Another Little Activity

I am planning to bring my pedometer and do some serious walking on the ship. Anyone interested in a walking club, as much or as little as you like?

For people who don't know me, I am a Weight Watchers meeting leader and I have lost and kept off 90 pounds.

I currently walk an average of about 14,000 steps a day, getting off early and walking the remaining 2.5 miles to work, which I do typically in 35 minutes. I also go out for a 30 minute walk on my lunch hour, and I have about 3/4 mile walk from the commuter train at night to our house.

I do a lot of walking.

I'm planning on maintaining my activity level while I'm on the ship.

As far as fun facts go, 7.5 laps around the ship would be about 5,000 steps (based on my stride) or 2.5 miles.

Again, this would just be a fun activity, as much or as little as you want.

I suppose since I already have Shots Around the Ship: A Stem to Stern Extravaganza, this one could be , Walking on Water: Keeping Healthy on the High Seas.

I suppose in many ways a bar crawl and walking group do go together.

WOW has been added to the items in post 1 page 1 that can be specified. Anyone interested in walking for health and fitness with Weight Watcher Lecturer Ian is encouraged to specify herein and I will mark your entry on page 1.

Ian can also post info at some point on when and where to meet for those who decide after embarkation that they want to participate.

OK, Ian?

Your help (that is the concierge team's) could come in handy for us trying to get all the DIS tables on the same rotation (PLAPLAP) and in the same 'cluster'. Jan and I, for instance, both have 'family' tables, but I want to be near our DIS pals too! (can't speak for Jan)

Regarding LOST....it's a whole new ball game now!

Island big picture: opening segment...Jacob and his counterpart...one in black, one in white. One pro 'mankind and free will', the other thinks it always leads to fighting and destruction. Early segment in season one, Locke on the beach with Walt, explaing backgammon and that it was a 5,000 year old game...two sides, dark and light. Another segment, Jack & Kate find the 'Adam & Eve' bodies at the caves, they have a pouch with one black stone and one white stone. Also in the finale Jacob came to Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Jack, Sayid and Jin & Sun at some point in their lives (usually a turning point) and touched them or gave them something...as if he's 'marked' them to come to the island. All I can say is, CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT SEASON>

We have early dining. Tom thought it would be best with a baby. That leaves us out of the planning. Since we are bringing our kids who are not DISers and a baby, we do not want to be scheduled tightly as we do not know what to expect.

Hope I can jump in.:flower3: I just booked and paid for the Tortola cruise 9-12.:cool1: Going solo this time but sure to have a good time. See a lot of people from my area are going to. Seeing all the pictures and names I won't feel all alone.:grouphug:

:boat: WELCOME ABOARD :sail:

Post 1, page 1 has a list of cruisers with the info they have shared. You can decide if there is more you want posted there, and if you do, post it here and I will add it. DIS Activities are listed at the beginning of the post and the letter designations are added to entries as people request. This enables the leaders to get a head count and for the group to plan together.

If you have any questions--ask away. This group includes some very knowledgeable folks.

Hello All. We are 1st time cruisers and I have been lurking here for awhile. Finally decided to join (notice the Earning My Ears) the discussion and let you know that the boards have ears. It will be myself (Linda), DH (Ron), DD (8), and DS (5) on the trip with all you crazy, fun people. We will be participating in the FE and we have main seating. I'm all up for SATS and the Champagne Girls. We are from Ottawa Illinois. Can't wait to meet you all, and from now on I'll be participating actively on this thread.

:boat: Welcome aboard :sail: See the above info.

We used to live in Valparaiso, IN and went to a time share near Ottawa.

OMG! I wore white YESTERDAY. Will the fashion police come after me?

Out here in the desert, we go by the 100 degree rule!

.

I'd like a 70 degree rule for wearing white in Indiana.

we just joined the cruise - it's number three for us - but our first 7 day - we did the 4 then 5 now 7 - it is DH, DD - 6 and DD 2 turning three on the boat, and me - we're in 8558 - anyneighbors - also does anyone know if pur 2 year old can go in the club after she turns three since it happens on board?

any must do's different than the 4 night or the 5 night special last year?

thanks and i'll now be spending the holiday weekend trying to catch up on the thread!

Thank you Jan. Sounds great!

Just a little more about the Butterfly Farm in Disney's own excursion descriptions. The Butterfly Farm is a 3 minute walk from the dock.

I don't think anybody has answered this question. NO, soda is free 24 hours a day at the drink station and in the dining rooms. If you buy a soda at a bar or through room service, there is a charge. So, if you are going to hang out at Diversions watching a game (or playing one), grab one from the drink station and take it with you.

You can put it in your own mug, if you like, but when you get refills from the drink station they ask that you us a fresh cup each time. You can then pour that into your mug.

Finally, and I may be having a senior moment here, I though they switched to Coke products....or was it the other way around????? :confused3

.

Thank you! I thought this was how it went....:)

Link added to page 1, post 1

Jan, that's the butterfly farm e-mail, and here's a link to the web site:

http://www.thebutterflyfarm.com/

OK, does this mean I delete the Mountain Top links in page 1, post 1 ??

If someone can do some more research on this and let me know I would be greatful. THANKS IN ADVANCE !!

As the fire just happened on the 19th, I don't think they have any info about rebuilding yet. Over on cruise critic someone mentioned that this isn't the USA, and things take a bit longer to happen on the islands. Maybe you can just add a 'currently closed due fire' by the info on page one. :confused3

Thank you Jackie for the correction (you can tell I was TIRED when I did that post) and for the idea of how to handle the Mountain Top fire.

Deb - I have you, Cheri, & Kathe sitting w/ Nan & I (plus my non-dis friends) & will have our ressies linked up after the 90 day mark. I figure if we then link ressies w/ Ian & Sukie, Marilyn & John, Kaz & Dick (if they want) & Jackie & clan then we should all be around each other & can table hop if we want to :goodvibes

That sounds like a plan. I got REAS package so I'm booking on Friday night at midnight. YEAH. After 90 days we can link all the tables. We have a long list. Maybe we should appoint one person to be out contact coordinator. Any volunteers?

We aim to please, Your Majesty.

Jan... you forgot these... :worship::worship::worship:

If the tram itself wasn't damaged, they may have something up and going sooner than you think... it IS a major destination for the ships... we'll see...

What is REAS? I'm not familiar with the acronym.

- Reasonably Exotic Apple Sauce?
- Really Expensive Artichoke Samples
- Reconditioned Electric Ape Slippers
- Rationally Esoteric Alpha Stamps
- Responsive European Aqua Sleds
- Remarkably Enterprising Assistant Sophists

Someone fill me in on what REAS stands for.

This isn't the place the gondolas go to (and the bushwackers or whatever it is is served). Mountain top is reached by car/taxi and is home of the first ever created banana daiquiri (so we're told).
