September 2, 2012 - Magic - NYC to Canada

i've lived in NYC my whole life and Top of the Rock is HANDS DOWN the best view of the city ever. Takes my breath away everytime.

We did Palo dinner already, thinking of doing the Brunch this time. Is it worth it?

Also got first seating this time so we're not SOOOO tired after dinner that we just fall asleep. We hardly went to the bars etc and want to experience that this time around! :)

Palo brunch is so worth it!!! I say go for it, you won't be disappointed

I can't wait! It was Top of the rock or Empire and I read Rock was better.

WOW! Must be the busiest 24 hours in thread history!

I went to Ellis Island today w my daughters' 4th grade class and we got to see the Space Shuttle go up to the Intrepid. What a day!

Welcome!

Well, we just had to push our cruise date to a dummy date late next year. We take care of my 92 year old Gma and things didn't go so well with our Gma sitter while we were on the Fantasy last week so...we need to stay home until we can find other arrangements. I'm sooo sad but what can you do.

Hope you all have a wonderful time and maybe we'll have a chance to meet on another cruise!

Btw, we were on the FE list so don't forget to remove us. Sorry, to make it even smaller.
So sorry to hear. Best wishes

I'll make the facebook group and post a link in a few minutes!!!!!! Wooooooo! There's an FE going, right?

Great news we will be on the same excursions!! Really starting to get excited about this cruise!!

When is your Palo times?

Not sure if we have come up with a time for the meet. On our last cruise we all met at 3pm in the lounge.

Cool, we'll see you on both excursions then! Our Palo dinner is on Halifax night, and the brunch on the final sea day.

3pm sounds like a good time to meet! That's when we met on our two prior cruises too, and that worked well.

Hmm, now I'm starting to get confused again. I have been so unsure about whether to do Top of the Rock or Empire State Building, asked about it in another thread a while ago and all the answers I received were clearly in favour of Empire State Building. Would you really say The Rock is better?
(sigh) Back to planning Stage One, then ... :rotfl2:

Oh, and absolutely do make a reservation for Palo brunch - it is wonderful!

WOW! Must be the busiest 24 hours in thread history!

Yep - and now we've all started, there's no stopping us! :thumbsup2

We will be sailing on this cruise too! Booked this May last year while on the Alaska cruise, but somehow failed to say hello on this thread until now. :) I'll actually be sailing with my mom on this one :)

paid in full earlier this week and have booked Palo brunch and dinner! ;)

When I researched it I found they said the lines for the Empire State building are very long. It also said the view from the top of the Rock is out of this world!
So I went with the Rock!

Hi everyone!

New fellow cruiser, just booked tonight. Celebrating DM(om)'s birthday on September 3rd. This will be our second cruise with DCL, and we're DVC.

I am DD, Nikkie, 25 at the time of sailing. Mom is celebrating her 50something'ed birthday onboard. We are native New Yorkers... we'll take the train to the port :)

We were just on the Magic to the Eastern Caribbean in April and just couldn't get enough. Also booked on the DVC Members Castaway Cay cruise in January 2013 with a stay at AKL beforehand.

Hope all is well, very excited to meet you all! Is there a Facebook group for us?

Nikkie, my dad's birthday is the same day! He'll be 63, though. And I'm 30. :) It's my first cruise, but he and my mom are regulars. Can't wait to meet you!

Nicole

Top of the Rock, for SURE. There's nothing like it, and it's great to be able to SEE the Empire State Building for a more iconic experience. You'll love it!

I can't wait!

Here's a couple pics from up top. Wish I had my wider lens with me but you get the idea.
