Announcement

Tracy has been kind enough to volunteer to pay for ALL of our dinners on Saturday night before the cruise at Whispering Canyon. And Kevin and I have taken it upon ourselves to cover all meals between september 17th-september28th (minus cruise costs, alcohol, and gratuity of course) Please make your way to Whispering Canyon on Sept 16th at 9:40pm and when the bill comes, charge it to WINO TRACY

Did you see the quote PIT??? It says that you are paying for all DRINKS on the cruise, not dinners. Careful with your announcement or this is going to be one expensive cruise

Tom, the pics of Hawaii look beautiful. That's somewhere I hope to visit one day in the near future.

If you get ATA into a hub near you - then they often have pretty attractive "package" deals. Also Pleasant Hawaiian has impressive off-peak hotel/air packages too! But I have to confess... this trip we're on is a pretty cheap stay... our air is via a spiff my DS got for working a little too effectively, and half our stay was at a $1600 a week hotel across the street from Waikik which we got on eBay for $315! And this was in replacement of a 5 day stay we had booked for $450 at a conventional reservation site! So - our out of pocket on major expenses is about $75 for air booking fees, $315 for 1 week hotel, $180 for a week of car rental, and an uindertermined amount for food, fuel, and incindentals. We tend to do low or zero cost diversions - like local and distant beaches, pay for beaches like Haunuma Bay, all the stuff around Waikiki... and of course... really great "local" food of all sorts. Even after 20 years visiting here (my MIL is 4th generation Chinese from Hawaii) we actually have a magical time every time... in spite of my mild grumblings that I don't "get to be a tourist" here.

So - if you want a list of great "locals' restuarants" and food sources of all kind (the BEST shave ice, the best confections, places to get cracked seed, and ethnic cuisine <Japanese and Korean> on the island. And maybe other tips and pointers depending on your interests.

Just remember to PM me when you're planning a stay!

And this the LAST call for Grass skirts if anyone wants to join the GSF but lacks the "equipment"... you can get it authenthicly here - but I gotta know today to have a chance at gettin' it late tonight or tomorrow. Please PM me with your waist size, green or natural grass, coco nut bra or fabric, and expect a cost under $8 ea set.
