Jackie...

I'm still missing a couple of my Minnie socks... are they in your dryer???;)

We need a fingers crossed smilie! Hope he agrees....you can always tell him there a bunch of nice FUN people on board! ::yes::

He tortolly (I love that! :lmao: ) went for it so looks like we're in! Honestly, it was easy - I didn't even need to use my feminine wiles! ;) Sooo I've emailed my TA with the go ahead and I'm just hoping we get our fave stateroom... :cloud9:

So now for introductions... *clears throat* ...

Hello, I'm Karen from London, England and I'll be sailing with my wonderful DH Richard. This will be our 5th DCL cruise - our last one was the final Mexican Riviera and on this very date last year we were renewing our vows on the Western Caribbean...

Gotta say this seems a ubercool group of DISers and I look forward to getting to know y'all over the coming months! :thumbsup2 I'm particularly keen to become a member of the Champagne Girls - that sounds a perfect club for me as I love champers in all it's guises!!! :dance3:

My GF and I actually booked this cruise in the summer. We are getting married on it. We are really looking forward to it. It was going to be our first cruise but we decided to do a 4 day on the Wonder in January to get our sea legs. I have been sitting here reading through the pgs and pgs of post to pick up some more info and tips to put on our wedding website, but figured I'd throw up a post rather than lurk. I hope this will be a great cruise for everyone.:goodvibes

I love the tortolly btw - that has do go on the website somewhere :thumbsup2

How fabulous! We renewed our vows last September on the Disney Magic and it was the most fantastic day of my life - you're wedding will be awesome... :cloud9:

I am now beyond excited at the prospect of joining the cruise - just heard that we did get our preferred stateroom so all systems go!!! Flights are now booked and I just need to book a hotel for 3 nights before the cruise... :cool1:

Welcome Aboard!

My confirmation paperwork came today!! My DH got the mail and wanted to know what the DCL envelope was for!!??!! I was shocked that he didn't open it. I know he's got to have an idea now. :scared:
I told him that it was some vacation information I had requested. But he must think it's odd that I didn't open it. :confused3
He didn't mention it again- so either he bought my explanation- or he figured it out.
We'll see!

Quick question for you fellow tortolly cool crusiers....
Do you stay the night before the cruise somewhere in FL? Or just fly in that morning and go straight to the boat?
I am trying to figure this all out. I don't want to rent a car (car seat issues)- but I don't want to be worried about flight delays etc.
If we fly down and do a few days at Disney- can we still get Disney transportation to the boat?
Thanks!
-Sarah

Sarah, DH and I have flown in the day of the cruise quite a few times. It has always worked out fine for us. We did have a bit of a problem a couple of times but made the ship on time. That being said, we will not fly in on the day of the cruise anymore. Things have just gotten way too iffy with air travel. For this cruise we are going to spend a few days at WDW beforehand. And yes, you can get the DCL bus to the ship. That is what we will be doing. They only pick up from certain hotels though.:goodvibes

Why thank you!!! :thumbsup2

The weather was a little mixed on our cruise last September but the day of the VR was absolutely beautiful - so sunny and bright I had to wear shades on Deck 7 where we had the ceremony!!! I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you... :goodvibes

Glad you came out of lurkdome. Will you be doing the wedding on board or at Castaway Cay? Will you have family coming on the cruise also? There have been DISfolk wedding and vow renewals on a couple of my earlier cruises and they were beautiful. :bride: :groom:

We plan to fly in the day before (always do), especially as the sibilings are comming in from three different states. So the plan is to stay at the Hyatt the night before and I'm sure we'll hire a towncar (minivan?) for the ride to the port. Due to the time of year, I would HEARTILY recommend getting in the day before.

Yes, if you visit WDW first, you can still get Disney transportation to the boat. You can be picked up from one of the WDW resorts that offers that (Grand Floridian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach Club, Polynesian, Swan/Dolphin/ Port Orleans Riverside and French Qtr, and Caribbean Beach. $35 per person one way.
Those pick up times are around 11:45-12:15 ish and you get to the port by 1:30P. If you want to arrive at the port earlier, some people (Katypop!) have been known to take Magical Express (free) from any WDW resort BACK to the airport and then get on one of the earlier DCL busses from there.

You can also get the DCL bus from Animal Kingdom! Some folks spend the morning at the park and the bus picks them up from there. There is a DCL rep there where you 'check in' and leave your luggage while you do the park. If you think you might like to do that, be sure and check with DCL first, as I haven't heard anyone on the DIS talk about this in a while, so you want to make sure it is still available.

The towncar rental option is very good especially if there are four of you. Three point five people (:lmao: ) is about the break even point for paying for the DCL bus and hiring a towncar...at least it was the last time I did the math.

Well, it's the crack of dawn here and I spent the night on the couch in the TV room. Fell asleep there, woke up in the wee hours and planned on moseying in to bed, them remembered I hadn't put on the clean sheets. NO WAY I was doing that then, so I grabbed my pillow and headed back to the couch. I think there will be a nap in my future today. ::yes::

P.S. Michelle, I didn't find your Minnie socks...but my theory is that missing dryer socks mysteriously turn into wire coat hangers. :confused3

.

I've just spent a relaxing afternoon reading through the thread - it's going to be a fab cruise, that much is clear... :cloud9: I also had to do that thing where you work out when you can book Palo/excursions etc and it turns out that'll be on my youngest DS's 16th birthday next year - so no chance of forgetting that!!! :thumbsup2

Here's a couple of photos from our cruise in September 2007...

Hi, my DW & I have always tried to be in a day or 2 ahead, just in case of airline issues or lost luggage. Plus I my be retired by June 09 ::cop: We stay on site and use the Magical Express. This has worked very well for us. Plus we get to do WDW (MNSSHP) !!!!!:woohoo:
Perhaps a pre-cruise get-together at the Halloween Party??? Just a thought. It's very cool people getting married while we're celebrating our 25th Anniversary. Wishing the Happy Couple All the best.

p.s. the secret to a long marriage- Guys just apologize first thing in the morning and get it over with :lmao:

Breaking news.....breaking news.....this just in from Walt Dianey World.

Tortolian cruisers Deb (EllaEnchanted) and DH John (1GrumpyJohn) ran in to Emilly (rotary2808) and her crew at Epcot yesterday! Reports of Monica (mishoe01) being with them are unconfirmed at this time.

Sometimes you don't even have to plan a DIS meet! :lmao:

Please feel free to add one of mine, Jan... :thumbsup2

I am replying from my Blackberry which is red so I call it a Raspberry or RAZ which makes people think it is a competetor of Blackberry instead of thinking that my friend Nan and I are clever :confused3:

I was in the midst of adding your photo when DH needed his laptop to try to figure out why my new harddrive (which he has spent all of yesterday trying to get up and running ) is stil having a problem.

SO, of COURSE he can use his OWN laptop to fix MINE :thumbsup2

I planned to use the full length photo in the hallway by the stores because the one cutting the cake does not show your lovely eyes, but which do you prefer?

And--YES the aforementioned DIS-meet occurred--Deb, John, Monica and Rotary2808--Emily and Co.
