September 2, 2012 - Magic - NYC to Canada

Im 43 young :goodvibes >.... But if your asking who is under 18 no one.

Noted! Thanks!

1) Sil, thanks for taking on being the FE King for our trip!
2) I forgot to mention that I will be celebrating my 20th Anniversary of being a Survivor.
3) I did a count of this list on FB and there seems to be 21 rooms but on here there seems to be 20. Am I missing something?

Yes, I 2nd that request as my gifts are not just age specific but gender specific.

Thanks!

1) Your welcome
2) Congrats and I will note on the FE list
3) There are 19 members in 21 rooms participating in the FE and the lists on FB and here are in synch. The difference you see is likely one of the families that have two rooms.

I posted the following vote on FB and wanted you all to let me know please as well...

I'd be so grateful if you could help me out please. These cruises are my first official DIS meets. On the 9/12 cruise several of us mentioned how we really want to win a Spa Raffle that is usually at 3pm & they moved the meet to 2:30pm. I especially hope I win a much needed $120 massage as I do Physical Therapy for $20 1/week and a Massage Envy massage for $49 1/week b/c I've just had my 10th & 11th surgeries on 7/13 & 7/20. And 2 x $120 is double my budget for medical needs while on the Magic.

:flower3: 2:30 pm DISMeet Time (New Time Please)
:scared: 3:00 pm DISMeet Time (Original Time)

If it does start at 2:30pm it still could go to 3:45pm right before the Muster Drill. And that way it could accommodate all of us.

Your help on this is greatly appreciated! :thanks:

How does this sound? :scratchin

Dismeet at 2.30 sounds good to me! I wasn't aware the spa raffle was at 3.00, as I would definitely want to go there too. (Didn't win anything last time, but who knows, second time may be a charm! :thumbsup2)

Should we just have the DISmeet in the Spa? Lol

No, if you're all there I stand less of a chance of winning something! :thumbsup2
But jokes aside, if the majority of you is still in favour of meeting at 3.00, I'll be at the Promenade Lounge at 3.00 and give the raffle drawing a miss. I don't ever win anything, anyway. Ever.

Great, now I'm in a bad mood. :lmao:

Aw, bless your Tinky heart with a mound of pixiedust: I'm Gold and my mom is Silver. This is so special as this is her first Brunch and my 20th anniversary of being a cancer Survivor. So thank you!

We're being driven up from Baltimore, MD and have a check-in time of 11:30am. I think the line opens at the Rockin Bar at 1pm. If I get there 1st I can hold our spot in line. This is awesome! Are your friends in your cabin or on the other side of you where we are 3 neighbors in a row?

:thanks:

My friends are on Deck 2 but hoping for an upgrade. With DVC encouraging so many of us with their Verandah bargain I don't think that's going to happen though.

thank you for setting this up- would love to join you. My name is Kerry, my mom's name is Patricia and my daughter is Samiah (6 years old). If you were doing brunch in Palo I was going to put Samiah in the club but if its in Lumiere's I will bring her.

QUOTE=HopeSparkles;45624870]UPDATE: So, as it turns out the FB page already has many people doing Brunch in Palo and they reminded me that there are under 18 daughters on our list who wouldn't be able to attend if we were in Palo and therefore it will be at Lumiere's.

So, far I have Nikkie/Fran (2), Kristine Hennaman +2 (3), Wendy Liang/Mom (2), plus me and my mom for a total of 9. Head count will be important so that I can get a large enough table at the restaurant but not for the purpose of actually reserving like in Palo.

Please let me know your full names and stateroom number in case of any changes. Thanks and looking forward to having a Magical Mother Daughter Luncheon in Lumiere's! :cool1:

Please see above regarding Palo. We would still love to have you, your mom and daughter. If you would like to attend please just give me your full name and stateroom so I can add you to the list. Thanks! :goodvibes

Yes, I am patiently waiting for mine too! :rotfl2:[/QUOTE]

I saw threads about the 9/12 cruise and a meeting but not for the 9/2. I would love to join the meeting but wasn't sure if it was intended for the 9/2 cruise.

We got our documents. We took the GTY Verandah deal as well. Would love to have the room we had on the June cruise

We went on the first cruise to Canada and did book via Disney the tea party at St John. I am not sure if they upgraded anything in between that visit and now because there were an awful of Disney pple there with us. We took my 6.5 yr old daughter and my mom and was glad they had a very small petting zoo (about 6 animals) and three little houses at the gardens. Coming from NY the garden is nice but very small- you may want to check it out online to see if it would be enough to entertain you for about 2 hrs. Maybe we're just used to the gardens in NYC but we didn't think it was worth the long 1.5 hr bus ride each way.
Blue Bonnie was our tour guide and she was great but once we got past the falls there wasn't much to point out to us. Grandma, myself and my daughter all felt for the $$ charged that the tour wasn't for us and were particularly upset when we found the free Alice in Wonderland tea on the ship.

The adults that came with no children I think were even more bored. The kids could care less that Alice was there because they just wanted to run around. St Andrew on the Sea is a cute small town consisting of approx 4blocks of stores. We were given 45 mins to shop and I did pick up a beautiful china nightlight. I don't want to ruin anyone's tea party but we are definetly not going on that tour again. We're going to just walk around St John this time. hope this helps :grouphug:

Hi everyone! I just booked this cruise using the DVC discount. Unbelievable!!!:) I was actually on the Inaugural Cruise to Canada on June 10th and did it B2B with the June 10th Cruise to Nowhere.:cool1: So I've been to Canada and Nowhere and back so if anyone has any questions I'd be glad to answer. I haven't tackled the previous 30 pages but I might get around to that another day. This is my 11th cruise and Boy Am I Happy to be Platinum!!!I am also HAPPY the DCL is cruising out of NYC. If the Captain tells you to be sure to get up at 4:30am as we pass under the Verrazano Bridge be sure to do it. What a beautiful sight! NYC at night and all lit up. You won't be the only up either.:flower3: Karen

were you the couple who at breakfast at Animators on the last day? We were talking to Igor and he said a couple was coming back on for the cruise to nowhere. I heard that cruise was great! We're going on this cruise again as well.

Thanks so much Sil! :thanks:

Great, so we will start the DISMeet from 2:30-3:45 and those of who want to nip out for the Spa raffle can go & come back especially after I win one of the several prizes offered :rotfl:

No, I don't think so. When I spoke to the supervisor about the CM who put me in a 5A vs a 4A he said ALL verandahs for all 3 cruises from 9/2, 9/7 to 9/12 were all sold out. Sorry

Great! As of now it will be in Lumiere's. Are you on the FB group as well? I created an event there that you can reply as going. What is your room number in case there are any changes to date/time which still needs TBD. princess:

How did you find out about the Alice tea on the ship? Where do you sign up? :goodvibes

The onboard Alice tea party was listed in the Navigator the day before. You have to go to Customer Service and ask for the free tickets. It was so nice and kept very small and afterwards the kids could take pictures with Mr Time and Alice. My 6 yr old daughter still corrects me when I drink tea in that I have to put the pinky out like Alice did LOL!

I just joined the FB and put my name there as well indicating we were also known as 203sailingfrom CT to avoid any duplication. We are in the GTY Verandah catagory.
To that person who was told verandahs are sold out- don't believe it. They said the same thing on our June Canada cruise and I found out over 40 rooms were empty- they gave me such a hard time onboard when the Disney reservations pple messed up our room setup. We were supposed to get a drop down bunk bed. Only when I pushed it did we get the room and a nightly phone call from the supervisor asking if everything was ok. They made up for it but I had two customer service reps at the front desk tell me they were sold out!

Thanks for the info. That sounds like SO much fun. My dad is English and so I always stick my pinky out, lol! Also, my mom and I always did High Tea at Palo and they no longer do it so they can offer more Brunches. So I'm very interested in doing the Alice Tea! Did they have the Tea in Lumiere's? What did they serve other than tea? Sandwiches and deserts? :coffee:

It was me that explained that they are sold and I know it pretty much for a fact...

I had a rude CM who hung up on me on 7/12 when I was booking the DVC price verandah at $649 for all three sale sailings 9/2, 9/7 and 9/12 for a triple B2B2B. I called back and explained what happened to another CM who said she could help me. My mom is disabled and we would have preferred an Accessible room, but they only had one Deck 7 for cruise 1, Deck 6 for cruise 2 and none on cruise 3.

So she said I could have a regular verandah and then just plug the scooter in at the elevators if the bathroom would be fine for my mom which it is. I asked her if there was a room available in a cat 4A for all 3 cruises so that we wouldn't have to pack and she said that we wouldn't want 4A on deck 8 because of the noise levels from the pools and gym from the deck 9 right above deck 8 that would disturb my insomnia and my mom too. So, she suggested deck 7 in a cat 5A since it is just 2 of us and not a family of 5 which can fit in a 4A. Not having enough time to research as the call went past the closing of DCL and I had to pay before hanging up due to the sale, I took her on her word.

Then the next day I had surgery, 7/13, so I was unable to read the DISboard for several days. After reading the boards so many people were so excited that they got cat 4 on Deck 8 I felt so mislead by the 2nd CM I talked to and trusted. I called and spoke to a supervisor to get moved from a cat 5A to a cat 4 who then said that all the verandahs were sold out due to the DVC sale. I exclaimed even down to a cat 7A and he said all the verandahs on all 3 sailings were sold out by DVC members reserving them.

So, unless he mislead me too, there all gone. But since it's obvious that the standards of the Disney call center is slipping I guess it can't hurt for someone to ask for an upgrade at the terminal. Who knows maybe someone will have to cancel at the last minute or maybe that supervisor mislead me as well :confused3

The Alice Tea on the ship doesn't actually serve tea at all. From what I've heard, they serve juice or perhaps chocolate milk and maybe little snacks. It's a character experience targeted for children. I don't have kids, nor do I travel with any, so I can't give you first-hand information.

With the loss of the High Tea at Palo, I don't think there's any place on the ship to get an afternoon tea service with scones, tea sandwiches, etc. I do enjoy sitting up in the Cove Cafe, though, and having a nice cup of tea. They usually have pastries in the case there. On the Wonder, the cases were stocked with antipasti offerings in the evening.

Gradysmommy used to be on eBay where I have bought from her 3 times. She makes the most beautiful and professional looking FEs I've ever seen! Due to a tip I believe from Barb I found out she has since stopped selling on eBay and is now on Etsy... Enjoy! pixiedust:

This is the most reputable vendor that I still deal with on eBay when planning any DCL/WDW trips. Even though it is a Grab Bag they try to find pins that I need to complete a series or pins that I request like Sorcerer Mickey, Tink, DVC, DCL, etc. I just bought 20 legitimate Disney pins for $19.49 with FREE Express Shipping. I don't know them personally but have bought from them 5 times before even while staying at the Contemporary where I ran out of pins before my Dream cruise last November. I just love sharing great deals and thought you all would like to know. In fact this makes a great FE idea if anyone still needs one. Enjoy! pixiedust:

Thanks for the heads up. So sad as we really enjoyed the High Tea  We don't have children either. But I wonder about the food at the Alice Tea Party as I organized a Luncheon for 5 new friends I met on the Disney Wonder's Repo 2011 Panama Canal Cruise to be part of the Princess Tea Party. They gave the females of all ages a pink sash that I think said Princess Tea Party which we had all the Princesses autograph. The boys of all ages received a sword. They had tea along with the normal beverages, sandwiches and deserts. No scones but it was still a great party. princess:

Super excited to be going on this cruise. We went to Alaska last year on the wonder. This will be our DD first time to meet Mickey:cool1:
