Ok, i have a question.....I really don;t want to take up additional time and setup a separate day/time just to take this picture so I wanted to get your thoughts on what DISevent would be the best for this photo opp..

A. Sail-a-way (think this might be too early)
B. PJ Breakfast (think this event has the highest turnout count)
C. DISLuncheon @ Parrot Cay
D. Ice Cream Bar contest (this might have a good turn out due to the spectator value)
E. Perhaps bbq place on CC (is everyone going to bring them down?...dunno)

any other well attended events I may be missing?

Maybe we'll just take photos at each one and then pick the best one.

Or perhaps even some roving Bubba photo-opps around the ship so you never know when you might get caught on film, hmm that could be fun, let's see what mischief Bubba is up to...

OK all - my turn to ask for good wishes on a speedy recovery. I have been rather quiet these last 2 weeks as I have been battling gallbladder attacks. Well as it turned out I had to have it removed on Friday. Didn't plan on it but turned out that way. After 3 attacks within 3 weeks my doctor threatened to blackball me from going on this cruise.

Advances in medicine are amazing, I was rushed into surgery and was out within 1/2 hr. However, it was the reaction to the anesthesia that kept me in the hospital - well that along with low blood pressure - until late that evening. See I told you all that I have bad reactions to anesthesia. Except... I have to say that the advances in medicine will never cease to amaze me. When I told the dr that I ALWAYS reacted violently and was nauseated by the anesthsia, he gave me something to stop the nausea. While I'm happy I may no longer be in pain from having some of my favorite foods, I am in pain from the incisions. Whoever said that the pain wasn't that bad - LIED! LOL. I am in more pain from the dr imposed house arrest than the actual pain...... well ok I lied! The pain is actually tolerable but the no lifting for 10 days along with the no driving is going to kill me!!!! As my husband and kids can tell you - I am not the kind to sit still for long. The only time I allow myself to sit still and not feel any guilt is when I am on vacation - and on sea days only! Ergo - I will probably be a regular fixture on these boards and ebay for the next 7 days! And with my dr's permission - so long as I don't go driving to any shops! Told my DH that I had to listen and obey my dr's orders -

Well if any of you have any suggestions on how to make this H-E- double hockey sticks prison time go any faster - I"m all . So far I've burned the batteries on my Tetris (record of 555 lines with over 51,000+ points. Soduko became boring after my highest solving rate of 3:20 seconds (only to have my DH beat me on his 2nd time playing - so I gave up) and I can't even do laundry or walk my babies as they tend to walk me. I have to work on that! the smallest one (38 #) is the worst one to walk - she has the body of a runt but the brute strength of a bulldog. Heck how am I going to walk them when I need help getting into and out of beds, chairs and can't even go up the stairs without stopping for 10 minutes after 2 steps? Although I 'have been encouraged to walk' as it helps prevent bloods clots. Hey does this mean that I may have my own guardian nurse on this ship? If so - have to tell my dr as he may ok cruise (yeah right as if I'd listen to him ) Oh well, enuf for now.

SO much of what you're describing here sounds like ME when I'm knocked off for any length of time. And otherwise - other elements of your sharing sound like my spouses' condition as well - such as the vulnerability to anestesia... and the DIS and Ebay things for me.

And as for the possible ideas on how to pass the incarceration... I'm not too sure about possible solutions. FOr me - it's a DVR or my Star Trek DVD collection that could pass some time - but more so just wandering over the web to pursue non-DIS and non-EBAY things... but it seems to me you are denied even simple forays to the local park with your kids. And as such - you need to simply heal 1st and complain later. IE, do your time. It's not as if it's for-ever or even a month. But over doing it could bring on the ... unexpected. SO - I would dig up a good book - or browse the web for one or two - and start on that. Because I believe it is rest that you need more than ESCAPE from insanity threatening restrictions. That make any sense? I hope this came across OK.

Seeing as you've got ME beat (probably) on Tetris (I never played it much but if I had the time I'd probably get addicted until my neck and wrists got sore from playing it!)... and on the Soduku game - I never even heard of it til now. Amazing eh? I had to google it to see what it was... and it looks like fun so I'll now have YOU to blame after I've lost what-ever time thats soon to vanish after I return to examine it closer. Thanks. And for the record... I don't like taking admonishments or instruction from anyone either - Doctor or Judge makes no difference... even though a number of relatives are "all seeing" MDs and surgeons and such. So - I see the non-professional side of several (14 boards spread among 6 MDs)... so I can safely say they are indeed regular people like everyone else! As such... I wuz thinkin' maybe I could get a rebel rousing tattoo some time declaring the "Don't Tred on Me" thing for all to uncover! Arrrgh - Arrrgh ARRRR!!!!!

Aside from that - is calling one of those medical taxis services and getting a wheel chair an option? Hit the town - and so on. With kids and no escort - I think it's not a wise option or... even possible for that matter. EVEN IF you think you're ready - maybe it's best to take another day of rest (just as extra icing on the cake of recovery). SO stay put - slow down - and recover completely! And while sidelined... post like crazy - with color and flair while you troll through eBay for every odd and end you never had time to find otherwise. Did you REALLY want to collect rare tea cup sets?... now may be the time to start! Good friends of ours DO collect tea cup sets - many found on eBay - and their collection covers the walls of almost every room in their 4500 sq foot home in SB! That's a lot of tea cups - and of course, we've brought back some nice additions to their collection from the UK. Odds and ends we found in places difficult to wiggle into otherwise.

OK here - went to p1 post 5 and tried to let aphoenix know about my UPGRADE!!!!! ( ) but my outlook mail doesn't work (worse yet - I don't know how to make it work) I'm techno-phobic and can't figure out these new-fangled computers. Now I'm forced to hunt down aphoenix name and pm him unless someone can guide me as to locating him via this thread. Any help would be appreciated.

WE GOT OURS DOCS!!!!!!! DH played USPS guy. Best of all - WE GOT AN UPGRADE!!!!!!

Now who do I notify on our newest room? I know I know - check p1 post 5 - will go there directly to check it out. I was hoping in the back of my mind but didn't hold out hope because we were already on deck 7 with a verandah. Now we have deck 8 aft with a verandah (8576) anyone travel in that part before? We usually travel on inside down low as DH gets sea AND plane AND train AND car - see the theme here? That's why I get my jollies just about any clean way that I can (trying not to leave myself open to anything there )

Anyway, we have found success in DARK rooms for sleeping and not windoows or verandahs - and down low seems to calm the movement of the ship for DH's seasickness. However, this will be our 1st time with a verandah/balcony (is there a difference?) on DCL and I can give thanks to my son for that one. He insisted on traveling with one this time and as he thinks that this was his gift for graduation/nomination at school - I had to comply with his wishes. I did a 3-day to Mexico once on Carnival and we were on deck 8 - I remember I got a little queasy too but once I fell asleep - I was fine. Yippeeee! I can now!

Congrats Laura and everyone else getting documents today We've always been on Deck 6 or 7 aft, but once deck 6 midship. Loved it. I did get seasick once, but didn't properly prepare. The other time was with Hurricane Hillary last August and being in our room midship we were totally fine.

I like the idea of taking pictures at each of these events. And Tropical and Pirate night too.

You'll have to forgive me, I'm not familiar with the pin fiasco...

I would not even think of ruining someone else's event, i was just thinking of a time when a large group of DiSers would be together....

I should have added that I'd suggest the picture would be taken after the event for example or maybe just walk around from table to table (if done during a dining event) or after the Ice Cream bar challenge and take pictures and then photoshop them into one big picture of our group....

again i would not want to ruin anyone';s plans, which is really why I didn't want to setup yet another meet because people will have other plans etc and it would be difficult to get a large group together

Actually, sort of a sad day anyway because I figured out if I booked today for the same category I would pay LESS than what I did when I booked it a year ago! Except maybe I have some cabin credits that I would loose so possibly it would even out.
