sept UY, for reservation in Dec, am I borrowing points?

IF I want to make a reservation for December 2008 using my Sept 2008 points, how does that work? Esp., if I cancel, do the points just go back to 2008 UY and then I can still bank them by April 2009?

If Your UY is Sept. o8 your points are good until Sept 08. soyou wouldn't be borrowing any points for Dec 08

That's right. December, 2008 is within your 2008 Use Year (Sept). If you should cancel that prior to the end of April you can still bank the current points.

I've got an October use year.
I'm on a waitlist for december of 2008.
Should the waitlist come through before October 1st, when I officially get my 08 points- the reservation will still be taken from my 08 points.

I don't have enough 07 points to cover the room and I'd hate to lose my reservation- should it come through (got my fingers and toes crossed)

You have an October UY, so your 2008 UY starts THIS coming October.

October 2008 UY = October 1, 2008 - September 30, 2009

December 2008 is within your 2008 UY, therefore 2008 UY points will be used unless you have banked 2007 UY points.

In your case, no matter WHEN the waitlist comes through, the points will be taken from your '08 use year, because the reservation is in your '08 use year. In order to use your '07 points, you would have to bank them into the '08 use year prior to the waitlist coming through.

There is a misconception that points are not "deposited" until the first day of your use year. Your 2008, 2009 & 2010 points are already in your account to be used based on the date of your stay. If you look at your account online, they are there. A December 2008 stay would be in your October 2008 use year, so they would be considered current year, you could even borrow 2009.

I think the OP means that they are making the ressie now (07 UY) but are concerned that it comes through now (before the 08 points kick in) then they would not have enough.

As one of the other posters said above, your points for 08 UY are there and since your ressie is in the UY 08 time period, you will be fine with no banking or borrowing needed, regardless of when your reservation comes through.

I am planning on joining dvc. We are planning for a November trip. I have a large family and would need to borrow points from the next year. Does anyone have some advice for me or anything I should know that they don't tell you?
