We are starting to plan for our next trip home.

We definitely want to go to MNSSHP this time. Crowd and weather wise, which is better, Sept or Oct?

Weather - definitely October

Crowd - definitely September

I would personally pick october, as september is like walking on the surface of the sun

I would agree with first part. Weather- October, crowds - September. Price-also September. But we have gone in October and had some really hot days too. So personally, still always book September.

It is cooler in October, September is hot hot ! Crowds are less in September but not to terribly bad in October :confused3 September rates are lower :confused3 My choice would be October but it is a toss up.

We went in 2009 the week after Labor Day (arrived on LD itself). It was dead. And extremely hot.

We went in 2013 the week after Columbus Day (arrived the Weds. after). It was way more crowded than I expected the first few days. Reading threads on here at the time, a lot of people were taken by surprise by how crowded that week was. By Saturday, it had thinned out considerably. It was extremely hot until our very last day (10/23) and then it turned gorgeous, mid-70s and sunny. We have to plan around school breaks now, so mid-October will be our only choice, but if we weren't limited, I would go about a week after Columbus Day for lighter crowds and hopefully awesome weather. And MNSSHP, which is awesome!

Something also to consider is Food and Wine. The crowds in September are much better.

We live in Germany. The kids go to school on an Army base. They head back on Aug 28. September 20th we are pulling them out till mid October. We are doing one week at WDW, one week at Universal, and one week on a cruise. We love the End of Sept, Beginning of October time. Good weather and small crowds. :cool1:

Weather can be a toss up either month. Crowds definitely get worse with schools having fall breaks in Oct. MNSSHP get REAL crowded the closer you get to Halloween. Food and Wine crowds are always bad on weekends and better weekdays.

We are looking at both Sept and Oct as well (and maybe early Nov). For me, the difference between Sept and Oct weather wise, is not just the temperature. As others have pointed out it can be hot in Oct. It is the HUMIDITY. Oct is a drier month.

last year it was quite spooky. The weather changed on October 1st from hot and humid, but cloudy to clear skies and drier. still warm, but temperature depends on where you're used to.

We go in October and it's definitely not cool! There were days we were dying for air conditioning.

I would go in September - October has been pretty crowded on our last two trips.

While it is likely to be less humid in October, there is still a chance that it could be 90-100 every day. Honestly, I don't think there is much of a difference between the two months and would pick which ever one works better for you.

I've been on several trips during the late September/October timeframe. The weather can be all over the place. Be aware that October can be extremely hot and humid - in 2009, it was well into the 90s every day and extremely humid. It can also be quite rainy - it's hurricane season! (We were at WDW for Hurricane Wilma in 2005). But you might also luck out and get very pleasant weather in October! You just never know - just be aware that it's possible that the weather can be very extreme either month.

Regarding crowds, I would say September is much better than October.

So if you're looking for low crowds and can tolerate heat and humidity well, I would pick September!

If the heat and humidity will be an issue, I'd go for late October.

Thanks everyone! The heat/humidity doesn't really bother us. We are military and will be staying at SOG and hopefully utilizing the military 4 day hoppers so the price difference doesn't effect us either.

We have went in December for the past two years and we love it but want to experience MNSSHP.

I agree. I would go the first full week of October for the fewest crowds. Last year we were there for the first full week and crowds were pretty low, some friends of mine had fall break the next week (2nd full week of Oct) and the crowds were horrible.

Well, if the heat/humidity doesn't bother you, September wins and it isn't even close. The MNSSHP will be less crowded then also.

We used to love October, but it is now too crowded for us.

Keep in mind that Disney hasn't decided if they will be doing the 4 day tickets after the end of September this year. They have for the past 5 years, but you never know - with the economy recovering they may not find it worthwhile. SOG is currently running a sale for September too - It's about 30% off + free breakfast for 2 adults. We have been in October a couple of times since I turned 21 and my parents have been a couple times more than that. There have been some EXTREMELY hot weeks - we were there in 2009 and spent more time at Typhoon Lagoon and the pool at our resort than anything else. F&W is starting mid-September this year, and MNSSHP usually has military discounts for the September parties but not the October ones.
