September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

Hey to all FE participants. Brooke3L just booked and is wanting to participate. She knows that many have already purchased their items but for those of you who have extras. She said her last cruise only 8 participated and she has gifts to give. So far I dont think TinkRules has booked so many more might have extras. As soon as she gets her cabin I will let you know.

OK, so I ended up double posting, but let's use the opportunity to get the conversation rolling.

How is everyone coming in their packing and preparations?

This coming weekend is the big push around here, which is just as well since we leave for WDW on the 4th.

I think I'm actually still a bit surprised that we are even going! But I received the underwater digital camera today - yipee! :yay:
The kids wanted to go immediately test it in the pool. So pretty much the extent of my preparation so far has been ordering things. Although I did get through telling my ex that we are going on the trip and all went well with that - so that's another step in the right direction.

I guess I better get in gear this weekend too - I leave on the 3rd for the California trip until the day before the cruise.

I think it will be so neat to meet all of you on the cruise. I'm so used to not knowing anyone when we're on vacation. (With the exception of this one family from the kids' last school that we ran into unexpectedly at WDW a few different times - crazy!)

We have an underwater video camera that we're planning to us, underwater, for the first time on this trip.

From the looks of it, this one I ordered takes still frames and a few hours of video as well (depending upon what size card you put in there). We didn't actually try it in the pool today because I was booked up all day until tonight.

I'm guessing that I'll get to use it after the kids have their fill. :rotfl:

We may try it at the beach tomorrow morning if we have a green flag again and I can find some other time to get groceries - or - who needs groceries when there are underwater pictures to be taken!

Did you test yours at least in the sink or bathtub or something already?

My DH says that no more quarters are necessary for the washer and dryer, say it ain't so. Now we can use our Key To The World Card. Does anyone know if this is true? It sure would save one thing that I wouldn't have to pack!!!

I have extras....

I think i have all the genders of the kids figured out except Marylovesdisney... does anyone know if she has girls/boys?

what are y'all getting for the babies? One yr old and 7 mo old? any suggestions?

apparently, i am not very creative on the adults... any ideas besides candy? will they let me take all this candy onboard? if i check it...will it melt?

i plan to bring a couple 12pks of beer (for the room fridge)...will they give me any problem about this? will i have to carry it around all afternoon until the room is ready?

Garry, hope the horses are well after your trip! We were at the bippity boppity at Disney Village last week...wonder if she was working yet? we were there on monday. Lindsay really wanted to do it, but i just couldn't afford the $200 price tag.

The dining room table is stacking up....

went to look for a suitcase for my 8 yr old today - she wants her 'own' suitcase. gosh, i didn't realize they cost $150 bucks - and that was for a small one.

No, not in the water, but it has been well reviewed and was made to be used underwater, though with a time limit of 30 minutes submerged and only to a depth of 5 feet, but that's fine for what we want to do.

Haven't done anything yet. It's too soon for me to start packing. If I pack now, I'll pack something I'll end up needing and just have to unpack it and pack it again.

No more quarters. Cost is now $2 and you charge to your KTTW card. Much easier and one less thing to confuse the TSA people with :rotfl:

Cool, :thumbsup2I will make sure to have one for her!!

I think I have spare FE Gifts too. I need to get on top of all that stuff quick! You know, FE, packing, etc...

sounds good -

I trust that ours is fine - it also has great reviews - but I like having the chance to play with it a bit, learn the settings, etc.

Now that DD is a great snorkeler, the next step is getting DS certified. He is old enough for junior certification and has been asking to get certified since he was about 5. So I get a great dive buddy in the next few years!

Shall we hit Jellyrolls one night at WDW? I love that place!

.

We have never done Jellyrolls. We are very close when we stay at our BCV home. Is it a fun evening? We have enjoyed seeing "Bob" at Port Orleans. Very much a family kind of show, but fun for all ages. Have any of you done these or other entertainment we might consider for our post-cruise nights?

Yes, the big push is underway. We are now packed and ready to depart at o'dark thirty for OBX for a week. We are then home for the start of college football season before heading off again. Just hope I pick up the right suitcase while I'm passing through the house and changing vehicles. Thank heavens for my travel :littleangel: angel!

Haven't even started. Haven't set up the staging area. And haven't even gotten the suitcases ou yet. I'll probably do all of this on Labor Day. Got the day off and so does DH. We don't leave 'til Fri. The 11th. Plenty of time.

Sounds great! I can't believe there were only 8 participating on her last cruise.... do we know how many or genders, etc. for her?

The only other FE info I don't know is if Marylovesdisney has boys or girls or both.......
dd wanted to pick up the goodies tomorrow after school, so I may just get lots of extras.

I was afraid of the melting situation too, so I think I will have to try to find something else.
Regarding the liquor, you will have to carry it around in your carry-on. Bummer for sure, but worth it IMHO. The worst part is trying to coordinate it all when getting lunch at Topsiders! :scared1:
