September 17, 2006 - 11 Night Southern Caribbean Part 2

Ok, i have a question.....I really don;t want to take up additional time and setup a separate day/time just to take this picture so I wanted to get your thoughts on what DISevent would be the best for this photo opp..

A. Sail-a-way (think this might be too early)
B. PJ Breakfast (think this event has the highest turnout count)
C. DISLuncheon @ Parrot Cay
D. Ice Cream Bar contest (this might have a good turn out due to the spectator value)
E. Perhaps bbq place on CC (is everyone going to bring them down?...dunno)

any other well attended events I may be missing?

Maybe we'll just take photos at each one and then pick the best one.

Or perhaps even some roving Bubba photo-opps around the ship so you never know when you might get caught on film, hmm that could be fun, let's see what mischief Bubba is up to...

Well....

Just as a thought... I could move the ICE CREAM thing (as I've already been thinking to do anyway) and instead of being on the topsiders deck above the ice cream - why not have it where we ran it last time - in the promenade lounge? There is certainly MORE capacity - it's always empty in the middle of the day (I'll make sure it's not in use on the day and time we're to run the race) - it's AIR CONDITIONED - and lots of comfortable seating and such. Like last time I had guest services approve my use of the lounge and they DELIVERED all the Micky Bars as requested. Only - I did not get a character to visit and semi-officiate as I wanted. I guess that was wishful thinking on my part.

ANd another big plus - taking pictures indoors with flash as opposed to outdoors in the harsh sun is BETTER. That is especially true if you have a powerful external flash on a DSLR like I do. SO ... whether or not we do a BUbba mug shot here - I think I'm about to announce a venue change. I'm still waiting for a dramatic drum roll.... Oh yeah... I'll be awarding "special" Bubba mug trophies to the catagory winners.

And on the Bubba Mug photo - I thought we already HAD some thinking going on where to have the Bubba Mug Photo. IE - I vaguely recall seeing some mention of this in the past.

AND... I must be missing something about the PJ BK thing. I thought everything about that was under control already and sailing smoothly? How is it threatened?

Actually, sort of a sad day anyway because I figured out if I booked today for the same category I would pay LESS than what I did when I booked it a year ago! Except maybe I have some cabin credits that I would loose so possibly it would even out.

Our flights Came down $160.00 in price, and I got the Credit Last Night !
At the same time I Adjusted the departure Flight to a more suitable time.

Had to pay the change fee ! it is less if you do it on line but I was on the phone so just had her take care of it !
so we ended up saving about 100 bucks or so .

That is always what I thought but not so with the cat 10's on this cruise. The cost of our cruise never was more than $50.00 than what we paid.

Peter - I booked with a TA so unless she can secure the same room credits then I may be better off keeping what I have. But, I did ask her via an email but have not received a response as yet.

We are flying on FF miles and a free ticket from a bump last Thanksgiving so I won't be seeing any credits from Northworst.

It WILL be better tomorrow because it won't be Monday anymore!

Why, You ask, Elaine worked really hard on doing this sort of thing on another cruise! and all her Efforts, kinda got Ruined ! with The Pin Fiasco !

I just know that if the price has gone down DCL has honored the lower price in the past !

Everything is set with the PJ Breakfast. I don't think there would be a problem taking a picture after, outside of the restaurant, but in the restaurant is not appropriate. Not threatened, just not appropriate.

SAY ....

Call DCL NOW.... and explain that todays' rate is LESS than what you booked loyaly a year ago - and you would like a COURTESY ADJUSTMENT. Do it now and be polite but slightly firm. SLIGHTLY FIRMas if PRESUMING it can and should be done. If no go - call again tomorrow and try again while NOT ADMITTING you called yesterday. My understanding is this should be routine as not everyone notices whether the rate has dropped yet - and I wonder if this is negated by the fact we're all fully paid for at this point and inside the cancelation penalty period.

GO call now. If you are shy about doing it - PM me and I'll do a conference call (3 way) with DCL on the line to request it for you. I have considerable background in telecom work as most of my communications in business are that way. In fact - I'm runnin' a telemarketing survey personally for my SIL who is trying to get her medical practice off in a different direction and her marketing is sort of lame and floundering badly... so just last nite I ran some calls for her and won some business (potentially) for her. I would say last nite I nabbed up to $5000 in revenue for her. Less expenses and overhead - it's a nice bit of change - and my effort was donated (as usual).

So call in confidance! GO get your money back!

Aww shucks...

My spouse and I don't really drink liquor - and our younger child needs flounders time if we're to attend as young ones are frowned upon attending the wine things. So we can't include any of the kids in a Bubba shot (as if we actually WANT our kids in any web images, eh?)...

SO... I don't know whats' best. Any of our images can appear on line. And further - I'd say it IS self serving to my ego as well as the winners to have a bubba SHot of our Ice Cream Race winners with the Bubba Mug fans in their web page... maybe.

Maybe the most diplomatic would be to just stage a Bubba Mug photo shot all by itself. But it does offer some convenience to mix/link 2 things together as DIS things since we do have a cruise to enjoy - ya know - character meeting and Mickey pool swimmin' an all!

Seriously - it does not matter to me either way. I think it might be fun to pick 2 or 3 photo opps and sort of declare that all DIS gatherings will have a Bubba Mug photo op... why not, eh? and we submit them all and let the Bubba people decide how to award a web posting. Shoot - someone might score more Bubba stuff that way!

Aside from that - hoz it going folks on this otherwise beautiful Monday? I'm about to wander off a bit with the kids....

Today when I showered I had cut my ankle. It's always the same spot. I didn't think anything about it, until I noticed bloody footprints all over my bedroom carpet and bathroom.

Before I thought about having to clean it up, I thought it reminded me of a crime scene. Who knew a little cut could bleed so much...
