Past Cruisers - who have cruised in late September/ Early October - what was the weather like ? We will be cruising at this time next year to co-incide with our Australian school holidays.
We've cruised twice in Oct. (one early Oct and one late Oct.). The weather on both cruises was fabulous. Clear, blue, sunny skies (rained once for 1 hr in the afternoon and the next cruise for an hour or so at night). Temp. was in the 80's, water was warm in all ports including Castaway Cay. Never needed sweaters or jackets. Great time of year (plus the price is right!).
We always cruise the beginning of October. The weather has been warm and sunny. Our second cruise ended up being a mystery cruise due to a hurricane to the south, but that just meant Castaway Cay twice and Puerto Rico instead of St. Marten. Our third cruise is booked for Oct. 9 ,2004.
We've cruised in Sept once the weather was great. Now we cruise in late Oct. and the weather is perfect not to, to hot but still hot and the water temps are great too.
In general, it should be the perfect time -- the water is still quite warm while the ambient temperature is not so hot. However, Oct. is still considered to be within the hurricane season, so a late storm could affect the weather pattern and your scheduled itinerary (as the ship veers away from the storm). I think it happened at least once before when Magic visited Castaway twice on one trip...how heavenly (why didn't that happen to our May 10 Western? )
