September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

Deb, I'm bringing two bottles of the SAME sparkling wine. Because it's such a favorite, I wanted there to be enough to go around. Just wanted to make sure you weren't thinking two different kinds to taste. I even called the ABC liquors near WDW to make sure they carried it and he told me to call back a couple of days before I got there to make sure he didn't need to have any sent up from the warehouse. :thumbsup2 Can't wait to share some Rosa Regale with the DIS gals!

.

Hi Jackie, yes I knew that you would be bringing two bottles of the same thing. I plan on ordering two bottles of each of these from DCL:

Iron Horse Brut Fairy Tale Cuvée Champagne

Korbel Brut N.V. Champagne

One is semi sweet and one is dry. Yours is very sweet. That's a good range. Then I'm going to buy two bottles of this in Cocoa Beach:

Möet & Chandon WHITE STAR Champagne

This one is extra dry. That will give us two bottles each of a very sweet, a semi sweet, a dry and and extra dry....for a total of 8 bottles. I think that will work out just fine. On our PC cruise we had double the amount of ladies and we only used 8 bottles total. I think we're good. Let the champagne flow.....Cheers Champagne Girls!:cutie:

HI FOLKS

Welcome! Looks like we have a lot of birthdays to celebrate. DH selected this cruise to celebrate my 60th, and I'm :woohoo: expecting this will be one of the best.

Oh you silly girl! While I am an afficianado of my good friend Mr. H, I was referring to a hand held, battery powered fan used to keep your face cool while standing in those long WDW attraction lines in the September heat and humidity. :thumbsup2

Must remember to find out what kind of batteries are required so I can pick up a supply.

.

Jackie (if that indeed is her name) is being rather nice to us. It has dawned on the collective group that we are going to be there at the beginning of September. After my 50th birthday party in WDW, in mid-August, I swore that I would never again go in the middle of summer. I guess I forgot that when we're going to be there is only 2 weeks later than the dreaded week I spent for my birthday.

The goal is keeping cool. A prime goal is keeping Sukie cool since he is so fond of collapsing and passing out from the heat. So far, he's managed to do it in Disney Studios, and also collapsed on the floor in the lobby of Mickey's Philharmagic (I was unaware of this, and was also baffled as to who was the strange man sitting next to me in the show). I think Sukie is striving to pass out in every one of the 4 parks.

So, keeping him cooled down is must. I also have about 4 cool bands for each of us in our little party.

Hi Folks
thank you for the welcomes.
looks like we are in 7004. I know we jumped in at the last minute, anything we can still join in on????????

meets and greets or things???

Garry, take a look at page one for activities:

We will be ordering lanyards (or perhaps Monica has already placed the order). I know we are ordering extra, so if you would like a pair, please PM mishoe01 and asked to be put on the list.

We are doing FE gifts, and a count was posted for that last weekend. But if you want to participate just post that here as well as PM disneylove69. Some folks have already ordered/made there stuff and may not be able to include you, but others haven't completed their arrangements and may have extra's to share (I know I will).

3PM Promoanade Lounge embarkation day is the DIS meet.:thumbsup2

Sunday...champagne girls for the ladies and shots around the ship for everyone will start our first sea day of with a bang! If Vicki is interested in joinging in for Champagne Girls, she can PM EllaEnchanted (there were posts on this just today).

Ian is also organizing a "Walking on Water" event for those who want to do some laps on the ship, to help burn off those Mickey bars!

.

We'll be staying in a dedicated 2bdr in Nov. Sounds like we might have to do some playing around with that thermostat.

Where is the internet hookup in the 2bdr? Or (wishful thinking) did it have in room wifi?

BLT does have it's own pool complete with water slide. It's a beautiful pool. There's pics of it on allearsnet.com.

From what I've heard you do have to check in over at the Contemporary.

Thanks for the info. The pics are great. My kids will love the pool. I hope we have a fireworks view! That would truly be lovely.

I feel left out now :-( We have brunch on Sunday, dinner on Thursday at Palo. Is anyone else at brunch on Sunday?

Maybe I should try and get lunch on Thursday also...

-Kay

--Kay

We have dinner at Palo on Thurs too. Ours is at 6, no other choice for us. We would love to try brunch. Just hope we can snag something on board.

Oh, and Garry and Vicki, I'm delighted to be able to meet two much loved "Blabbermouths". :grouphug:

No problem!!!! I'm definitely looking forward to our first trip home there. I will be taking tons of pics. It is already my favorite DVC resort.

Welcome! :welcome:

The following is an encapsulation of what's planned on board and who to contact:

The events planned as part of this cruise by folks on this thread. To express an interest in participating in any of the above contact the coordinator by PRIVATE MESSAGE (PM) or post on the thread asking about availability.

DIS Dinner and Meet-up at Fishlips Restaurant, Sept 11, Night Before the Cruise--Coordinator--EllaEnchanted Let the fun start early, the night before the cruise with a DIS dinner meet-up at Fishlips Restaurant. RSVP and your party will be added to the list. It will help with getting an accurate count so that a table or tables can be booked. For more information about Fishlips Restaurant click here. Contact/PM: EllaEnhcanted

CG-- Champagne Girls--Coordinator--EllaEnchanted Tentatively scheduled for Sunday, September 13th, 2:00 p.m. at Diversions. This event is a champagne tasting.....we'll sample different champagnes ranging from dry to sweet and learn something about each of them. We would like everyone to wear PINK. Pink tiaras and boas will be provided. We will take a group picture. Our mascott is Sassy Bubbles and she will be dressed like a pink tink.....aka....Cheri. It's not necessary for everyone to drink champagne. We have tasters.....they will sample the champagnes. We have sippers....they will only have a little. We have non champagne drinkers....they can order whatever they want. There will be an additional charge to participate, but it will be minimal....usually $10 for tasters and $5 for sippers....no charge for non champagne drinkers. We'll try to keep it in this price range. Pictures will be available at Shutters for purchase separately. Deb will need to know the size of the group so that she can make appropriate plans with DCL and have sufficient champagne. Contact/PM: EllaEnchanted

SATS -- Shot's Around the Ship-A Stem to Stern Extravanza-Coordinator--iankh will take place on Sunday night, September 13th, 9:30 to 10-ish PM. You can drink whatever you want, water, soda, or rot-gut. When we're ready, as a group, we'll move on to another bar on the ship. It is meant to be just a relaxed way for folks to get together and chat. Many of my friends on this cruise, I first met at Shots Around the Ship on another cruise. The count of respondents will provide information to make sure that DCL has our first venue staffed appropriately for the size of the gathering. Contact/PM/B]: iankh

GOAA -- interested in participating in GEEZERS OF ALL AGES milk and cookie event(s) at Cove Cafe (time, date and coordinator to be announced--may be a spontaneous event as people show up at Cove Cafe for cookies and milk or decaf after or instead of clubbing.)

Fish Extenders--Coordinator--disneylove69 This is a little gift exchange, and it can be a lot of fun and full of surprises. A count of cabins and people will be needed in advance, so that the exchange can be organized, goodies purchased, etc. Contact/PM: disneylover69

Lanyards - Step right up for your souvenir lanyard of this voyage, complete with customized name badge. See and be seen by other DIS members. No charge for the lanyards, as this is being done through the generosity of several board members, but additional donations to defray the cost are of course appreciated. Contact/PM: Mishoe01

WOW--Walking on Water - Keeping Healthy at Sea --Coordinator--Weight Watcher Leader Ian is meant to be a way to keep active on board ship. I am planning on going for a long walk everyday and invite others to join me. I will be asking a bit more below, so I can get a better idea of what folks are looking for. This is the first time I've planned this sort of activity. Contact/PM: iankh

Good Morning Tortolians.....the wheels have been set in motion and arrangements are in process for setting up our Champagne Girls tasting. Now I'm really, really getting excited.

We have a total of 23 ladies attending. If anyone wants to attend and did not yet receive an email from me, please PM me and I will add you to our little gathering.

DH John helped me go over the list of DCL champagnes as provided by Jackie in a link to DCL gifts. Thanks again Jackie. Perfect timing. We determined how many bottles of what we will need. We will be purchasing 4 bottles from DCL and bringing 4 bottles onboard with us....two of which will be provided by Jackie and two provided by me and John. I'm going to have DCL charge my KTTW card for all the expenses and I will charge $5 or $10 at the door in cash, depending on whether you are a sipper or a taster. Honorary Members are welcome and will be free of charge. Tiaras and Boas will be handed out at the door when you check in. I have requested a sommelier to teach us about the different champagnes that we will be tasting.

We are going to have such a great time. Five more weeks until me and John hit the road. I can't wait. I'm so very excited for this trip to get here.
I too am getting really excited and looking forward to this sail as well and wanted to thank you and all the other coordinators for their events that are being planned... thank you all!
OK, what are you getting for the rest of us?
Guess you will have to wait and see my little friend...
You will be receiving:

1. The pleasure of my company for two weeks

2. The pleasure of Peg's company for one week

3. Mickey ears for your door

4. A personal fan for use in WDW

5. A dry erase board for your stateroom door

So, see, you won't walk away empty handed! :lmao::lmao:

.
The erase boards are courtesy of Jackie, the fans are my treat... I got a great deal with a vendor I used for work and Jackie is bringing some down for the WDW portion of the trip for the gang hanging out at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge... evidently Miss Cherie already has one - one thing I didn't get to do was the ability to put on some sort of logo or saying they are too small...
That's all well and good, but seriously, what are the real gifts?
The REAL gift will be you getting to meet my brother and my DH...
Oh you silly girl! While I am an afficianado of my good friend Mr. H, I was referring to a hand held, battery powered fan used to keep your face cool while standing in those long WDW attraction lines in the September heat and humidity. :thumbsup2

Must remember to find out what kind of batteries are required so I can pick up a supply.

just wanted to say that the fans come WITH batteries - no purchase required.

I got fans for both you and Suki - :woohoo::woohoo:

Hi Garry,
Well I guess you are talking about me.:goodvibes Yes, I am a RN, and as Jackie said--my name is Vicki-even spelled the same which is unususal:thumbsup2 I worked 20 years in the Emergency Dept. in a Level 1 Trauma Center, and then about 8 years working in Outpt. Surgery, and in Endoscopy as conscious sedation nurse-sedating pts for procedures. EVERYONE loved me at that time---I had the happy, feel good medicine:dance3: So the Vicki's should definiately talk.....Vicki

The toys in Happy Meals at McDonalds this cycle are Beanie Babies.
One of the Beanies available in Indianapolis today is a green bear which looks close to DIS-green to me.
Many McDonalds will sell the toy without a food purchase. Some require a food purchase. Diet coke or a sugar free iced vanilla coffee count as a food purchase.
If anyone wants a green Beanie bear decorating their stateroom door on our cruise magnet hooks (available in hardware stores) could loop under the bear's ribbon.

I know this might be cheating, but after getting stuck with a dolphin and a ladybug, I found this site: http://www.bbtoystore.com/store/Bmc_3b_2009_12.html

Hi everyone. I am DW to WDWGoose. I'm sure he will keep me up to date with what is happening here (he posts much more than I do)

I sent a couple of PM's regarding a few of the onboard activities. We are at WDW the night before sailing so we won't be able to join the precruise meet. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Then we'll all go take naps afterwards so that we can gather again at 10:00 pm in the Promenade Lounge for Shots Around The Ship. That's the way to start up our cruise on our first sea day. Oh what fun.:woohoo::yay::dance3:

Good thing I'm getting a massage before all the fun starts!

If I can help, please let me know.
