Celeste... you need to read the get to know you section.... :sunny:

Debbie

I think I saw that part- I was trying to figure who was in the photo with you. Opps- did I just type that? (Atleast I thought that was you in the photo- maybe I'm totally lost.)

I wish you would go- maybe the natural disasters will be less abundant in 2006? I was sitting on the couch tonight watching television lamenting the fact that May was coming and a cruise was not. However, I will be in Anaheim in May for a nursing convention. I don't think I will go to DL by myself, but I WILL shop at DTD by myself.

Any other nurses going to AACN's NTI? Maybe I should start a thread???? :hyper2:

IMonso - did you receive a copy of the newsletter that Tracy does?

Nope, not yet. I've tried looking for them all and have asked a couple of places but nada as of yet

hope to get something soon, hear they are just swell

We are looking at possibly the Port Orleans Riverside since there are 5 in our party. Anyone else thinking about staying at a disney resort or are there better options?

tks!!

My guess would be that a majority of folks will be staying at a WDW resort before and even after the cruise. We are at OKW before and after, that is the best option for us. Rental car to get to and from the Port, we like Avis, works for us. Cause you never know who you will meet at Avis.

We will be staying on property before- probably Pop Century and we used DVC points to stay at the Contemporary after from Thursday through Sunday. We might use the meal plan now offered to DVC members after the cruise- I always feel that I am going into shock from low blood sugar after leaving the constant food on the cruise and thought the meal plan might help with that. :rotfl2:

We too will probably rent a car to get to the port- I don't like waiting for the bus to take us to the ship....TAKES too long from the resorts. From the airport it is okay because they leave in a constant stream but the resorts have scheduled times and the wait is WAY too long- you miss out on all of the good stuff. However, reservations via internet for Palo and the spa have helped.

DH and I are staying at OKW the night before the cruise. We travel Friday evening so will stay by the airport somewhere and then go to OKW in the morning. We are heading home after the cruise

We haven't decided yet what to do. Since we live locally it is a bit easier for us! I like to go down to the port the night before, but it isn't a big deal if we don't. We will probably stay on property after the cruise from Thursday - Sunday, but haven't decided where yet.

So, is there a roster for us?

Kelly

Hi all,
We just got back from our crazy-east coast, west coast, english hols' trip. Us girls enjoyed our back-to-back on the Wonder although the weather on the second stint was a bit on the chilly side! We had some problems with immigration, some people said we could stay on board but then they decided to kick us off. Then they could n't figure out when to let us off. It was kind of OK because we met my husband at the terminal but there was a lot of messing us around while they figured out what to do with us.
130 CMs left the ship as they had finished their contracts. I hope we see many of them coming back in September as they really were a great bunch. The Flounders staff were exceptional on this voyage.
It was fantastic to get a sneaky peek of the Wonder before the 11 nighter - can't wait to be back onboard!

Celeste, you could always plan to meet some of your fellow DISer's while at DLR. I'd love to meet a fellow cruiser before Sept. I think Stephen, Tony and Adrienne could be talked into having dinner one night, if you're available.
Any other So Cal cruisers interested in an inforaml get-together, to welcome Celeste to DLR?

We got a great rate using Thrifty AND they have a free shuttle to the port. I called the Cape Canaveral office to double check before making ressies. This time National can't come close to the Thrify rates. :(

Kitster, not familiar with Thrify at the Port. Avis also offers a shuttle and at WDW it is easy for us to drop the car at the Hilton. Curious, is there a thrifty location at WDW? Alamo , sadly just two many bad experiences with them, basically waiting two hours in line to get a car.

Kelly, there was a roster and I know not where it went. Tony had it on his site.

Cruzincricketts, sounds like you guys had a great trip. Someday we will get to do a back to back. That would be fun. I thought, or have heard, the transition was a no hassle just stay on the boat thing.

Scott, ours isn't techinically a back to back. I think the transition could be a hassle, but I can't wait!! Airfare only once!!

It will be worth it.

I think for most people it really is a no hassle thing. The difficulty came about because I &my oldest daughter are non-Us citizens. Although we have green cards and are resident aliens (what happened to the alien smilie?) and my other 2 DDs are US cits we can not stay on board. The problem was some guest services staff thought we could stay onboard and sent us info to recheck-in onboard @ 11.45. We did get the benefit of staying onboard until 10.00 which is when I thought I had better check to see I could check-in a bit early. That is when I was told I had to get off now. We were unprepared and our luggage was being sent from one room to another and inaccessible. We went to deck 3 exit and was told to come back at 11.00, then 11.30 then told we should get off at deck 1, then 3 again, then we had to wait for security to come and get us. In that time we one daughter had an "accident" and another DD a dirty diaper and we were all in swim gear, but we had to disembark anyway. Lucky DH had a few supplies with him in the terminal building  .

Onboard there is not much to do as EVERYTHING is closed you can't even get a drink. If you do this make sure you have snacks and drink. Also a camera because you get the best photos!
It was too cold to go on deck 9 or 10 (unusually bad weather) but it would be great to spend that day sunbathing. U.S. citizens would have a simple transition on back-to-back cruises.

Thanks for the offer! I would appreciate it. I do know Tony and & Adrienne somewhat- so it would be a fun time. I am also thinking of starting a thread on the boards in a month of so- to see if there are fellow Disers who are critical care nurses.

Oh Pirate Pete-
well...that is how many miles it is from my house to WDW- roughly. There is another thread that people do this as a goal- no I won't be literally walking there- I just have the goal to walk that many miles before our cruise! I want to get in shape and train for the marathon next year. (and for the non-marathon on the cruise...a marathon done vacation style...)

C

Interesting, thanks for the explanation. Sounds like a little bit of a hassel, due to confusion,, but you weathered it well. I bet you were glad DH was there with supplies.

I think it would be pretty neat to kinda be alone on the ship during the transition. I would think if one could keep the same stateroom that would be better. The wheels of my little planning brain are working.

Hey all,

I finally got a chance to post. As kitster can vouch for, it has been a very long and stressful couple of months. While business was good, we really got overwhelmed. To the point, that I haven't even had a chance to read the thread.

The roster has been fixed, and will be updated in the next couple of days. If you aren't listed, please PM or email me (phoenixa@gmail.com).

One funny thing to come out of out Thanksgiving Family Reunion cruise, several family members have booked placeholder cruises - waiting for the Med cruises to be announced. So - a lot of my family are now hooked on Disney cruising.
