Perhaps frightening is too strong a word. Some have said that, but there again they were only a few comments. It is very crowded though and the wait line is long. However, if you have never seen it I would still do it. Most of the wait is sitting down.

It used to be that if you had the dinner package, you didn't queue up. You went in through an entrance near the "gas station" and the around back and (long walk) and then they had a reserved seating area.

So now with the dinner package, they make you queue up with everyone else? I'm not sure I understand the point.

I believe that you take off and land in the boat. But I could be wrong :confused3

You do...I THINK Ian was teasing. ;)

Parasailing at CC is wonderful...great view up there and so peaceful.:cloud9:

.

Don't mind Ian - he LOVES to joke!

You do take off & land from/in the boat. :lmao::rotfl:

Actually, I was perfectly serious. If it doesn't involve water skiing I would be interested. I don't water ski (and have no interest in learning).

No contact w/ the water - unless then dunk you :goodvibes

You stand at the back of the boat while they strap you in....then you sit while they start letting the rope out & they start picking up speed. You leisurely start flying up.....repeat in reverse on the way down. Our boat people had fun w/ us & dunked each of us on the way back in....not too deep tho (I think it was waist deep only).

It was an amazing experience - very relaxing up top & surprisingly quiet. :thumbsup2

It seems to me like they are slowly trying to kill the dinner package. Leave it to Disney to kill a good thing.:lmao: I'd like to see Fantasmic again and Jason has never seen it, but I don't want to have to spend the whole night waiting in a line and if the dinner package doesn't save me anytime, I'm with you Ian, what's the point?

I don't even like to stand around for the parades. I can't tell you the last time I saw Spectromagic. The only parades I'll wait for are at the MK parties.

I wonder what you do get with the package? I mean, the seats with the Fantasmic package were not the best in the house, but the key advantage was not waiting around.

I'm with you too on the parades, it's the waiting around for them that bugs me and then people coming and standing in front of me, no matter how early I've been there.

Luckily, I've seen most of what I want to see.

Probably a reason why I like the Electrical Water Pageant so much is because I can get there 5 minutes before and see it, plus I find it just so charming in it's simplicity :goodvibes

and if you watch it from the Poly... you usually get fireworks soon there after...

Neither do I. I also believe the CM's take your reserved seating pass away from you when you get to the front of the line, so you then have no proof either.

I think they are trying to get us all to go to American Idol instead!!!!:scared1:

So it's sounding like the dinner package gives the guest absolutely nothing, and gives Disney extra money by having someone prepay for a 3-course dinner?

The last time Sukie and I did it was a couple of years ago, when we took his daughter (I suppose now my daughter-in-law) and grandson (I suppose now my grandson, the idea of me being a grandfather is revolting, but that's another post), on a 4-day cruise and a week in WDW.

We had a leisurely dinner at Mama Melrose, moseyed over to Fantasmic, had not waiting of any kind, except sitting in the stands, waiting for the event to start. I think we were there about 30 minutes ahead of time.

No queuing up, no crushing crowds, except perhaps when it was over and we exited with everyone else.

Here's and article from the Orlando Sentinel. It appears that much of the original benefit is gone.

Thanks Monica! I will have my DU travel agent make ressies for the Fantasmic Dinner package at Mama Melrose. That way we will be sure to do it this time.:thumbsup2 It will be nice to try a different restaurant and see a show we haven't seen.:goodvibes

10 hours till booking ADR's....:scared: I hope we get what we want, when we want it!

Although I know we can keep checking as time goes by to see if something we wanted is now open (it happens...honest).

I shiver with anticipation..............................................

I guess I'll have to wait to hear where we're eating until I get back from work in the morning.

If I e-mail it to you, will you be able to access that between classes perhaps? Heck, we'll be done by 7AM your time. HEAR THAT UNIVERSE? WE WILL BE ALL DONE BY THEN....no computer crashes.

Maybe I'll go over to the dining forum after I eat dinner and see what the latest word is from the TAs over there.

Yes, you can email me. My first meeting begins at 8:00 AM, though I start setting up at 7:15 AM.

After reading the article that Ian linked I will not be booking the dining package. I don't see any benefit to it.:confused3 We will just play it by ear. I really do not have the patience to wait and fight crowds. We will see what we feel like when we are there but I doubt that we will end up going.
