September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

Hello from Waterton Canada. Just wanted to stop in while on vacation and tell the list keepers that my room number has changed. DCL offered an upgrade from a 9 to a 6 so we jumped on it. It was all done while on vacation and I don't have the room number with me. It is either 6523 or 6532. When I get home late this week I will research it out and let you know. Sorry for the change!

Hope everyone is well.

Congrats on your upgrade ... do NOT get me started about what our family conversation went thru over the weekend in "CASE" we get an offer!:confused3

This cruise is turning out to be quite a bit of reminding us what's important - our health, our family and our friendships and enjoying life - because you NEVER know when that curve ball is coming.
Amen.

Just a thought on upgrades.

Yes it would be nice if everyone got free upgrades, but remember for every room you leave to get a better room, that is one less room a room stewart would have to get a gratuitie from.

Disney has to make sure everyone is even out so the stewarts can get paid equally. otherwise the ones who work balcony rooms would get gratuties all the time and the poor inside cabin guys would get nothing.
DCL adjusts the room stewart sections to account for empty cabins.

So say they typically get X number of cabins. They still get X cabins, just with some empty cabins in between.

I forgot when posting earlier how much I enjoyed JULIE & JULIA! The crowd clapped at the end of the film, it was refreshing and lovely to see a movie that was clean and delightful to the senses.
Mrs. Woody wants to see JULIE & JULIA.

On our last cruise, she listened to the book on CD, and really enjoyed it.

Plus I believe that they have both inside and outside rooms (located across the hall from each other) to look after. So they don't just have Cat 6 rooms.

I wish we were closer - she would have enjoyed going with my pal Mary who is delightful to be with - and we laughed and laughed - also had a nice lunch at Z Tejas! (yum, pecan crusted chicken over warm spinach salad)...:woohoo:

The biggest thing I forgot to do and NOBODY reminded me was send a check for the lanyards! GOING TO DO THAT TONIGHT! I'm so mad at myself!:headache:

Or in case we want to purchase one at the port. (Peg, there's more to the story today...call me.)

OH! :scared1: I thought you did that a week ago. Sorry, I would have nagged you, don't you know. :upsidedow

 Hi John, good to see you here....can't wait to give you all hugs!

I can not believe that we have less than 5 weeks to go! I am so excited and this cruise is going to be a much needed distraction for my family.

It seems that this group has a lot of medical problems going on.. and my family adds two. My Dad found out that he needs back surgery due to his degenerative arthritis (he has disintegrating disks in his back.. a lot of them, this is causing pinched nerves) He is waiting until after the cruise for the surgery though!
I also found out a few weeks ago that I have a brain tumor. It is very small and not causing any symptoms so we are on a watch and wait program. I will have another MRI about a week after we return from the cruise to see if it has grown at all.. if is has then I will have to have surgery to remove it.

We are trying to stay positive, and planning this trip has really helped! I picked up fabric yesterday to make my FE, and I still need to make the gifts for it (though I know what I want to do...). Plus, DD#1 starts Kindergarten next week, and her 5th birthday is the following week... so I have plenty to keep me busy for the next few weeks!

:grouphug: for you and your Dad...and for all my DIS pals who are having health issues. I'm glad we all have this cruise to distract us and to help us celebrate being with the people we love.

OK........ I sent out the final list for the FE. There are a few of us waiting for rooms so please send them to me when you get them and I will send another list a week or so before cruise time. I will deliver mine on the first night and will have a board on my door for any changes, etc. If you did not get the list please PM me. I was having internet issues today. :)

Can you PM me the list as you have it? I will use it to update page 1 post. I will not post the room numbers not already posted, but at least that list would be current as far as FE participants is concerned. :)
THANKS!

Who wants to call DCL and pretend to want a Cat 1-3 on this cruise and find out for us if there are still some available? Just curious about the potential for upgrades at the port. Not like I would be able to do any...just curious...aren't you?

.

On our last cruise when we were leaving our room for disembarking, we passed by one of the Disney suites. The room was open and being cleaned. We asked if we could peek inside and were allowed to. Wow, these are really, really nice rooms. They look a lot better in person than the images shown online.

If anyone gets an upgrade into this room, please let us know! We will be a couple of doors down from you! Or across the hall, depending on the room. :goodvibes

I haven't been posting much lately, but you all know I skulk around here. and DEB keeps me up to speed on every thing. I did promise Joanie that I would post a few links for graphics though

Hey John! How are you? Are you up for knocking back some drinks with me on Shots Around the Ship?

I'm hoping that some more steerage cabins open up. We'll then have someplace to keep the goat, chickens and other livestock in steerage.

Garry - what is the deal with the heat and humidity in the mid-west? I heard from my pal (grade school chum) who's back in Chicago area for her dad's open heart surgery and she said it was just so hot and sticky - she lives here and said our 105 is way better than what they are dealing with.

I'm hoping that some more steerage cabins open up. We'll then have someplace to keep the goat, chickens and other livestock in steerage.
Ian - I can't thank you enough for making me smile too today!

Sorry about your Dad--hope the surgery makes a huge difference.

 for you about that diagnosis.
Keep us posted :)

I totally understand about the cruise helping you stay positive! ::yes:: When Tom's by-pass surgery was delayed due to a medical emergency, we talked about the cruise while we waited for his turn in the OR.

 DCL is therapeutic!! :yay:
