Sept-Dec Room Discounts ~ Information Here

Quick AAA discount question. I have AAA & I was under the impression that I could get a RO discount (10% or so) & book that myself. Today a CM told me that I could not book any AAA discounts myself & that I must go through a AAA TA. Is the CM correct? Thanks!

Packages must be done through AAA.

To book a room only you do have to call the WDW reservation line (no AAA choice on the site), but they only have so many AAA rooms allotted, so she may not have had any to offer you.

The CM is incorrect. You can book a room only yourself if you have a AAA card. Actually you don't even need the card yet, just have it by the time you show up. A AAA package (tickets, room, preferred parking pass, and a few other things) must be booked by a AAA agent.

You can book R/O AAA discount (assuming one is available), by yourself, without AAA involved, by making the reservation on the phone. Done it many, many times, and sorry because it is confusing.

:goodvibes

Edit to add: they have always asked for my AAA # when I booked.

Thanks everyone! So if I were to book a RO reservation w/a AAA discount, would I then be able to buy park tickets & the dining plan?

Once you add park tickets it becomes a package, so you'll have to book through AAA. You must have park tickets on your reservation to get the dinning plan.

Free dining is on for Thursday.

Though further details weren't pressed for, I see nothing to the contrary that room discounts will drop as well.

This may be a dumb question so please forgive me... but if I'm trying to calculate what 20% off is of a room rate - how do I calculate what the "Room rate" is if we are buying a package?

Still waiting patiently. Hope that the RO comes about and with good percentages off. Spending some time going over my spreadsheets! Disney nerds unite! Fun never ends. Let's hope for Thursday morning for RO. It's my birthday and it would be the perfect present to myself! ;)

Houstonmama: Wondering the same about DV. And I always wonder that about AP holders, too.

If you have a package, a room only discount won't work for you. (Correction - you can use the discount if you have a package!) You can view the regular rack rates of all Disney rooms and figure out the discount. Just google "Disney resort rates" or use this link. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/disney-rates.htm

First find the rack rate for the resort and room category you are interested in. Those can be found on Allears.net, Mousesavers, and probably here on the DIS, but I'm not sure. Then subtract 20%. That is your discounted room rate. Then add the price of your tickets and dining package if you're purchasing one.

There have occasionally been packages where tickets were discounted, but there is no rumor of that happening this time. I have only heard about free dining and room only discount.

The previous posters have a some good suggestions, but I just wanted to add another option. You could price out the total room price for your dates on the WDW website. Then just multiply by 20% that's about what you'll save. (they'll be a little bit of wiggle because of tax) but it's the simpliest way I've found to calculate it :)

You guys are awesome. That makes perfect sense. After I typed the word "package" I was kind of like "Oh wait that probably won't work!" :) Thanks so much!

Word from high above...

Once again, THANK YOU for all you do on these boards. You sir, are a scholar and a gentleman! :worship::thanks:
