So, what sort of excursions, is everyone planning on doing?

We are still at a loss for what we will be doing during this cruise. I say this at the risk of Jackie slapping me, because I'm sure she's already told me what I'm supposed to be doing.

(Actually,, I take that back, Jackie would hold me down and Nan would slap me, considering she's a state certified slap-therapist.)

I think Jackie told me that I'm supposed to go up a mountain by some sort of transport, enjoy the view, drink several fatty-fruity-boozy cocktails and then go back down the mountain. (I think the main intent of this is cocktails more than the view.)

I'm usually fairly organized, but for some reason, other than the land portion before the cruise, I have a real mental block about the cruise itself.

The land portion before the cruise has been über-organized. Actually I had to spend hours on the phone this week making sure there were enough bag tags for all the steamer trunks for all the people we're travelling with.

(You don't know how Jackie can get when it comes to her hat boxes!)

Do we now need to buy a cup for the week for pepsi products? I know when we went on the member cruise it was free. Was it just for that cruise? Not sure if there are any DVC's on here........

Thanks!

Nicole

I don't think anybody has answered this question. NO, soda is free 24 hours a day at the drink station and in the dining rooms. If you buy a soda at a bar or through room service, there is a charge. So, if you are going to hang out at Diversions watching a game (or playing one), grab one from the drink station and take it with you.

You can put it in your own mug, if you like, but when you get refills from the drink station they ask that you us a fresh cup each time. You can then pour that into your mug.

Finally, and I may be having a senior moment here, I though they switched to Coke products....or was it the other way around????? :confused3

Disney serves Coke products.

You can also, 24-hours a day, get coffee, tea, and hot cocoa at the beverage station.

The soft-serve ice cream station is not available 24 hours. I know because I've checked.

Those are tiara boxes, mister! princess:

St Thomas: As far as getting up the mountain...two of the excursions that did that are not available after June.:scared1: The only one left is the one that goes to the butterfly farm also. HOWEVER, we can just get our own darn ride up there, probably for a lot less money. I'll add that to my to do list. :upsidedow And yes, it's about the banana daquiris, the view and some shopping too. Oh, and more shopping at the bottom of the mountain.

For Tortola, I'll be booking the Dolphin Adventure thru DCL ($160...ouch) for Dianne and I. The remaing siblings are doing the 5 hour catamaran/snorkel thingie.

Guess I'll check out cruisecritic for "St Thomas on your own" reviews. Anything is better than doing housework!

So no root beer floats at 11PM, eh?

Now I know somebody else had a question that didn't get answered....off to find it.

Talk about faux pas, I stand corrected.

Yes, it's coming back to me now, arranging for transportation up the mountain, etc. I know Sukie will like the shopping bit. Me, well I might be coaxed into having a beverage.

For anyone else, the butterfly farm is very nice. It is the same people who have a butterfly farm in Aruba, which Sukie and I did during our Panama Canal cruise.

DCL does offer a tour but it is expensive, and includes some touristy shopping.

In Aruba, Sukie and I did it on our own. In fact we took public transportation a bus and then just paid the normal admission to the butterfly farm

The bus only cost us about $1.50 each round-trip. We saved quite a bit of money. I'm not sure what transportation is like in St. Thomas.

I should start to do some research on what there is to do in Tortola and have another look at the excursions.

It's sort of odd that we end up on tropical cruises when neither of us like the beach or ocean very much.

In Tortola we're looking at either the land and sea island tour or there's another island tour we're looking at, can't think of it off the top of my head.

In St. Thomas, we've been so many times that I don't think we'll book an excursion and just spend the day shopping.:thumbsup2

Hey, that's in my neck of the woods!
I work in St. Charles and live in Geneva.

I thought you were out St. Charles way.

I haven't been to Kane County in quite a while. Hmmm, I'm thinking that may be a good thing to do this summer.

Isn't St. Charles home of Accenture's training center/facility? Sister Dianne is retired from Accenture (Chicago).

Emily, so you could give us guideance about doing St Thomas on our own....I'm about to check that out on cruisecritic. We want to head up to the top of the mountain for a Banana Daquiri and Dianne suddenly got interested in the butterfly farm, so the DCL excursion may work for us. But if doing it on our own is less expensive and more flexible for our time, I'd rather do that.

According to the Butterfly Farm, they are located on the cruise ship dock in St. Thomas. You can email them at butterflyfarm_stthomas@yahoo.com for more information.

I don't know much about doing St. Thomas on your own. In years past we've done the submarine excursion and been to Coral World. For shopping we definitely spend a lot of time around Havensight Mall right there at the port. There are some excellent shops and some really good deals there.

Hey Jackie... what's payoff date for this cruise....(just in case I wanted to book it... :rotfl2:)

I think a cruise can be booked right up to sailing if there are empty rooms and you are ready to pay..... :rotfl:
