Sept/Oct Code watch

I gave up and decided to book with DVC. With it being the BIG celebration and the food and wine festival, I wanted a place affordable to place my head :)

 Hi guys, was hoping something would have "moved" for Oct. by now. Wonder if they're going to wait until a month before they announce any discounts (ala old Best Rate Program)? sure hope not...

In response to an earlier post, Columbus Day weekend is a semi-major holiday in the northeast states...lots of government workers & schools have holidays. Our district has Monday & Thursday (open house) off that week. We would have never considered it in the past due to chance of bad weather but, since youngest DS only has to miss 3 days of school - it's a no-brainer!

Was busy planning for our wonderful June trip:Pinkbounc , haven't read much about the "big" Oct. celebration other than the granting of wishes...any tie-ins to discounted/pkgs @ WDW 'ya think?

I am a passholder waiting for Oct. and Dec. codes. Thanks you guys! I know I'll hear about it on this thread soon after the release.

OK. I am trying to logically think about when (if any) AP rates will be released for October so I started doing historical release date research and found the following:

http://www.mousesavers.com/faq.html#ap (look towards the mid to bottom of the page.)

It looks like Sept AP rates were not released in 2003 but were released 8/5 in 2004 & 6/1 in 2005 so who knows what logic therin lies.

For Oct, with the exception of last years "Best rate program" fiasco it looks like AP rates were traditionally released in late August. In 2003 they were released on 8/28 & in 2004 they were released on 8/25. In 2005 they were released in early June as part of the Best rate program so let's not count that.

So, in all my rambling, I don't think Sept people should lose hope until at least early August and Oct people shouldn't lose hope til August is over.

I'm here hanging out waiting for a friend, but also waiting for December so I'm watching this thread to see if there is any hope. I was on last winter in Feb for April/May/June and then June/July/Aug only to be let down with not June ap rates. We just returned and had a great time though so in the end, it didn't matter except Mickey has a lot more of my money ;)

There was lots of speculation about why there weren't any...rooms were full, attendance it up, etc. AKL is always full when we go. It has been every year that we have gone in June. The parks didn't seem any busier to me this year except for July 3rd at MK was a madhouse and one night when we were there for Spectro and Wishes. It took us 15 minutes to get from the Castle to the flagpole at the front of the park.

Rooms may be full, but I found it very interesting in talking with two "big wigs" at MK on the 3rd...they were in suits that's why I say that. Both indicated that it's been a very slow summer so far this year. I don't think MK closed on the 4th either. I'm not 100% sure about that, but I don't think it did. I found it very interesting anyway.

I called this morning but they still only have codes through until 26th August. The lady that I spoke to was from the WDW Travel Company and not Central Reservations and she sounded like she really wasn't sure what I was talking about. I called 407 934 7639 and had to answer a lot of prompts. Is there a better number to call that is more direct? :Pinkbounc

1-800-828-0228 WDWTC and CRO are the same and you still have a lot of prompts with this number but at least it's a free call.

I just called to make a payment on my POLY ressie starting 8/31 and asked if any AP discounts were expected. The girl I spoke with said to check back and there may be something in a couple of weeks...I hope she knows what she's talking about!! I'm glad we at least have a AAA discount...any little bit helps but an AP rate would be even better!

Hi... I just returned from Disney and stayed at the AKL with my family. We want to go back and I wish I would have bought an anual pass while we were there. We are looking to go back in October or November. Do you book a room and wait for codes? Do they change them to the discount if you have already booked? How is the best way to save money with staying at AKL in October? Do I buy a annual pass, or do they offer discounts for anyone because it is a off peak season? Just looking for the very best way to do this but dont want to wait so long that rooms are booked.
Thanks. :sunny:

Book a room and wait for the codes. If you know you're only going to buy one annual pass to get the discount you could wait until you are actually on site to do that if you wanted. The MYW tickets are discounted if you buy them in advance. If you know far enough in advance you could get the ap voucher sent to your home to save some time. Sometimes they will allow you to check in with the voucher for the ap rate. I believe you can even buy activated passes at some places at the Orlando airport...don't know if you are flying or not.

They may offer a general public code so I'd sit back and wait at this point.

We also just returned from AKL :goodvibes LOVE that place. We are going back in December.

posted this on the other thread:

Intercot is reporting a Dining Special and a room only Special. Do not know if I am allowed to link to their boards though.

Still does not help the October folks unless I am reading it wrong :(

I found that post, but I'm wondering where the poster got the info from. I don't see anything on Disney's website about the special. I also just logged into the AP site and they still don't have anything past 8/26 :confused3

I just called and new rate through end of Sept is BPN. I got a rate of $245/night standard garden view at POLY. The CM I spoke with didn't have specific info on moderates in front of her, but she said values will $64/night.

I just called Disney & that CM knew nothing about it for our Poly reservation. If I knew the code well then she could find it, but otherwise nothing. Have CAA right now. :confused3
