and this is what I found on the Beaches

The best equipped beaches (for sun loungers, snorkel equipment etc) are Turtle Bay (20 minutes' drive) and Frigate Bay (5 minutes' drive) which is on the island's isthmus so it is possible to walk from the Caribbean to the Atlantic coasts in just a few minutes. To escape the crowds, head to Banana Bay and Cockleshell Bay (a 20-minute drive). Good snorkelling is found at Friar's Bay (5 minutes by car from Frigate Bay) and White House Beach

Maybe I am a little over optimistic but it would be cool to do the train in the AM and hit the beach for an hour or so of snorkeling and then back on board for Pirate Night.

I am sorry that I didn't answer this earlier..I don't usually get to the boards until late at night. I live in Calumet Township, just about 30 minutes South of Chicago. If you know where Gary and Merrillville are, I am right between them. And you??
I am still trying to get used to the new system at work :badpc: (me, by the end of the day) ;)
I glanced at a few of the excursions over on the DCL website, anyone ever done any of them?? I would love to do something with snorkeling, but can't swim a lick, so I'm thinking that is not an option for me. :sad2: Any other suggestions??
Hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday!! :wave2:
(Still gotta get that little green smiley thingy to work)

Just a quick post to ask for prayers for my nephew Johnnie. He's 23 and was involved in a diving accident yesterday. He broke his neck and drown and was dead when his friends pulled him out of the water. But they did CPR and brought him back and then called 911. LifeFlight took him to the trauma unit. He has 5 to 10 percent brain activity and severe spinal cord damage. I'm hoping that since they relieved the pressure on his brain that activity will increase but I don't know anything about that kind of thing.

Please, if you pray, please do pray for him, Johnnie Tilley. You couldn't ask for a sweeter young man.

I will put him on the prayer list at our church. Prayer can most certainly change all things. Hang in there :grouphug:

I have tried several times to email the Scenic Railway folks but have never recieved an answer so please let me know if anyone else manages to get them to respond. We are thinking of taking the DCL excursion that does the train but my preference would be just the train.

Hey Gail 15 hours and change we will be in those double digits. :woohoo:

Bob, Here is a hint, Fava Beans. :stir:

Hope that all have a great day. Mike

Thanks to my Dis Family for your thoughts and prayers. I'll be going to the hospital today to relieve some of the family. Please continue to pray.

Denise

Denise, prayers and pixie dust to Johnnie and his family.

Sue, glad to see you posting, hope all goes well for Christina.

good morning all

I might be out of the loop for a week while I am away - I'll be returning home on June 19th

Not sure if I am going to pay for the internet on the ship for a week - maybe, I'll decide later.

Christie: I'll call you when I get back

I thought about that as well, but I saw it was only a $10 difference and it does not include transportation. The other issue is the train only runs on certain days but they will make a special run for large groups like when ships are in port. So I am guessing they are only doing the train for DCL. I wonder if there are going to be 1 or 2 times. I wonder if GS would have any information?

Well, I put the DCL excursion on my wishlist so I guess we will have to settle for that one - although it is only an hour train ride but we will get to see the fort too so that will be interesting.

Whew! I was worried something might have happened in my absence, glad you waited until my return.
