Hi All,
I know some of you have been following my Dr's and Polups so I wanted to update you..

I went to the Ear Nose & Throat Dr today and he confirmed I have them..

He also informed me that at one point in time I had a Broken nose :confused3 as he can see the cartilage damage and scar tissue.. This was a total shock since I don't remember ever having one neither does my mother..

So he gave me 2 options.. Surgery, which would be simple, I'd be asleep, and about 4 or 5 days recovery and he won't need to pack my nose.. OR.. Take a steriod, penicilin, nose spray and see a Neurologist for their opinion.. and "hope" that they shrink and go away and stop causing my headaches & migraines.. Either choice will not be 100% guaranteed..

When I asked for his opinion, he said Surgery.. but to take the meds in the mean time and use the nasal spray as soon as I feel a headache starting and see if that helps....

Thank goodness we won't be traveling any time soon and I will have plenty of R & R before September

My husband is going through something similar, though he doesn't know if he has polyps. He started feeling more blocked up last summer, then in the autumn he began feeling a pressure in his head, which eventually felt like it was exploding when he sneezed, bending forward etc. He was very worried about a brain tumour as our neighbour had just died from one.

He was sent for a cat scan which ruled out a tumour thankfully, so he is being treated for sinus problems, though no antibiotics. Apparently the ENT at the hospital won't see anyone until they have gone through a certain amount of tretment. So he has been on nasal(cortisone) sprays, and now anti histamine tablets as well since October. Really he hasn't seen much improvement. I don't know what the next course of treatment is, but he would have like it to have been sorted for our trip with the grandchildren in May.

It interfered with our enjoyment of fast and upside down coasters last December(:lmao: ) when we were over - basically we rode one and then no more for the vacation!!:sad2:

I hope your problem is rectified quickly whether you take the surgical option or not. I know my husband would sympathise with you completely.

How strange about the broken nose!!! :scared1:

Good luck with the surgery - I really hope you get some relief asap...

Now here near as bad, but I also have sinus issues and I know how miserable it can be. I had impacted sinuses for about a year without knowing what was going on - I just felt horrible, aching, tired and lethargic the whole time. Eventually, I had sudden excruciating toothache and was seen as a dental emergency. Of course, there were no tooth issues, the x-rays of my jaw and face showed the impacted sinuses in all their glory - the dentist could not believe it and immediately referred me to an ENT specialist. Three courses of antibiotics later, I finally started to feel more like myself - TBH I felt like I was getting my life back. I have to see the specialist regularly and he warned me on my last visit that the inflammation was not responding as well as previously. He suggested surgery and I'm thinking about it. I am finding that the slightest thing triggers a problem and I seem to taking over-the-counter sinus treatments all the time... :sad2:

Sukie is still willing to talk to anyone. He had an extremely severe case of polyps. The surgery happened at the end of October. He had been on steroids and sprays twice, but they came back.

Again, his case was severe.

I've been thinking about formal night. Are any ladies going all out in long dresses? What about tuxes for the men? I'm not sure what to do this time. John hired a tux for the PC, but I think he won't want to bother this time with the extra costs of everything due to the exchange rate. I didn't wear a long dress and would have to buy one!

I'm thinking of booking Palo(or trying to) for Pirate night as I'm not too bothered about that.

I probably will since that's the only time I get to wear anything like that. I doubt I'll get a new dress or anything like that, but probably just take the one I've used on the last two cruises.

Jason won't get a tux, he'll just wear his suit. We've never bothered with getting him a tux.

I need to start trying to figure out when to book Palo, it's so much easier on longer cruises, there's more nights to work with.:lmao: I always feel like I'm going to miss something.

Do you even need to ask about the tux?

No formal clothes for us. I like to pack light and don't enjoy dressing up. If we go to the dining room DH will wear a white shirt and tie, no jacket. I will probably wear black slacks and a white sweater.

this sounds a bit like what is the issue with my DH too. He had a bit of a scare this week with a prolonged nose bleed. Ended up in the doctors office having it cauterized closed. Seems it might have been brought on from all the sprays he uses. Sadly his doc has asked for a CT scan, but at such a high cost $1.5K out of pocket(with no real vaule in itself) we have put it off. Our insurance is costly and doesn't cover much. We are in search of a cheaper place to get the scan, but from the sounds of it, I guess the resulting answer is surgery, which I'm sure he isn't going to be happy for.:sad2:

Good luck for those also suffering with these nose/sinus issues.

I'd rather not bother personally...

Do you even need to ask about the tux?

no we don't but can you be seen with those of us slumming it :rolleyes2

Well I did rather think my question wouldn't apply to you two!!!:rotfl2:

Crumbs, can't believe the cost of the CT scan.:sad2: Is paul feeling beter today Nan?

I think I will be the offical photogragher of the formal couple, that way I can stay behind the lense that night. whatdoyouthink of that idea :hyper:

He is better today, off to work, and I haven't heard from him, so I suppose it is all well. No headache today, so that's good. :thumbsup2

He slept alot yesterday, but was his normal self.

When will the doctor see John again?

Also, how and when did he make it home from the snow storm???

I bought tuxes for us for the PC cruise. They weren't new tuxes, but former rentals. In fact, I bought the shirts, the black tails, the white dinner jackets, the black bow tie, the white bow tie, black vest (waistcoat for the Brits), the white vest (still a waistcoat for you Brits), and the studs. It all came out to MUCH less than the rental. I think around $100 each or less.

It just made sense, given the rental prices, to go ahead and own our own.

I'm sure you'll understand, but I will be unable to acknowledge our acquaintance, during the public gatherings.

You would be cheaper than Shutters perhaps?;)

Glad Paul is better. He must have needed the sleep.

John sees the doc on the 16th - probably to change meds. I don't think he would want an op at all so i hope something works before then.

Oh yes, I remember. I think if we had known we would do another cruise he would have bought one. He might do yet as of course we have the TA next year all being well?

DH won't wear a Tux. He will be in a Black suit. Neither will the other gentlemen in our group. They will all be in suits..

As for a gown.. Not to the floor gown no, but I do have a fancy Black & White sleeveless halter top type dress that goes down to my kness or so.. I wore it once, last September on our cruise..

Thanks to ALL for the get well wishes and thanks for sharing your Nasal stories with me.. It does help ease my mind a bit.. :flower3:

I went with a nice dress and a skirt and top... will plan on something like that again... the last long dress I wore was in a wedding... hot pink with matching shoes... sort of a Carmen Miranda type dress... can only imagine what Ian can come up with to match that!!!

I'm thinking of booking Palo(or trying to) for Pirate night as I'm not too bothered about that.

Me too...

Do you even need to ask about the tux?

I do believe Donna that you and Harry are going to try and get away with only a carry on for this cruise... come on...you did 2 weeks with only one bag each... :)

I'd rather not bother personally...

Eating at Plutos that night???

I'm sure you'll understand, but I will be unable to acknowledge our acquaintance, during the public gatherings.

OUR kindgom will be dressed appropriately... and yours???? :snooty: :snooty: :snooty:

I'm still working on it... but I will expect my Royal Contingent to act appropriately if my absence on crucial business delays my journey... or else they may find themselves banished to a less civil kingdom....
