water parks, which I figured I could do in September. Now I think maybe mid-September is the wrong time to go!

It's not as hot as July/August, but hot and humid nonetheless. But with the crowds substantially lower, it's a great time of year to go. No one has mentioned that September is still hurricane season, so keep an eye on that. I like www.accuweather.com because they give a 15-day forecast (I know that 15 days out isn't too accurate, but it's fun!).
Also, take ponchos - afternoon thunderstorms can blow up quickly but they blow out just as quick.

I love to go in Sept. (check out my siggie) and yes it is hot and humid but I still enjoy it. And I'm from So Cal. where we have very little humidity (In fact, we are scheduled to have some later this week and it's all over the weather report!) Anyway, as others have said, T-storms will roll in most every afternoon but usually only stay for awhile. There are exceptions such as last year when we were at the first MNSSHP and it poured-for hours, and the lightening was the most I've seen in all my trips there.

We usually go to both waterparks in Sept. and that's one excellent way to stay cool! We love :cloud9: TL and BB!

AK is the hottest park-with all the vegetation it has it's own micro-climate. :sunny:

I do the parks at WDW completely different than I do the local ones here. When I'm at WDW I do wear some makeup but I don't normally wear that much to begin with. Make sure you wear water proof mascara if you want to have any on by the end of the day. The rest of your makeup will be gone. I also will wear a baseball type hat at WDW. Once my hair gets wet, I'll usually put that hat on, or wear it up with a big clip. I don't care as much about how I'll look, it's just too hot. But you can always wear your sunglasses in your pix and look great! I also waer tank tops most of the time, which I rarely do at home.

Ditto about drinking plenty of water. We actually drink very little soda during the days and do water. All the food places will give you glasses of water for free! And if you want flavor, just add those ind. flavor tubes-my DD8 loves them. I also carry a ziploc with a washcloth, or one of those quick drying towels (like you use to dry your car) in it. Feels great on the face, neck, and arms when it gets really hot. And you can even add ice to it to make it more refreshing.

The mister fans are great. The ones WDW sells are pretty big-you can buy smaller ones. Also you can carry around (clip it on) one of those small, individual fans. Some people bring those neck coolers, but I've found that a nice cold towel works just as well, or better.

Wear waterproof shoes. I now only wear crocs. My current ones are the Cleos which are more stylish than the Beach ones and even look pretty. I can walk through any amount of water wearing these things and never have to worry about having wet socks! They are also great wearing in the waterparks-no water shoes necessary. If you are going to wear sneakers with socks, bring along an extra pair of socks with you to the parks and pack at least 2 pairs of shoes so you can wear one while one is drying. If they get wet, stuff them with paper towels so they'll dry faster.

Take a break during the heat of the day. Go back to the hotel to swim. If you stay in the parks, find a nice, a/c inside location to have your lunch and later a mid-day rest/snack. If you go back to swim now that they will close the pools if lightening is detected nearby but once the threat has passed, they will re-open.

We like to go to one park in the a.m. and then take a break after lunch. Then we'll usually head out to Epcot (unless there's a EMH PM somewhere) to end our day after it starts to cool down.

AK-Pizzafari at AK is a great place to take a mid-day break. Since AK is only open until 5 (except EMH) you probably won't leave there during the day and be able to make it back so plan on staying all day. Another great place to cool-off is the Finding Nemo show. And it's a great show as well. As is The Lion King. Both, IMHO, are not be missed and are a great place to cool off during the day.

EPCOT-Check out Club Cool for some wonderful A/C and free samples of Cokes from around the world. The Energy Adventure with Ellen is a good ride/show to do during the heat of the day. It's all inside and takes about 45 min. Innoventions, West and East, have some interesting things to do/look at and it's nice and cool inside.

We take advantage of the PM EMH. But then again, being from So Cal., with the 3 hr. time difference, it's a no brainer for us-while the AM EMH is tougher. I love the parks at night.

There are locations at the parks where you can get your body wet-do it-it's a quick way to cool down.

Wear, and reapply, sunscreen. Wear a hat. Drink water. Take breaks. Water play. Have fun. Keep to the shade. Ponchos.

Oh yes, you should be pleasantly surprised. Just try to encourage your DD to drink lots of water (not to be gross but we noticed the first year that DD wasn't going to the bathroom too often...I think she was slightly dehydrated). We now make her drink a little water between every ride. We also let her eat popcorn at the parks because it makes her most thirsty.

If you see me at the parks...make sure to say hello! You can check out my pretrip report (link if below) for photos. I also always have my lime green Mickey head on my bag!

Thank you so much for the tips about drinking water. I will have to force it down her, but this is a must.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my post...This is great information. I live in the Midwest and know very well how HOT is goes get. The humidity is awful.

Thanks again!!

I'm also from the midwest,so humidity is a way of life...but I still hate it! I'm going on my next Disney vacation in Sept for my birthday. This is the first time I haven't gone in the dead of summer, though it's not much later! Some day I'd like to try going when it's a bit cooler. Right now I'm just happy to be going back.:dance3:
