Welcome aboard Angelgurl to U and your family/cabin mates!

I don't suppose you've noticed the reference posting summarizing the basic DIS things we're doing on page 1? Plus - if I might bring your attention to this conisderation ... (here it comes ... again) ... have you ever wondered how fast you could eat a Mickey Ice Cream Bar? How about when compared to a dozen or two fellow DIS enthusiasts all bent on the same goal... eating a Mickey Bar quick... er, rather quicker than everyone else gathered at that!!! Yeah... one of the zany diversions we have organized is a Mickey Ice Cream speed eating Challenge on this sailing. I am the organizer of this side show and as such - we have two competitive catagories ... the over and under age 15 groups. AND our awards consist of the fabled - exotic - rare and clearance priced DIS Green Bubba Mug for 1st place finishers in each competitive catagory! Plus a award certificates signed by the Captain of the WONDER for the top dozen or two competitors too! AND for preregistrants - the award certificates will be nicely personalized!

SO... what do ya think? Ya wanna toss your "gauntlet" into the fray and sign up you or your SO cabin mate - or if you're bringin' kids.... why not sign THEM up for the challenge? A DIS Green Bubba Mug is up for grabs to the winners! Space is limited. When the WOnder runs out of Mickey Bars we cannot take any more competitors!!!! :lmao:

I am just reading through the post on page 1 right now.
I want to thank you for the offer but I am NOT good ice Ice Cream in limited quantities so I think that a Mickey Ice Cream Bar eating contest will not turn out too good.

I will ask DH though.

Okay, Captain Crash...wanting to make sure that you have my little guy (Age 4) down for the under 6 category. I know you have my hubby down for the...well...older crowd.

Waz Happin' Capin'?

Hey Bob... (or Lee?)...

it's been a slow day out here! All we did was turn in our rental car and have this HUGE BUFFETT with seafood, sushi, and sort of a lot of Japanese food. It was nice - but boy wuz I stuffed. And then we came back to the hotel - we were going to meet the rest of the family for an afternoon at Waikiki beach but everyone wuz runnin' about like a pack of wild indians attacking an undermanned fort!

WESTFRT1.JPG

Meaning "I" was manning the fort. So the kids are now in semi-time out with a forced nap... and we are likely to miss the beach thing. Plus - there's a dinner thing coming up in an hour and 20 minutes - so this leaves little time for the beach AND cleaning up for dinner. I'm wacked for today anyways... and we hardly did anything except eat and talk over a long lunch.

SO.... what's up on your end of the country? :confused3

Dulce is an edible, salty seaweed found in the ocean that has been dried. We have purchased it in New Brunswick. Chicken bones are usually in the stores at Christmas. They are pink candies filled with chocolate and made by Ganongs. I think Creton might be exclusively Canadian also.

DULCE....

Is this what DUlce looks like? What does it taste like? Off hand it looks rather alien to me - and as such would be exciting to try! ;)

YUP.....

.... first names as listed on the roster for award certificates. AND WE COULD STILL ADD some competitors! Especially among the yonger folks. If we do get enough young folks then I'd like to break the under 15 group into two smaller competitive catagories to give the little ones a chance to win - as a 14 year old can probably eat a Mickey bar faster than a 4 year old! Well --- even if we had just 5 or 6 who were about age 4-6 we would break out that group to copete seperately - so we're not looking for a huge number of young competitors - just enough to constitute a competitve quorum of say 5 or more.

At any rate... yeah... it's gonna be fun - a real spectical to remember for zany side shows you've not seen before on a DIS / DCL sailing! :thumbsup2

OK angelgurl...

... if your DH would like to come out and compete - remember it's all in good fun... he's not expected to actually win - just sit and make a RUN FOR THE MONEY is all! Plus put on a good competitve smirk as he gets photographed by everyone!! Alternatively, make your calandar to come by and just shout cheers and jeers at the competitors... or rather cheers and encouragement for the young ones competiting!!!!

Oh yeah... and since I might miss a posted acceptance - please send me a PM to confirm if competing. Can't miss that!!! Oh yeah... I need a first name or full name to imprint on the award certificate in advance.

Cheers! :thumbsup2

Don't worry my boy isn't out for the win, just for the Mickey Ice Cream Bar!!! ;) :goodvibes Of course it going to be fun especially with you running the show! :teeth:

I'm jealous of you in Hawaii. We were suppose to go to Hawaii this year for our 10th anniversay. It was my BIL and SIL 20th - but BIL didn't want to pay the big bucks for the First class tickets - he wouldn't go coach. :lmao: And, we were going to go First Class (skymiles, baby). Now, we are working on doing a cruise out of LA to Hawaii for next year, the cost for First Class for him won't be so bad to LA. Too bad Disney doesn't go there. :sad2:

It sounds like you are enjoying yourself!

Wow, I go and spend some time with my grandkids and come back to over 100 pages to catch up on. Finally caught up last nite and tried to post but my computer crashed and wouldn't me. Had it all typed and when I hit send my computer crashed. Tonite I come home and our :happytv: is out. :confused3 Wonder if there are gremlins running around here.
No upgrade for us either, :sad2: We got assigned cabin 2135. Funny, I kept telling everyone that I was probably going to get a "lifeboat suite" well from the looks of where this room is, any further back and we would be outside the boat. :rotfl2:
Tracy you asked how many kids had signed up for the Secret Mickeys. I have 6 names. Come on everyone, sign those kids up!!
Bob, we will be heading down your way tomorrow. Gotta go see that granbaby who lives in Indy. It's been about a month since I've seen him and I gotta get me some  :love2:
Got our stuff from cafepress yesterday. Pretty cool stuff. Now all I gotta do is figure out what I'm gonna pack. :confused3 I can't wait for this cruise!! Dan and I both need to get away for a while. Work is a bear for both of us right now. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!! Have a great weekend everyone.

Well - I still have YET to catch up on things here! With another 9 days to go of travel I am almost expecting to see 14,000 postings by then!!! And then I'd need everyday til Sept 17th to try amd catch up.... (sigh).... :confused3 But I'll try!
Yeah, but you have an excuse. You're traveling, doing family things, and (iirc) you're on dial-up! :rotfl:

Me? I come home from work, grab dinner with the wife, then veg in front of the computer! :badpc: :surfweb:

:lmao: Right now my brain feels like PIT's transmission...........all gears stripped, no forward momentum. In fact, I think I left it laying on the counter at work today, I'll find out tomorrow when I return. Corwin warnd me about changing thought process direction too drastically.....Too bad my boss never heard of that. :lmao: :rotfl2:

That would work if it were ours! :) But thank GOD it's our company's. If it were our truck we would be crying because we would have to make a payment on a broken down truck. It is warranty work and because of that Eaton-Fuller (who makes the transmission) has to check out EVERY LITTLE THING before they just go and replace a transmission. :confused3 They have a 72 hr rule (our company) after 72 hrs they rent us a car to drive to our terminal to get a new truck. This guy is saying he will get it fixed sooner that that so hopefully we will get out of here soon. I stay optimistic! :goodvibes I think we are going to find a theater tonight if we are stuck and catch a movie. I still want to see Monster House. :3dglasses Or I would go see POC2 again to get me in the mood to cruise! pirate:
PIT ... you posted yours msg at 11:01 am, so I'm hoping my msg finds you on the road. :moped:

I suppose that, in light of what it COULD be, a 72-hour wait isn't too bad. Hopefully you are already on the road! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

PIT- Cute proposal story....My DH proposed on a street corner in the diamond district in Boston.
Witch one :confused3 :lmao:
Which 'corner' or which 'husband'? :rotfl2: :lmao: :duck: :duck: :duck: <gd&r>

And I'm not even gonna touch the 'witch' vs. 'which'! :teeth: :cool1:

Finally got all set up here outside. Been a bad week.

Tomorrow's got to be better. Then there's the weekend.

Worse thing that happened was that a friend of mine and my boss was let go after 32 years with the company. Not because of work performance. Just because it was a financial decision. His replacement makes half as much. Less benis too. :sad2:

FiredAnts.jpg

I know what you mean.... we've been through this once before for other reasons... and the story of your friend is no different then we've herard for others. AND it is a serioius matter when it is YOU or someone close. A lot changes - and sometimes it is HUGE. We used to maintain a modest profile as we socked away nuts for rainy days - or potential tornadoes and such.

I might offer some thoughts though... that sometimes the change in employment sometimes is the catalyist for major improvements too. I can think of a couple examples to consider... one being my father. During the Korean War it was not a popular thing to be a Chinese Engineer in the US aerospace industry. My Dad was passed over and often among those not retained when he was one of the few with an advanced (applied) degree and real experience compared to others without. And after a few rounds of what he felt was a lousy employment environment he took his savings and opened a small business. After 25 years at it he had several 8 figure years and conclusively proved that it was good economicly to have left the aerospace industry.

In another instance - one of my neighbors recently shared his story of having left the VC startup he had been with for the last half decade. Now he is in his own business and doing great. Not entirely out of the woods - but otherwise going on an Alaskan cruise in about a week - and talking about being able to shift address to a swanky part of our neighborhood where the real entertainment celebrities live... although he also claims to not wanna leave our neighborhood (because of nice neighbors like me and my spouse! LOL!). SO - his being squeezed from the VC company he was at gave rise to a new business for him and it's been good!

Give your friend some time to sort through his options. Just wait and see.... as I'm sure he is resourceful, productive, agile and possessed of ambition. So he will find his "path"... and it will be a good one.... if not a far superior one! Adversity is often the Mother of opportunty and cousin of .... better things... eh? I just made that up - someone go get me a literary agent ... maybe I can publish a book or get a publisher to advance me something for a book! :thumbsup2
