I just keep thinking about the couples massage, the food, and the ocean. It was so hard concentrating yesterday in class. All I wanted to do was be on the cruise. The next couple of weeks better go by fast!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Well, I was up at 4:30 to come to work so I feel your pain!!!! Pain, of course, softened by the blow of knowing that four weeks...a mere 27 days from today, I will find myself in my most favorite place on earth....a Disney Cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!

So today I decided to review some of the information about our cruise I had compiled back in February when I first booked. Can't believe it's almost here, so I'm trying to figure it all out. And I started to get nervous about my decision to fly in the day of the cruise. We got the earliest flight out on Saturday morning (9/10) which puts us at MCO by 9:30 and Port Canaveral by roughly 11am. (We are getting the Disney magic bus transfers) Now I am nervous that perhaps I should have booked a night before flight to account for any weather delays. (We have travel insurance but my biggest fear is missing my long awaited vacation! Besides, Mickey has all my money already!) It's still available so I can switch flights. But my primary reason for not doing this in the first place was 1) Cost - extra night of a hotel at the airport (there's nothing I hate more than overpaying for mediocre hotels) and 2) Work - we're both working that friday and would have to go straight to the airport. Plus I'm not sure how this would affect the bus transfers I've signed up for.

What did you guys do? How many of you are arriving same day (by plane) and how many at least a day before? What do you think I should do? I've consulted my travel agent as well, waiting to hear back from her, but I figured you guys would have some good advice.

Thanks,
stina ::MickeyMo

Well.....we are flying in before hand. (Of course, we need to in order to get our marriage license, bu we would have anyway.) The rest of our party is flying in the night before the cruise, just in case. I understand your concerns. I would look at it this way...... is paying for the hotel for the one night worth not missing your cruise?

Yes, I started to have doubts that I was being pennywise and pound foolish about the hotel thing. I'm going to see if I can change it and if it's not too late to get a hotel room - we wouldn't be getting into Orlando until 11:30 at night. I still don't know how this will affect my bus transfers since I know they do this funky luggage tag direct from plane to bus thing, and since we still plan on taking the bus from MCO to Port Canaveral... but we'll be getting off the plane the night before, dunno what happens to our luggage. Anyhow, thanks for your advice. This is my first cruise and I did purchase travel insurance but something about this essentially non refundable vacation makes me nervous. At least with WDW there was always the option of being able to change at the last minute with little to no penalty. As I said, the Mouse has already got my change in his little mouse hole!
:rolleyes:

Thanks,

Do you have to do Disney transfers??? There are a lot of car services that might be cheaper or equivalent and allow you to be picked up whenever you want. Plus it's private and you don't have to worry about luggage because you'll have it with you the whole time. When you pull up to the curb, DCL will take you luggage right there.

We're flying Friday morning and renting a car from Budget. The car rental is $42. We are then driving to Cocoa Beach and staying at the Courtyard (free with marriott points). We'll return the car to Budget near the Port and take their free shuttle to the port.

You can get one way transfers. So if you decide to rent a car or get limo service to the port you can still get transfers for after the cruise with disney buses.

If you want to keep your transfers, then are plenty of hotels near MCO that have free shuttles to and from MCO to the hotel. You would not be able to put the disney transfer tags on your luggage if you arrive friday night. You'd have to claim the bags take them to your hotel. Then saturday morning get a shuttle back to MCO with the tags on your bags and meet the DCL people to get on the DCL buses. Also this way you can catch the first bus to the port and arrive early.

Daisy112878, Good luck with your studing. I have been a CPA for 28 years and still would not like to take the exam again.

Thanks Bobbybear! It's definitly not the easiest test that's for sure. I'll be glad for a break!!!

I have a crazy question I'm hoping some of you more experienced Disney cruisers can help me out with, since this is only my 2nd one. Tonight, my mom expressed an interest in going on this cruise with us. Is it too late to add her to our room? Of course I can and will ask my TA about this, but I just wanted to make sure it's not a totally off the wall request before I ask my TA and sound like an idiot. Anybody have any experience with something like this?

No upgrade, but we hand picked the SPRs and with 4 rooms linked together, I would never dream it would happen. Does this mean some have gotten their documents? Or are you checking your room online?

No docs yet. Does everyone expect theirs about 2 wks out??? I'm watching my mailbox everyday just in case!
