September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

:cheer2::cheer2::welcome::welcome::cheer2::cheer2: To all the new cruisers :sail:sailing with us!! Glad you are joining us on this trip.

:grouphug::grouphug: and pixiedust:pixiedust: to those that are having a tough time right now.

We'll be there in 9 Days, hopefully we won't melt... We will be trying to be there for rope drop for the first time (never have made it that early to a park) and taking afternoon breaks I think. But even with the heat and humidity expected I'm sure we'll still have a great time!

Have a good day everyone! :flower3:
Indeed - I'm planning on having a great time even if it rains (oh, wait I LOVE the rain) - well even if it's hot and sticky...
You'd better pack a heavy sweater and some thick wooly socks. Add a scarf and mittens in too, while you're at it.
I know it's weird - some Arizona's wear there sweaters when it's 80 degrees - not me though... well I DO in the theatre but that's cuz the a/c is turned ON so high...
Can you PM me the info on these? If it's a version of something I've seen on TV, I would love to know how you did it to be wrinkle free. Thanks
www.ebags.com - they even have a video to watch...

I am soooooo sorry to read that. It must be terribly hard on her. I hated to read that. My grandson has epilepsy and they can't get him under control. It started when he was two and he is now four and on the ketogenic diet. Helps a tad but the seizures aren't gone. His mom had seizures as well starting at the same age but it only took a few months to get her under control and they called that difficult. Told us that it isn't heriditary but now they are rethinking it. My brother was diagnosed the same year as my grandson. My other daughter is afraid to have kids. The same week that my grandson started the keto diet her "coach" that has been through it with her son lost her few month old niece to seizures. She had a 45 minute one. I got through it with my daughter with the attitude that it could be worse. I can't convince her that it will get better. I don't even believe it. Our family kind isn't one every so often, it can be a 100 per day or it can be 5 or 6.
Gosh, I had no idea it could be that bad - your grandson can have as many as 100 a day? I wasn't clear on that last statement... do they just keep trying different meds to try and get it under control?

PecoBill, I am sure glad that you out grew the seizures! Our family has several different types and that is what is so hard to control.

Peggy Jo, yes, my DD and grandson both had/have up to 100 seizures per day. That is when you quit counting and just face the facts until the next day. We are HUGE on documenting everything in a notebook so we count them. I don't know what possessed me to keep all of her records but they have helped so much with my grandson. They keep trying different meds and different combinations. He is on a schedule as of today of 6 pills in the morning, 4 in the afternoon and another 6 at night. Bless his heart, he is so drugged that he has pretty much stopped talking and is always sleepy & cold. He sleeps through preschool and he needs that desperately. There is nothing wrong with his brain so he CAN learn but he is running behind now. Same think with my DD but she did so well that she graduated on the honor roll in HS and cum laude in college. I pray my grandson has the same outcome. He is the little one on the left in my signature. His twin sister is the other little one. Working up the picture is my step twin granddaughters and then the older two girls are my twin daughters.

good idea about the books. we spent an hour or so working on the FE stuff last night....and need to go back for more.

everyone just know that the candy that melted and hardened in the wrapper was from me. i usually have no problem licking the wrappers clean. ha.

Lindsay was asleep by the time I read this... I will let her know in the morning...she will be very excited! Are the cousins not doing the FE? I didn't see a 10 yr old girl on my list...

Hanna will be happy she replied and happy to have a penpal.

The cousins aren't participating in too much. They're doing FishLips the night before the cruise and WOW but that's about it. I told them about the DIS and this thread (she lurked for a bit, but I think she got overwhelmed) and some of the activities but decided to not really participate. They may changetheir mind once on board, but it'll be too late for the FE. I got some things for the kids so they won't feel left out. So no worries there. My DN 10 will be with Hanna and Lindsay in the Lab. She's not as outgoing with new people as Hanna is so she'll probably stay with her even when the 10-12s can do other things. She loves horses though so she'll love to hear about Lindsay's.

Brooke3L and Tinkerbelle77, you will be visited by the FE fairy. Thank goodness I overbought!:wizard:

:confused3What am I doing wrong? I can't find the video on the ebags. I am seriously thinking about buying some. As you know, I worry about the wrinkles. Do you have to roll? Woody, didn't you say you DON"T roll? Doesn't the shirts get squished to the point of wrinkles?

Oh Stace, that's so hard. Many hugs and lots of pixie dust to you and Andy to be able to keep going forward. It'll never be the same again, but it doesn't mean that it can't be good still. I hope Andy is ready to find that out.:wizard::hug::wizard::hug:

Ditto. Well said Deb. Stacy, I do so hope you will be able to join us. My prayers are with you as you continue to heal from your loss.

I can only imagine how you and your husband are feeling...Prayers and Pixie dust for both of you! It's never easy to lose a loved one, but a child must be so incredibly hard...My DD (13) lost a classmate this past month to epilepsy, I didnt know the child very well, but my eyes still well up at the thought...At the wake all I could think of was it could of been one of my children and how lucky I was to have them all...It really makes ya think! Hopefully your husband will understand that it will never be the same, but that you can still have an enjoyable time...Maybe there is something that you guys can do as a tribute to your son while on the cruise...and then make it a tradition everytime you cruise you honor your son and celebrate his memory and the wonderful memories that you do have of him.

Thank You

And I am sorry your DD lost her classmate :flower3:

As for the cruise.. We do have a few things in mind that we will have as a "must do" Like ride on the coffee table.. :rolleyes1

We also plan to do something when we are on Castaway Cay ;)

Chocolate dessert fountain? You got my attention. Where and when? Don't want to miss it.

It's either at 11pm or Midnight and there are 2 fountains.. White Chocolate and Milk Chocolate.. It's only when sailing on the Magic..

It's a huge buffet and I am sure I can post pictures if you like

Come Hungry.. Leave Happy... and Stuffed :goodvibes

I am going to take Linds to go get some more stuff tonight. Books for the babies and maybe try to find something else for the older kids. Lindsay emailed Hanna this morning before school.

My prayers are with y'all also....

Now about this chocolate fountain... is it part of the pirate buffet? We had a pirate buffet on the Wonder, but we haven't been on the Magic yet.

OK - started looking at the Hurricane tracking center, and noticed that there is another wave off of Africa that has a chance of strengthening. I know that that one really isn't a threat to us, but about when should we be looking out for formations that could impact us? This is my 3rd September cruise, so I obviously am not that worried about it, and have no problem being rerouted, but it would be so much better to be stress free that week, and not have to be concerned at all.

I'm pretty sure it opens at 11 pm on Thursday. It's in Lumiere's and the buffet will be down the center aisle of the restaurant. Definitely come prepared b/c there's plenty of sweets to go around.

Here is the link to a video I found on eBags:

http://video.ebags.com/v/2333/ebags-packing-cubes-on-nbc-today-show-eagle-creek-packit/

I'll reiterate that I use both cubes and folders. I fold my t-shirts, and roll them up and put them in the cubes. Does anything every come out of a suitcase with no wrinkles? I think not, but they come out much better than when everything is stuffed into a suitcase and then starts shifting and bunching around during the hours of transport.

I use the folders for our button front shirts like my 10,000 tropical shirts. These come out much better than if left to their own devices in the suitcase. Firstly they are held in place and not sliding around and bunching along with everything else sliding around and bunching. At worse case, they come out of the folder with creases from where they were folded.

I get wrinkles carrying stuff home from the dry cleaners which is only 20 yards away from my house. So I think zero wrinkles is an unrealistic.

Stacy - look on the left right under product and it will have different views and "video"...

I THINK Woody said he doesn't roll his stuff as he uses the "folder" for his shirts - they have Eagle Creek brand folders on ebags.com too - I bought two of those! Good luck!

Thanks for telling me about the kids and who is who in the photo - lots of twin in your family! My niece has twin girls too - and is pregnant with her fourth child - a boy! We are happy about that!

Sorry Ian - didn't see your response before I posted! :cutie:

The more the merrier. At least you're not a miss bossy boots like your sister.

I really like the folders. We have 2 of them. The benefit is that they hold the shirts securely in place, so the are not slipping around and bunching up in the suitcase, which is where all the wrinkling comes from.

:thumbsup2That's exactly what I was thinking! With weight restrictions on luggage these days you can't "stuff" them like before and we are always upset with the way everything "shifts". These are great. Thanks for the tip!!!! Sorry I didn't pay more attention the first time.

Chocolate Fountains anyone???
