Planning our next visit to AKL with the in-laws. Hoping for free dining. I'm going to make the room reservations to assure animal kingdom lodge available. We went in sept 2007, and my family fell in love with AKL. Sept 2008 czn not come soon enough.:woohoo:

Great to see some new DISer's out there!!

In the event you didn't know how to subscribe to a thread here on the DISboards, below are the instructions. Doing it this way instead of creating a "subscribing post" helps keep the clutter off the thread so it's easier and faster for people to read through the pages!

Subscribing: Did you know you do not have to reply to this thread to subscribe to it? On any thread on the DISboards, near the top of the page and just under the advertisement banner and "Page # of #", there's a drop-down option named "Thread Tools". After clicking on this, select "Subscribe to this Thread".

Have a great trip, and keep those fingers are crossed for that special code to come!!!!

I thought I read somewhere that if Disney offers free dining in September that it is only good at a moderate or deluxe resort stay. We were contemplating staying at All Star Music. Is it true that we could not get free dining if it was offered because we were staying at a value resort?

Disney has offered free dinning in the past, including September and at the value resorts. We have used the offer the past two years and are hoping it comes back again this year.

I can't say what the rules of this years free dining will be but we stayed at the All Star Music this past September (9/16/07-9/22/07) and had the free dining. I don't think it matters if you stay at a value, moderate or deluxe. We were hoping to get the same deal again this year. It was definitely a good deal.
I did read somewhere that gratuities and appetizers were no longer included in the 2008 dining plan. That adds a little extra expense for the tip but they give you so much food the appetizer isn't really necessary.

Hopefully someone else will know for sure.:)

How was the crowds and lines and weather when you were there in September? Where did you stay and how late were the parks open? Thanks

We booked our first trip with the kids (dd4 and ds2) for September 14th through the 20th. I am so excited. We will be ther for dd's 5th birthday. I would like to get FD, but if they don't offer it, that will be fine too.

The crowds were not bad at all when we were there in September. We were there during the week arriving on a Sunday and leaving on a Saturday. It was around 80-85 degrees most of the week but it wasn't too bad. It was humid though and we had a few downpours but it wasn't a continuous rain. The one evening a storm did go through and the Spectromagic parade was cancelled.
The lines weren't bad at all. I don't think we waited more than 20 minutes for any ride. We were there in Nov. of 06 and the lines were much worse. The weather was better but the crowds weren't. It was over the Super soap weekend so that might have had something to do with it. :)
The hours for Sept. were Animal Kingdom 9:00-5:00, Magic Kingdom 9:00-8:00, Epcot Future World 9:00-7:00 and Epcot World Showcase 11:00-9:00. We didn't go to MGM this time so I am not sure what the hours there were.
We stayed at the All Star Music both visits and really liked the resort. If you stay at a Disney resort you can also take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours.
I hope that helps. :)

Returning to POFQ with DSis from 9/17 - 9/27, so of course we're keeping our eyes open for codes. Its a little early (only 254 days :rolleyes2), but that gives us plenty of time to plan.

When it Sept. were you there?

Never mind, I went back a couple of pages and saw you were there Sept. 16-22.

The stays in September are our favorite! I am looking at going with my DH and DS5 towards the end of the month. I would love free dining, but even still, just going is great!

Just booked for Sept. 7-13 at POR! Can't wait!! Hoping for free dining! Its my parents 50th anniversary and they are taking the extended family!! Hope this isn't a busy time of year! Anyone been during this time? :cool1:

We should start a count or poll to see how many people are going in Sept. ?

It seems very popular on DisBoards so far

I am going too! Sept 6th-13th! Except we are staying off-site so no FD if they offer it :sad2: I hear that the crowds can be really low or medium because of the FD offer. We have normally gone during Spring Break, sometimes around Easter so I think I can handle whatever crowds show up - I hope! We'll just have to see about the heat....

:thumbsup2 Subscribing. Hoping to go in the 2nd week of Sept this year.

edit: my husband vetod Sept because of the heat/weather. guess i'll shoot for Dec instead.
