September 15, 2012 - Fantasy Western

Hello all,

My name is Deanna and it looks like DH and I are going to join you on this cruise.

It will be our 20th anniversary -( on Sept 19th also) and I told DH that I wanted to go somewhere we have never been before. He suggested a cruise. I said we have been on a cruise before. He says: never without the kids. That's true. So I changed my dummy date to this cruise.

I am excited to see the new ship and so excited to have a week with my hubby. He is working out of state right now and maybe we see each other every three months. That's the secret to a long marriage. ;)

Here's to hoping for a hurricane free September and to low winds so we can dock at Castaway Cay. :sail:

Karyn - we are doing the early dining also, despite my kids being 11 and 12 by then. I hope we don't wish it was late dining, but both kids and DH get pretty grumpy when hungry, so I thought for the sake of everyone on board, an early dining time was best :)

We are Cherokee County also. Love fall break week!

Thanks everyone for the welcome. Since this is our first cruise, I have a silly question. What are fish extenders??? Also, how do I sign up for the other fun stuff you guys are planning (tastings, etc.).

Thanks!
Karyn

Welcome onboard!! What a lovely way to celebrate your anniversary. Hurricane free is good for me!

We do late dining as less smaller children .. if we get hungry, we go and grab a snack from the quick service places ... salads, chips, hotdogs, burgers, pizza. Just how hungry do you expect to be with everything included?!!!

Ok, so Fish Extenders (FEs) are exclusive to DCL as far as I know. Outside every stateroom door is a fish (or sea horse). This metal fish is where your steward puts any correspondence for you .. like a dining reservation at Palo for instance. A while ago, a group of people decided that they wanted to leave little gifts for their fellow cruisers, but they didn't know where to put them. Hence the FE was born. It's basically an extension of the fish!!
Here is our one (and you can see the door magnets people do too:

You can have 2, 3 or 4 pockets .. and any design you want. It has to have the wooden stick/bar at the top otherwise when you hang it out, it just collapses into the middle!
Once you're on the FE list, you can come back to your cabin each day normally and expect to find little gifts from the others on your list!!

Hey all! It looks like I'll be joining you. :) DH and I have been talking about doing a Disney cruise for a long time but never actually booked one. Well we finally took the plunge and booked one yesterday!

We are DVC members and seem to visit WDW about twice a year. We're pretty new to cruising. I've been on two cruises and DH has only been on one. My first was about 4 years ago with a couple of friends on Carnival. My second was on our honeymoon 2 years ago on Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas - which was amazing! But I have to say this is the one I'm most excited about! I've always wanted to go on a Disney cruise and I'm excited that it's on the newest ship.

If anyone has any advice or tips, I'd certainly appreciate it. I'll definitely be doing a lot of research!

Hi!

My DS will be 12 (almost 13) on the cruise and we also live in Cherokee County. He has made lots of friends before cruising by emailing, etc. before we get on the ship. If either of yours are intersted, let me know via PM and I can send his email address :-)

Welcome to the cruise crew!

Monica

Hi everybody!

We changed our booking from The Wonder MR which was to be in October to this one and also booked WDW with free dining, this is all totally new territory to us, having only been to California previously.

There will be Me, DH and DS6 travelling a long way (half way round the world) to have a look at this magnificent boat :wizard:

We have no idea what to expect :goodvibes

Sue, sent you a note about the FE list

Yonkers Girl, sent you a pm about kids emails. My son will be celebrating his 11th Bday on the cruise.

We always try to go with early dining. Leaves more room to snack later and enjoy our evenings.

We've been watching all the online blog posts as the ship made it's way over to NY and getting more and more excited.

We have 3 cabins booked and would love to be a part of an FE if there is one planned. Let me know and I will send details.

We just switched our Jan 5 cruise for Sept 15. Can't wait.

We are Dawn and Scott from Ontario Canada traveling with Samantha (7) and Brody (4). We love WDW, but this is our first Disney Cruise. We have done 3 cruises with Carnival.

Hi Dawn, Scott & Family!
We will be traveling with our son, who is turning 5 in a few weeks (March 21). I'm certain he'd love to have a buddy (or buddies) close to his age to hang out and pal around with. Hopefully we'll be able to introduce them!

This is not only our first Disney cruise, but first cruise ever. We are sooooo excited, but our son does not know yet that we are going. We're hoping to surprise him up until we pull into Port Canaveral.

Take care and have fun with all your cruise planning!
Karyn

Our son is entering Kindergarten in August, so this is our first "official" Cherokee County fall break! We're really looking forward to the cruise, and are considering a land trip to Disney in February 2013 for whatever break that one is (winter I suppose?)

Thanks & look forward to meeting you on board!!

The Fall break is the best. I remember when the school schedule first changed to having breaks a few years ago. I wasn't sure we would like it but it has worked out great. It always falls over my son's birthday and he gets to go on a trip for his birthday every year (usually a cruise). :) Our family enjoys the weeks off school throughout the year vs the longer summer. it gives the kids a nice break.

Can you please let me know if there is an FE planned for this cruise? We have 3 rooms that would like to participate. If there isn't one organized I will be happy to do it but please let me know.

Thanks my email is gfndsuzi at aol.com

Hi gfndsuzi,
This will be our first cruise ever and we're also interested in the FE (we'll have 2 staterooms). Earlier in this thread there was mention of organizing a FE but I'm not sure where that stands now. We'd definitely like to participate though!
