Wic, Pooh and I have something in common in that we both were on our own at a young age and there are far worse things we could have done to pay the rent than to wrestle, arm or otherwise. :rotfl: I also had some pool tricks that got me a few odd dollars here and there. I doubt I could do many of them anymore though. I once did one with my grandsons watching and reached an entirely new level of respect from them. I also target shoot. One would think my husband would be a whole lot nicer to me would not one????

I am so sorry about all your ills as a child. It must have been equally hard on your parents. Something about watching your child hurt and not being able to do anything about it wrenches a heart. Turning blue and it scared your husband? Is that why he is now an ex? :rotfl2: It would scare mine too. He would be scared that his next meal would be served late. Honestly, I have been in the middle of a gall bladder attack, hanging onto the kitchen counter, sweat pouring down my face and he was kind enough to wait until it was over before asking when dinner was going to be. See, you all thought he was totally heartless. :confused3

I use my peak flow meter just to see how much trouble I am in and to try to catch it before it becomes really bad. I get to blow out birthday candles on the computer tomorrow. Why does that cost so much??

My grandson helped me change the batteries in the smoke detectors while he was here and did not ask me to pay him. WTG!!! I did take him to the pizza buffet for lunch though.

SG/Linda

You target shoot too???? Yeah, I would definately think your husband should be on his toes...just a wee bit! :rotfl2:

My ex-husband was a total butthead! I married at 19 and divorced him at 21! I consider that marriage a learning experience! I dated him pretty much all through high school, but once we got married I realized that he had "mommy" issues..and I just couldn't compete with her! He was also a lying, cheatin SOB, and I caught him red handed....caught him on a Thursday night, and I had divorce papers filed by 10:00 Friday morning! It was a good out for what had turned out to be a disaster of a marriage! I waited almost 20 years to tie the knot again after that!

wic0721, you are a whole lot smarter than I ever was. My first husband went out on me the evening we got married. He had a really good excuse though as I was too young to go to the bars with him. Can you believe I bought that? Things went downhill after that but it took me over three years to get smart enough to get out. Being beaten up and left for dead does tend to knock some brains into anyone's head, even mine. Mistakes are learning experiences. That is why I am so wise. :rotfl:

Pooh, are you asking me if it is my birthday as an explanation as to why my grandson helped me? Let's not rush that occasion as it is a major milestone this year and I am thinking, hard, on how I might celebrate the occasion. In my family I am the oldest so making it this long is quite an accomplishment. :wizard:

SG/Linda

I am sorry Pooh. It is an obscure asthma/COPD reference. They have a computer program at the doctor's where you blow into a tube and blow out birthday candles. The more you put out the better off you are. I am hoping to eradicate at least two. lol

I am going to a Bridal Show this weekend (Not Engaged Yet Gals)but I don't want to miss out to be able to attend my girlfriend (who is a Radio Morning DJ) is going to be there and I haven't seen her in a while so we will be able to catch up hopefully.

How is your mom doing?

Not engaged yet...geesh, what is he waiting for??? :rotfl2:

Mom's doing good, she had another round of chemo on Monday and her numbers are down another 20 points, which is a good thing! Guess she's at 89 now and she needs to get down to 20. She has been dropping 20 points a month for the past 3 months...so at the rate she's going, she may be cancer free by this summer! :woohoo: Which would be a good thing, as she loves to swim and with this chemo, she's not supposed to be out in the sun or heat!

Good morning folks!! I was woken up at an obscene time by the friendly folks at NAPA who were assuring me that if I came up right then (6:30 am) they could get my car in for an oil change. I almost had to pick them up from the floor when they asked, hesitantly, if I might know the engine type, model etc. of the car that I researched, shopped for and beat the dealer down to a price that left HIM crying in the driveway. I even am smart enough to have saved up enough money to write a check to pay for it in full. I buy cars by what is under the hood rather than what color the floormats are. :thumbsup2 One more thing off my list of things to do. I even got home well before dh was awake. Hard life, poor man.

I have been told that I have a sinus infection to go with my pneumonia. It does not hurt so what do I care other than it means more meds, more cash going out. Not sure Tom would think I am worth the repair bill but then he does not need to know everything. After all it is MY job to figure out how to pay the bills. He is just along for the ride. Luckily, for him, I am a good driver. :rotfl:

I am feeling a bit more ornery and cantankerous than usual and that is saying something, for me. :scared1:

Pooh, seems like you are well prepared for a wedding, either yours or someone else's. Have fun with your friend. It is always wonderful catching up and just chatting about life in general. BTW, I got three candles blown out.

WIC, 99% of the things I say I do, I did a very long time ago. When I got married it pretty much stopped me in my tracks and I am only now getting back on track, slowly. I have been taking myself to the movies and doing some things on my own and letting the chips fall where they may. I keep the house clean and do many of the chores, just not as well as I used to. It is no longer my life goal to leave everything in pristine condition for those who follow in my footsteps. Ch, ch, changes!!! :rolleyes1 How is your mom doing this week? How much longer until the treatments are over?

Slightly Goofy/Linda

Bil is taking dh for the weekend. i am going to clean house , make a pot of tea and sit down, read, watch some movies and sleep. Gonna spoil meself rotten. :rotfl2:

Wic, your mom sounds like a wonderful woman!!! Please tell her that she has a support group she has never met who would love to have her join you at DW one day so we can celebrate her being cancer free together!!!

SG/Linda

I totally agree with you, my mom is definately a wonderful woman!

I've told her that I talk about her on the Dis boards...but she has no clue what I'm talking about! She's going to be 80 this year, and has no idea how to use a computer! I'm still trying to teach her and my dad how to operate the cell phone I bought them last Christmas..not this past Christmas! :rotfl2:

I've thought about bringing her to DW with me, she's never been before. But the chemo has left her feet trashed! She falls alot now, because she can't feel her feet anymore (first round of chemo side effect)....and now those numb feet are burning and swollen all the time from the rounds of chemo she's now getting. I just don't think she'd be able to enjoy herself...if I brought her! She hasn't driven a car in years, so I think she'd be afraid of driving a scooter too!

Wic, there is only one thing to do then, plan a trip when it is cool and I can breathe better and let me push her around in a wheelchair. I can push a wheelchair far better than I can walk around without anything. I do this when I do places with older folks all the time and they keep thanking me even though I tell them that it is helping me as much as they. :thumbsup2

I keep reading about the new 40% code that supposedly is for tickets and food too. Sounds too good to be true and I have not gotten anything nearly that good. I have gotten two recent offers but they are either for the next few weeks (recent trip too clear in my memory) or the prices are not that good or at times I cannot even bear to think of going.

Does anyone know the details of the 40% deal? I got it last year and that is why we went in December.

I don't know if she'd be "agreeable" to being pushed in a wheelchair....she's pretty fiesty! She's always telling me she see's alot of herself in me! :scared:

I haven't seen anything about the 40% deals, but I'm going searching for them now! :surfweb:

Hi Pooh, Only one month to go till Valentine's day. The bridal show sounds like fun. In that respect you are different than me. My DH wanted the big wedding and I wanted to save the money and elope having a great honeymoon instead. Couldn't convince him to elope and didn't wish to make it a battle of wills so I gave him the wedding of his dreams. lol In the end he just wanted the party and only put in his limited ideas and he agreed that we should have just eloped after all. UGH Men!!! My friends all really enjoyed having big weddings and planning them and I stood up for a few myself so I know where your coming from so enjoy it. Have you ever thought of becoming a wedding planner? I bet you would be good and it and love it.

Wic,
I am thrilled to hear about your mothers numbers going down. She will be better in no time. Do they expect the burning and numbness to get better too?

SG,
I am glad to hear you are doing things for you. I love going to the movies with or without someone. Now I go with my son and if he wants to see something different we split up and then meet afterwards. It's nice with him being older so he doesn't have to poke me during Jimmy Neutron or some other movie I didn't care to see to tell me to wake up. lol I swear I could sleep standing up when I am bored.

Ants,
Way to go on the weight loss. It sounds like you are feeling better physically and mentally and that is great to hear. It is funny how sometimes things happen to open our eyes to the people around us who really do care.

Take care
Angela

Hey Ang,

I don't know if these side effects will go away once the chemo is done or not. The original side effects from the first round of treatment never did. :headache: I have to give me mom alot of credit, I don't know if I would have held up as well as she is, if it was me! She's just taking everything in stride, I had to laugh at her this morning....I walked in with Kellie just as she was getting ready to have her breakfast this morning. She was complaining that she had to wait 2 more days before she could drink coffee or have juice for breakfast again - more before and after chemo treatment no no's!

When my husband and I got married, he wanted to elope....but I was the one who wanted the big ole party with my friends! He ended up having the best time, our reception was a blast! :yay:

My husband and I were both asked a couple weeks ago to be in a wedding party for one of our friends in October. We already have been invited to 4 weddings for this year and it's only January! And I'm in 2 of them as of right now! Years ago, I was in two weddings in one weekend and one of them was my cousin's in upstate NY..like an 8 hour drive!

Yup was a wedding consultant for a long time designed my own gowns. Loved it. I was actually going to start my business up around here but after I started to really get into the process of it I got very scared and and really haven't done anything with it since. My lack of confidence and the fact that my stroke took some much out of me I am really scared that I would start a wedding and then forget something very important and bomb there goes my business.

How about starting it up again with a friend, that way you have two sets of eyes, and someone to have your back...in case you forget something! :confused3
