My DH took the kids camping and left the house at 9:42 am this morning. By 11:00 am, I had booked the cruise. See what happens when I am left alone!

Hello old and new friends.

I was going to PM you and tell you that you needed to come! If I don't go get certified, Robert wants to know if he still has a dive buddy!

Deb, I know you can use points and cash. No clue as to how it may effect your current reservation, I would venture to guess that you would have to rebook with points and cash, then cancel your current cash reservation.

I have no idea as to how many points this will take. One good thing is that this sailing is off season. So they might not be that bad.

A possible idea would be to rent your points and use the $$$ for your cruise. Some folks think this is a good way to go. Personally I haev never rented points and don't want the hassel, that is just me, as others have had great luck in doing so.

When I converted our "cash" reservation to "points" at the 11 month window for the 10 day Christmas Cruise, here is what happened with Member Services.

I had to book a new reservation with MS. I told them when I called that I already had a cash reservation that I wanted to cancel. I told them I wanted the same stateroom that I had already booked. So while on the phone with DCL, MS talked to them. DCL moved my room number on my cash reservation to another available stateroom and then told MS that I needed to call immediately and cancel my cash ressie after I hung up phone with MS. I used points for Robert and I and then paid cash for Jamie (DD 13). You just have to use points for the 1st person. You can pay cash for any others in the same stateroom. Just remember, when you use points and are using cash in the same stateroom, MS makes you pay 100% up front with cash. (Used my Disney VISA).

The only thing was at the 11 month window, there were no "main" seatings left for dinner. Since we had 13 of us on the cruise and the grandkids needed main, I had no choice but to wait list us for the main. However, we were all still linked with DCL with our reservations and I kept checking back with DCL on the kids reservations. About 35 days out the wait list came through for the main seating, so everything worked out fine.

When I hung up with MS, I called DCL and cancelled my original reservation. I didn't want to take a chance at not having a reservation in case the points didn't work out at the 11 month window.

Robert will always be my dive buddy. Linda, you will be too busy with your scrapbook prep to become certified. I imagine you will spend the next 13 months planning new pages for us. I am hoping to move up from the remedial scrapbook group this time.

I had another thought, we need new stuff to buy. Where is our shopping expert Regina?

Is anyone compiling a list of those? If not once I get back I'll ask everyone for thier input. Please don't tell me now or it's likely to get packed for the repo!
