I am planning a trip to DLR and DCA September 20-23. I know Halloweentime starts around this time (I think someone said Sept 16th) and I was wondering if anyone has gone around the first to second week of halloweentime and how were the Crowds? I know friday(23rd) will be pretty busy, but what are the weekdays like? And does anyone know if they extend hours for halloweentime?

Weekdays will be very pleasant, but on a Friday it will noticeable get busier with the evening feeling very busy.

However it's a bit of a trade off. Midweek hours are likely to be short and there would not be F! or Fireworks .

We went that week last year. Pretty much walked on everything Monday - Thursday. DD's favorite new ride was Screamin', never used fast passes, no more than 10-15 min waits. Rode it one afternoon 3 times in a row. Now Friday was different, definitely more crowded and used fast pass everywhere that day.

Hi there, Aurora_Disney! Welcome!

In this particular post from the Halloween at DLR Superthread, if you scroll down to the 2010 information you will see I included a link to the park hours/entertainment schedule from last September, which also covers which rides were closed. I know that last year's hours and schedules do not necessarily mean that it will be exactly the same this year, but at least you can get an idea of what it might be like.

Yes, Halloween Time begins on 9/16 this year (the date differs every year). I've done HalloweenTime trips to DLR in the next to last week of September, in early October and in late October. By far, the September trip had the lowest crowds. Then again, it rained off and on that whole weekend so that drove the crowds away. But I think it would have been less crowded even without rain.

The Halloween party will not begin until at least September 30, if not later. A lot of folks choose to wait to make their HalloweenTime trips to DLR until the party is running too. So that would mean that those last couple of weeks of September might be less crowded because the party will not have begun yet.

But HalloweenTime has become increasingly more popular, so there isn't a completely slow time anymore - even in the off-peak season. And this year will see the opening of the new Little Mermaid ride and Star Tours 2.0, so the crowds will surely be pretty healthy all year, I think.

Come join us in the Halloween Superthread if you have a chance and read up on/see photos of all the fun things you can expect to ride/see/eat/buy during that most wonderful season!

Last year we visited from September 15th-17th (the 17th being the first day of Halloween Time) and it was probably one of the best times we went in regards to crowds. Crowds were very low and wait times were extremely short; I think the longest we waited in line for any ride was maybe 15 minutes! We had a really good time during this time of year. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the replies. :goodvibes I am glad to know this is a good time of year to go. Is the haunted mansion and Space mountain usually opened back up by the beginning of halloween time?

Yes. They are a big part of Halloween and the season starts with them reopening with thier overlays.
