September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

You must live in perpetual fear of Sukie and I embarrassing you.

I live in perpetual fear of you and Sukie making me laugh myself silly! :lmao:

I don't want to go to work today, didn't sleep well and I'd just rather be home dealing with my stuff than at work dealing with theirs! Anybody who has my work (or cell) phone number is welcome to call and distract me today! :rotfl:

Oh and 3/5 of the support team will be in training for two days solid later in the week, so the remaining two of us have to cover everything...what fun!

.

For those of you doing WDW on this trip, here's something cool they are doing at AK regarding fast pass distribution. This is from a friends live trip report:

we headed over to It's Tough to be a bug and I almost fell over when I saw that there were FP machines for EE, Dinosaur, Kilamajaro Safari and Kali River Rapids next to ITTBAB!! Bill almost cried that he just went all the way back to Kilamajaro Safari when the machine was right here. ..... The guy I talked to said it was a protype (and I had even thought it might have been when I saw it in the morning). He thinks it will be around to stay because everyone is loving it. I've always said they need to have them at the front of the parks so you wouldn't have to run around the parks and then back to another area. THis is so exciting.

Having these at the 'hub' of each park would be FABULOUS! So you never have to go more than halfway through a park to get a fast pass!

It would help eliviate the mob of people in the morning around Toy Story Mania, but there would be gridlock around the hub and you wouldn't be able to get down Hollywood Boulevard.

Not at all - though I did mention you & the others at our table :rotfl2:

I did also go to World Market to check out their wines - they didn't have ANY on the list you sent me. Will be going by BJs, Publix & the place you don't go to this week to see their offerings.

Just wanted to check in - I have been traveling a bunch for work, and DH and I just got back from a long weekend in Cancun for our 15th Anniversary. Heading to LA next week for work, then I can start packing and getting everything together. We are looking forward to meeting everyone. I think that we may leave on Thursday night after work and drive as far as we can so that we will make sure not to miss our Fishlips gathering. With a 2 year old it may be hard to make the 10 hour drive and still make it to dinner without a meltdown ;)

Thoughts and prayers go out to all that need it.

Less than 5 weeks to go:banana:

I can not believe that we have less than 5 weeks to go! I am so excited and this cruise is going to be a much needed distraction for my family.

It seems that this group has a lot of medical problems going on.. and my family adds two. My Dad found out that he needs back surgery due to his degenerative arthritis (he has disintegrating disks in his back.. a lot of them, this is causing pinched nerves) He is waiting until after the cruise for the surgery though!
I also found out a few weeks ago that I have a brain tumor. It is very small and not causing any symptoms so we are on a watch and wait program. I will have another MRI about a week after we return from the cruise to see if it has grown at all.. if is has then I will have to have surgery to remove it.

We are trying to stay positive, and planning this trip has really helped! I picked up fabric yesterday to make my FE, and I still need to make the gifts for it (though I know what I want to do...). Plus, DD#1 starts Kindergarten next week, and her 5th birthday is the following week... so I have plenty to keep me busy for the next few weeks!

Just a thought on upgrades.

Yes it would be nice if everyone got free upgrades, but remember for every room you leave to get a better room, that is one less room a room stewart would have to get a gratuitie from.

Disney has to make sure everyone is even out so the stewarts can get paid equally. otherwise the ones who work balcony rooms would get gratuties all the time and the poor inside cabin guys would get nothing.

Oh my! I am so sorry to hear about you and your Dad's medical problems. Hope everything turns out well for you both.

I didn't want to come to work either... I had dreams all night long and woke up several times grinding my teeth so hard they hurt and my jaw is still sore... too bad I can't come down there and help you out - I'd rather be busy than bored and I don't have enough to do to keep my mind off things...

This cruise is turning out to be quite a bit of reminding us what's important - our health, our family and our friendships and enjoying life - because you NEVER know when that curve ball is coming... I am going to say a prayer for each and everyone on this cruise that we hear NO more bad news... that from this point forward things shift...:wizard:

Those on the FE "Notsolittlemermaid" is one adult and no children. Somehow a child wandered over.

sorry we didn't get back to you sooner, but we would like to be included in the fish extenders if it isn't too late.

thanks,
Kimpirate:

I just closed the list Saturday and sent the final list out. If people have extras then that would be ok but I know that a lot of people said they already ordered and received their FE gifts. I have extras. I can send an email out letting people know you would like to add if there is extra. PM if you would like to continue.

Klara :)

I'm sorry to hear you're going through a rough spell. I hope for the very best for you and your dad. Enjoy the cruise!!!

Also, Tink Rules is not booked on this cruise at this time, so Kim's cabin could take her spot possibly??

I think if DCL was concerned about this they wouldn't do free upgrades or offer paid departure day upgrades. I'm sure they have a procedure in place for their people.

.

Hello from Waterton Canada. Just wanted to stop in while on vacation and tell the list keepers that my room number has changed. DCL offered an upgrade from a 9 to a 6 so we jumped on it. It was all done while on vacation and I don't have the room number with me. It is either 6523 or 6532. When I get home late this week I will research it out and let you know. Sorry for the change!

Hope everyone is well.

Thanks John - it brought a smile to my face~;)

I forgot when posting earlier how much I enjoyed JULIE & JULIA! The crowd clapped at the end of the film, it was refreshing and lovely to see a movie that was clean and delightful to the senses. I DID want to eat afterward and ended up having a chocolate covered strawberry at Godiva. Not bad considering what I wanted to do!
