Bluewaves, GREAT PICS! Ok, now I really want to go. Do they bring you hot chocolate instead of margaritas? :lmao: Your dh looks FREEZING!! Beautiful pics.

Am I the only one that doesn't have my pirate costume yet? I am having trouble finding one and everytime I find one for dh he doesn't like it

Good night all.. I think I've done my posting duty for the day.... see ya'll in the morning...

Ok, maybe we'll spare ya from the plank! pirate: pirate: I met my dh on the phone  I was a hairdresser and one of my clients' husband was a truck driver and was driving team with my dh. She kept telling me that there was this guy she wanted me to talk to. I'll admit that when I found out he was a truck driver my first thought was NO WAY! She finally convinced me to talk to him and we talked ALL NIGHT LONG the first night. Two months and a BIG phone bill later for him, we decided to meet. We had never even seen pictures of each other, but were both very much in love. We both knew after that 1st night on the phone we had something. When he came into the salon to meet me, I hid in the back to make him think the girl I worked with that had the spiky mullet and the nose ring and the scary makeup was me!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I think he almost passed out!
Good Luck on you    When it happens you just know! My whole family thought I was crazy for quitting my job and going on the road with him but here we are! Almost 5 years later :woohoo: :woohoo: It takes a special person to live with you on a truck 24/7 let me tell ya! He's crazy. When we are out to dinner he tells the waitress that we just met in a cab, on a plane, on the street, etc. What a nut!

Great story, PnT! Harry and I met through a Disney fan email list. He posted that he was going on the westbound repo cruise and wanted to correspond with others who were going on it. I was, so I emailed him back. We knew from the start we had a lot in common. We emailed for awhile, then started chatting with IM. We exchanged pictures. We planned our excursions together, but just as friends. We met in person for the first time at the DCL terminal in Port Canaveral, on my 55th birthday (Harry was 61 then) on May 14, 2005. Within a week, we were in love   and planning all sorts of trips together. That cruise was like a fairy tale come true for me. :wizard:

Since he's retired, he is able to fly out here and visit me fairly often. This last visit was the longest time we've ever spent together and I worried that we would get tired of each other or something. Instead, I find that I'm even more in love than I was before! And I miss him soooo much. :sad1:

WOW.. those are beautiful pictures!! DH and I want to do the Alaska cruise.. maybe after the wedding. Can use our DVC points to do HAL. We sure won't have any $$$ left.........:rotfl: Seriously though.. I hear the excursions cost more than the cruises!!
I have heard this as well DPD, but from my research on this land and sea package you can get it all inclusive. It's cheaper than DCL by far just for normal rooms. :confused3

Hang in there PIT... once the Halloween costumes hit the store you'll find something. You'll have plenty of time before the cruise. First time my DH just wore a pirate tee and rolled up jeans. added an eye patch, earring and hat and he was good to go. We've cruised many times and each time we get a little more elaborate. Mine isn't all that fancy but it's fun.

Wow, THATS a great story! You know if you get married it has to be on CC right? That is a great way to meet someone. Dh and I are both big kids at heart and our mutual love of all things disney baffles our friends. They just don't get it. I can't wait to meet you and your hunny! Sorry we post so much, I can't keep up sometimes either!

Yes, Ummm, Alaska was our most expensive trip ever! But, it was great! We are wanting to go back again. We are thinking of going a little earlier in the season. We were the last ship to go through when we went. We did get some great buys at the shops because they were packing up and going to be closing down. Many of the shop keepers only work in town for the season - May/June to Sept. then they go back to their homes and stay baracaded from the snow until the thaw in the Spring. That's what they told me. I don't think I could do it!

Thank you on the PICS. Did you get it figured out on your PICS for the truck?? Yes, we were very cold, and we did keep the Hot cocoa, Hot toddy's, Kahlua coffee, etc. coming. It was a different type of cruise than Europe or Carribbean. They had different music, no one really circling to take your drink order, and they had a Naturalist outside on deck talking about what you were seeing all around you. Honestly, we were outside all the time - we did not want to miss any whales!!! And we loved the otters that played all around us. I recommend Alaska!! I also recommend the Land tour as well.

Oops - forgot to say - NO, we do not have ours yet. Still trying to decide also. :guilty:

Ladies: How beautiful - what fascinating ways to meet your hubbies!   :smokin: I loved both your stories.

Okay, it's late and I'm outta here! Austa La Vista!!! Mañana! :cloud9:

OK, I finally decided I would go ahead and enter the fish extender decorating contest, even though I am artistically challenged, to say the least! I sent an email as directed in the June newsletter. Is there anything else I need to do? (besides actually decorate the extender, of course ;) )

We have to take some new ones tomorrow after dh has it washed. I will post tomorrow as soon as we get going in the AM. Otters!! How cute! I want to go just to see the animals and I'll be happy! The hot toddy's don't sound too bad either!!

DPD- I sent you a PM with the BREW as not to upset anyone. :lmao: Chase it down with your Rosa Regale and your dh should be just fine :thumbsup2 :lmao:

I have a skirt that is black and torn looking on the ends, and kind of flowy. I might just play off of that and get some multicolored material to tear and wear for belts. I have black boots and can round up some fishnets. Gold hoop earrings, swords, etc. That might just have to e good enough. pirate:

I got a message from Lawrence wanting to know how many are signed up for the tour. I'm not sure if that means we can't add more later or not. Right now I have 15 people on the list for the tour, 13 adults and 2 children.

You can find the info about the tour on page 6 of the July newsletter. It used to also be listed on page one, post #5, of this thread with all the other info, but it seems to have disappeared. I was hoping to look up the post number from there (do you still have it, Peter?)

Anyway, it's going to be a fun tour, with a beach break :beach: at the end for those who want it, shopping stop for others, or straight back to the ship for those who want to do that. Price is right: $35 cash at end of tour, $45 for those going to the beach, too (since return transport will be provided), and $20 for kids over 3. You will also need $5 to get into the national park.

The tour meets in front of the cruise ship terminal at 8:45. Those not going to the beach can expect to return to the ship in time for lunch (12:30 or so). There are restaurants and other facilities available at the beach for those choosing the beach break at the end.

Please PM me if you are interested. I want to email the total count to Lawrence by the end of the day Wednesday.

Hello All! Cut CaptainCrash a break. After all, you might need him to add up your shipboard accounts should the computer system on the ship crap out. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Capn Crash are you aware that in Antigua you can meet Nick Maley? Google him because he apparantly had something to do with the creation of Yoda. He actually looks like Yoda in a way. He now owns this GREAT little art gallery on antigua that we went to on the 04 holiday cruise on my dh's b'day. We got to meet him, bought a page from the original script of StarWars and Kevin even got his picture taken with him. Just FYI for any StarWars fans, this was not a big deal for me but for my movie buff hubby it was the be all and end all. :cheer2: :cheer2:

do you think he could repair my yoda?? :sad2: :sad1:

Due to the nature of the event (wine tasting), this is an adult event. We (the co-hosts) would prefer parents take their children to the kids club, Flounders Reef, or have them stay with other family members. Sweetsue is planning for DD5 (Christina) to be at the Oceaneer's club during the event. There are many other opportunities to socialize with DIS members while having your children present - such as the jammie breakfast, the Mickey Bar eating contest, and several excursions that are planned. We hope everyone understands.

In order to attend this event, you must have an invitation. To get an invitation, you must be on the list. To get on the list, please email me. Sorry everyone, but them's the rules! :teacher:

My email address should be accessible; if not, it was published in the last two newletters.

Well I'm certainly making up for lost time with all this posting I'm doing tonight!

Some of you may have noticed that there are these people named Vanessa and Dick on the roster for the cruise. And they are even planning to participate in the gift giving, wine tasting, sail away party and who knows what else! So who are they?

Well, Vanessa is my good friend from work. We've known each other since sometime back in the 80s. We've traveled to Las Vegas (more than once) and Disneyland together. In January, she married her true love, Dick, at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Harry and I were there for the wedding, as were many of their other dear friends and family.

So now they are going on this cruise with us and I know you are going to really like them. They have checked out this thread, but as newlyweds they still have a lot better things to do with their time than be on the computer all the time if you know what I mean.

But wait! Vanessa told me they signed up on the DIS last week under the name Richie. So come on Richie, let's see you post!!! :cheer2: It's fun, you'll like it! :dance3:

Beth

So there was some posting not too long ago asking what people are doing before the cruise. Here's is the plan for Harry and me:

I will fly out of Seattle in the wee hours of the morning Saturday the 16th (12:35 a.m.). Then I change planes in Cincinatti and arrive at MCO at 11:17 a.m, just 10 minutes after Harry, who leaves Lansing at 6:35 a.m. and changes planes in Atlanta. We are both flying Delta, so hope to find each other at the luggage carousels.

Then we pick up our Budget rental car and drive to the Radisson at the port, where I hope to get into the room right away and have a little nap before the meet later on (those red-eye flights are rough).

Vanessa and Dick got their air through Disney, so they will be staying at the Hyatt and taking the DCL bus to the port in the morning.

Beth

Another post asked about post cruise plans. Here are ours:

We will be staying at the Swan for four nights after the cruise. We plan to attend the opening weekend of the Food and Wine Festival and we will be attending the first Party for the Senses on the 30th with our friends Bruce and Marta (who are also going to be on the cruise, btw, but only lurk around these parts...). This will be Harry's first time at the F&W and both of our first times to go to the PftS and to stay at the Swan.

Not sure if Vanessa and Dick will be going home right after the cruise or not --they were trying to arrange to stay at WDW for 3 nights, but haven't heard if they were able to get that done or not. Maybe Vanessa will post and tell us!

Beth

The fellow who is making the magnetic message boards sent me three samples and while they are great in many ways, Vanessa and I looked at them and decided they are simply too small. So, we want to go with a larger size. But to do that, we need to ask if anyone is interested in participating in this particular gift with us, since the larger boards are going to cost more money.

The samples we got were 8" x 2-1/4"; the ones we want are 8" x 3-1/2". They have our cruise logo (11 Nights in Paradise) and they come with a marker and a clip to hold it.

So if anyone is interested in helping to purchase this great gift for the group, please PM me and I will send you more details.
