Is anyone else having trouble finding adult pirate costumes? Every online store I come across is sold out of the good ones.
Hey PIT - I sympathize with you. The last 3 trips I was bamboozled by the HUGE # of

on board. I went all out for DH and rented him a 'Capt" outfit which really worked out well for him but left myself to the cheapie costume. Even at that my 'normal' wench costume was around $50-$60 (w/tax) by the time I finished w/accessories. And at that - their large size (supposedly fits 12-14 was rather small. I ended up with a plus size and even that ran rather small. I bought mine from Halloween Club in SoCal - if you happen to make it down here there are several around here that are open all year round. Let me know but try online at Halloweenclub.com, if not pm me and I can try to find one for you. As for me, this time, DH and I are going as co-capts. I (still unnamed) finally bit the bullet and decided to 'rent' a costume for the ship. You'll have to see it - its great down to the feather plume in my hat - I will definitely be Capt Lusty Wench (Hey

- inspiration) Yippeee - maybe I have a name now.
Anyway, last cruise my DH had a lot of compliments that he made me feel like the ugly duckling of wenches. Anyone remember the black-coated capt wearing a red scarf carrying a skull w/a blue diamond when we were in Curacao? That was Capt Chocolate Pig Out (

) AKA DH.
Anywho, as I mentioned, we're renting our costumes and the lady in the costume shop went all out and although we're paying about $80 ea, by the time you average out a poor excuse for a store bought costume, it was only a few pennies more so we went that route. The only drawback is that yes we have to carry the costumes in our dress bag as they cannot be rolled up - mine not only has a coat, but the bloomers, pheasant blouse and the corset to boot (along with the boots). Now I have no idea how I'm going to sit down with all that stuff and still stay inside the corset! I was told I shouldn't wear a bra that most of the ladies were on display - my reply? - yeah but that was 300 years ago and I'm on a DISNEY

!

In fact, now I have to worry about them making me walk the plank!
Try that avenue if your stuck although you don't get to keep it, you may get inspired to hunt for similar clothes in a thrift store when you have more time. As I mentioned, we intend to do several more Disney cruises so therefore, will have to find someone to sew us up some similar costumes. Hope this inspires several ideas - oh yeah - we got a discount if we supplied her with a 5 x 7 pix for her book so that others may see a costume with accessories. Doesn't hurt to ask!

Hopes this helps!
